A government official in the United States is indicating that due to water use regulations enacted in 1992, "People are flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times" and "You can't wash your hands, practically, there's so little water that comes out of the faucet".

I'm curious if this is actually true for anybody.

No, it isn't true for anyone.

Judging from my water bill I am using less. We have water saving toilets and faucets, put in 6 years ago. I don't notice a difference with the faucets, but yes, there are times you have to flush the toilets multiple times that you never had to do with the old toilets. During the drought we were taking "military showers". Get wet, turn off the water. Lather up. Rinse off, turn off the water. No standing in the shower vegging, but we don't do that anymore. My big water use is for my lawn, and I only have a .17 acre lot

IMO, it should be illegal to waste water on grass.

Multiple as in "10-15" times, or 2 times (which sometimes, although rarely, I have to do). Even with the "multiple" times I rarely, though sometimes, have to do, overall it still saves a tremendous amount of water. If I "flush twice" once a month, then the other 29 days, times the number of times I've flushed (5-6 times a day), I've saved literally thousands of gallons of water. That's the point. And, anyone advocating going back to the 5+ gallons per flush toilets is an idiot.

According to those numbers now, however we do flush more the needed because of the small tanks. At work we have a dinosaur toilet and a new one, we never have any issues with the older toilet, the other one generates a lot of calls for snaking and plunging.

I have bypassed all of the shower heads with freaking low flow devices. I don't take a super long shower but when I do I want water pressure not what I get from them.

We have seperate irrigation for watering our yards. I like my green grass and trees that keep things cool.

We replaced our toilets six years ago. One is a regular flush, the other has two buttons with varying amounts of water for the flush. One is for number 1 (less water), one is for number 2 (more water). In six years, neither one of the toilets has ever plugged. I honestly don't even know if we have a plunger anymore.

:scared: It’s been in the news a lot here lately that nation-wide, urban Canadian water supplies have unhealthy levels of lead due to ageing infrastructure. We’ve not had ours tested but it is very possible. Health authorities are beginning to study certain areas to see if any dots can be connected between lead-levels and disease/disorders.

3 times is not unusual, but like I said I think I am using less water. But again, my interior water use is not my main water use.

We now have a plunger at all 3 toilets.

We have one toilet that's less than a year old and one original with the house that we altered to have a the dual-flush option. We do need to flush twice sometimes (maybe a few times a week) but overall it's much less water. We have no issues with our faucets or shower but we don't have low-flow devices on those. Usually when we go to a hotel in our area (so cal) I don't wash my hair because they all have low-flow showers and my hair is really thick and long. It's just not enough water to rinse with.
