OMG I'm never leaving the house knowing there are people like this driving around!! I'm sorry, but what in the world do you need guns behind doors and under seats in your car??!??! Please please please tell me you life somewhere like Alabama!

Any other states that you care to insult? I'm from Pennsylvania and own guns, too.

Why are some of you so judgmental? It is a personal opinion.

To answer the question, No, I do not and will never have guns in my home.
I do not want my children to go to homes where there are guns.

No, I would not put a sign on my front door stating that we do not have guns - that is just ridiculous! Give me a break.

I grew up in a family (uncles, grandfather) that all hunted and kept guns in the home. As long as the kids are educated about firearms and the guns are kept locked up there's not much to worry about. I fired my first weapon at the age of around 8 years and gun safety was drilled into my head each time we went target shooting.

I do have a gun at home, but it's an old collectible with no bullets.

Why would you put a sign up saying that you do, or don't have guns in your home? What is your point of doing so? Do you really think a sign on your door saying you do will actually scare away burglers? Or a sign saying that you do not have guns would be an invitation? I just do not see your reasoning at all.

Actually, I just ment that they are far away. I could have said Texas, Cali, or Washington! Personally, living in Jersey, and knowing that you in Penn obviously have guns, thats a little to close for me. I just think its idiotic, an extention of a too-small weenie for to many people, just to make them feel like a "big man". Sorry, just the way I feel.
I'll never forget being forced to go out to DHs friends hunting cabin in Penn. He took DH and I out to the woods so DH could "shoot a gun before he dies" like it was some great thing. DH did it just to shut the guy up, but we left shortly after. I love the quote from My Cousin Vinnie that Marisa Tome says about Vinnie going out to shoot the dear.
We aint living in pioneer times anymore people, go to the supermarket and get some pork chops! Or better yet, eat a salad!
Sorry, just the way I feel.

Yes, that is what I'm implying.

And once again I have to ask those of you who keep guns for protection in the event of a home invasion or burglary - How do you assess a situation as dangerous, unlock a gun safe, assemble a weapon, get the ammunition (that is stored separately), load a gun, and be reasonably sure you are hitting your target in a timley manner, all the while protecting your children AND calling the police? It seems like a stretch that you can effective dirvert an attack any quicker than I could by swinging a baseball bat and having my kid call 911.

I don't know about everyone else, but I can load my .45 and 12 gauge shotgun in the dark and very quickly.

I disagree.
Would a sign with a gun on it scare away burglers? Do you have proof of that? Just curious if you have facts to back this up.

My question wasn't about advertiseing my position, that I have guns, it was about anti-gunners advertising thier position, that they don't.

And I believe that a sign stating 'No guns in this house' would increase your chances of being targeted for crime.

So would a sign saying "The spare key is under the third tomato pot on the patio" or a sign that says "I keep $500 under the mattress" or a sign that says "We never lock the windows". I don't get the point of the question. It is ridiculous. And the "herd immunity" comment is insulting. Nobody wants to a victim of crime, whether they keep a gun in their home or not. To suggest that those of us who choose not to are depending on others to protect us is obnoxious. I take MANY reasonable precautions to avoid being a crime victim, but having a gun in the house isn't one of them.

Yes, I know what your question was....I still think it is ridiculous.
We will just have to disagree.
