Do you have more ADRs than you "should"?

i think it is ignorant and selfish to have extra Adr's so you can decide which ones you want and then just keep all and pick and choose when you arrive. there are others desparate for these times and some of you are tying them up for your own convenience. i know some of you wil come back and say, whats it to you, its nothing to me personally because i make mine on the first day of my window and i only get what i need but what of others who call and are told there is know availability and in reality there are dozens of bogus ressies that are never going to get used and are never going to get canceled. these folks sit on the edge of their bed that day and say ok where do we want to go tonite chef mickeys, coral reef or whispering canyon we have reservations for all three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What he said :thumbsup2

They'll only cancel your reservations if you've booked two dinners on the same night. But if you've booked a breaks, lunch or dinner on the same day it's not a problem. Also, if you're on the DDP they're not going to cancel any ADRs over your 'limit'. Alot of people, myself included, book more than the nightly limit. For us, we go in August and use our snack credits for waters/drinks instead of the breakfast muffin that people use as breakfast. So we have two extra TS breakfast ADRs that we're going to pay for out of pocket. No big deal with Disney.

I'm on the DXDP for 6 nights which gives us 18 TS credits. My current reservations would have us using all 18 credits plus one TS out of pocket. I may or may not use the last one because if Magical Express picks us up earlier than 3 hours before our flight we'd have a hard time finishing our meal. I like having at least one extra in case the unexpected happens and we miss a reservation, we at least have the extra one so won't waste credits or are forced to used a TS credit at a CS location. And if we make them all we will pay OP for one meal.

We're on the DXDDP for 14 nights, and I think I have 28 ADRs. So on average 2 TS a day, but not more ressies than I have credits for, and I intend to show up at them all.

I don't get all the hub-bub over Le Cellier. We went and didn't even know we had *great* reservations and thought the ambiance wasn't so great (lots of noise, very crowded tables)...we waited forever, our waiter was so-so and the food wasn't "to die for". It was just average. I've had MUCH better steaks.
Not worth it to me!

On the days we've tried to do two table service meals in the past, we've been too full and sluggish. We've decided that it is more friendly to our figures and our pocketbook to just do one "big meal" per day.

This is what we do:
Nutrigrain bars in room for breakfast
Counter service lunch
Small snack to tide us over
Table service dinner

I could never understand why someone would want to have all those big meals. If you only book those that you really truly want then you have a reason to go back and then you can eat at those places you never did before. Why waste all your time at restuarants when there are so much other things to do and see?

Totally agree. That's why we decided against the dining plan and are staying in a cabin instead. Honestly I hate a lot of big meals, I think it slows me down and ties me too much to a schedule. I've heard there's good steak at Le Cellier, but is there Soarin' in Pennsylvania? In other words, I'd rather spend my time seeing special WDW things than a table service meal.

Free dining is fantastic, I'm sure and no one wants to give up a free meal, so I'm only talking about actually paying for the Dining Plan. More power to you for eating at Disney for free!! :thumbsup2

We're using DDE instead of DDP, & have 2 ADRs on most days. We'll keep all of them. We like to eat a TS breakfast & dinner daily. One day we're doing the earliest ADR @ Sci-fi instead of breakfast, just so our DS & his GF can experience it. With DDE, counter service isn't that much cheaper. We don't find TS more filling than CS, & it's usually better for you. We don't usually buy snacks. We rarely want one. If I had to eat CS most meals, I'd go somewhere besides WDW for vacation.

We all have different vacation styles, & should do what's best for our family. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another.

We have 9 TS meals on the dining plan & 14TS meals booked. One is Coral Reef that we are only going for desserts after lunch. I only booked this one because I know my ds5 will love it. I am not a seafood eater & my dh never seems to get filled up when we go.

NONE of our adr's are double bookings. They are almost all breakfast & dinner on the same day.

I did the math on adding on the dxdp & even with the extra's it still only about half of what it would be with the dxlp. I went back & forth & what we have planned is where/when we want to eat. We would not be adding anymore adr's on. For us it is more cost effective to pay the additonal 5 oop.

I think you are missing what is being said. We aren't making ADRs for 3 places for diner and then deciding we are making more ADRs then we have credits for. I am on the basic DDP we are there for 7 nights so we have 7 credits. I have 10 ADRs made. Christmas eve and Christmas day I have a breakfast and diner at a TS. Then the other 6 days we are there we have 1 TS a day. I plan on being going to every single one that I made. As far as it being too much we are going over Christmas and I know Christmas day and Christmas eve will be busy so we are using TS meals, character ones at that, as a way to take a break but still have the kids be able to see the Characters. Plus it makes it a little more special for them.

So its not about bookng now and deciding later what we want its about just paying for meals OOP once you've used up all of your credits.

In september Dbf and I are going to be on the basic dining plan. We are staying for 6 nights, 7 days--therefore 6 credits. We have 11 ADRs planned--one of them a signature meal.

I have gone back and forth contemplating the Deluxe plan and have finally decided to just stick with the basic plan. We have a DDE card that gives us 20% off of our OOP meals. In addition to that, we just cannot, ab-so-lute-ly can-not eat an appy, entree, and dessert with all of our meals. So with our OOP meals we will just order entree and drink or share and then, get the big meals with our credits. This also allows us to use our CS credits for breakfast more often, which we find is just as good of a value as using the credits for lunches.

So just keep your extra ADRs! Pay OOP for the ones that seem the least expensive, or the ones that you believe you will eat the least at and use the credits for the rest! :cutie: Happy eating.
