Do you have more ADRs than you "should"?

I mean, if you are entitled to 7 ADRs for your 7 night trip, have you booked more and then just paid the extra? Right now, I have 11 :scared1: and I think I need to cancel a few but there are soooooooo many restaurants I want to eat at I don't know which ones to cancel. I know we are going to go back so I am trying to tell myself that it is ok if we miss a few on this trip (Chef Mickey's and Le Cellier for example) but I don't want to have to spend all this extra money when we should be watching our budget on vacation...o atleast keeping some money for souvenirs and other goodies!!!!

So, anyone else out there with too many ADRs but just can't seem to let them go??!!!!:rolleyes1 and before I get flamed for keeping ADRs when others are trying to book them, ALL the ADRs I have, I have made in the last few weeks and they are during free dining (guess I just got lucky because they are all good ones!) and I am going to decide shortly and then give them away in the Cancel/Trade/Transfer boards soon enough!!!:)

I'm in the same boat as you! I haven't booked them all yet, I'm just trying to figure out what other ones I want, and maybe what ones to cancel that I already have. Its so hard!!!! Unlike you, I don't know when we will be able to go back to Disney again, DH says it will have to wait till I start working again, and that may not be for quite some time ): Anyway, goold luck with your ADRs!!

You're Right! So many restaurants, so little time. You have the right attitude...you'll go back someday and can let some of them go. I would also suggest waiting until that day because you may be in the mood for one over the other.

We have at times cancelled ADRs on a particular day when we are there because we either just didn't feel like a big meal, or feel like eating something different.

Don't cancel Le Cellier. Way to hard to get into. I just have one extra and that's only cause I could only get a 3:30 dinner ress or a 6:30 ress. Haven't made up my mind as to what time to eat. But the day I have 2 picks the resturant is not hard to get into. But I will make a decision real soon. Definately be for I go.

Many people do this, but I highly recommend you cancel double bookings if you have any. There is another thread right now saying if you have anything double booked (like 2 restaurants on the same date at a dinner time) Disney will cancel all your ADR's and notify you. Then you will have to call back and make them again if anything is available.

They do this because you are stopping another family from making ADR's at that table just because you are not sure where you want to eat at and a lot of people don't think its fair.

I don't know if you have anything double booked, but just be careful.

Otherwise, I agree its very hard to choose which places, but you can always come back to WDW.

Don't cancel Le Cellier. Way to hard to get into.QUOTE] Actually I don't have this one and it is proving impossible to get into so hopefully the next time, we can book it!

And I don't have any double bookings so I don't have to worry about that!

So can I cancel on the day of and not get penalized??

I understand that there are many places to choose from but personally I would only keep those that you feel are a must. I have been many times to WDW (at least 15) and I can honestly say I never book more than 2 or 3 depending on how long I am going for.

I could never understand why someone would want to have all those big meals. If you only book those that you really truly want then you have a reason to go back and then you can eat at those places you never did before. Why waste all your time at restuarants when there are so much other things to do and see?

We'll be waiting for them! :thumbsup2

I am going with 10 other people. 5 at the GF, 6 at the Poly (2 rooms). I have some meals booked for 11, some booked for 8 one place and 3 at another, some booked for 5/3/3. I am going with my DH, DS, DS, DD and Mom..2 rooms. My sis and fam is with 5. Some mornings I am going to character breakfast with DH and DD. I also reserved Konas (hotel) for Mom and 2 DSs who are not interested in the character dining. So I have 2 breakfasts, both for a party of 3 reserved with my phone #/name.

If I find out they cancelled anything on me....Aaaaahhhhhhh!

I don't understand what you mean by the # of ADRs we're entitled to. I have 14 ADRs for our 10-night trip, and we plan to use all of them. We will use the dining plan, but we always pay cash for the extra 3-4 that we don't have credits for. We aren't double-booked for any meal, and none are "back-up" meals, we just like our TS meals. The "extras" for us are character breakfasts, we like them! I'm like you, it's hard to choose, so we do as many as we can.

They don't cancel double ADRs. It's more of a rumor than something they do on a regular basis. We've had double booking because of a CM mistake (putting our ADR on the wrong day) and thankfully we called to change something and another CM caught it and asked us about it. But at the most that's all they would do is ask you about it and confirm that there wasn't a mistake when booked. I've had friends triple book because they didn't know where they wanted to eat and none were canceled. Not sure why this rumor started but it's confusing and incorrect.

To ease my mind, I just called Disney Dining Reservations. Its not a rumor, they do cancel double bookings when caught. Each night they review a certain number of reservations to check for anything double booked. She said with the free dining and holidays especially, they have been getting complaints from people who cant get reservations anywhere.

To be safe, I just changed all my reservations to my package confirmation number, rather than my home phone number. This way they will see we have 6 people with us and the 2 seperate party of 3 reservations are not for the same people.

Darn! There goes my evil plan to book up all the prime dining times each day! ;)

I would have been furious if they canceled our double booking since the CM who made it was at fault and could clearly see there was a meal already booked right near that time in a totally different park.

I guess I just know people who must have slipped through the cracks. Or else they are supposed to review bookings but maybe don't really do so as thorughly as they should. ;)

I made ADRs for TS for every single credit. We are at WDW for 10 nights, and are doing signature meals for 5 days. The other 5 days we are booked for 3 TS meals/day. On top of all these meals, I booked one extra breakfast on our departure day. The reason for this is that we have friends that usually join us for dinner one evening when we are at WDW, and my boss usually picks up the tab. If that happens, we will have enough credits for another meal. I read all these threads about how "its too much food", and takes "too much time". This may end up being true, but I LOVE eating at WDW, so I will have to find a way to make it work. We eat 3x a day at WDW anyway, but hopefully I will be able to control myself at all those yummy character buffets! I have been working out 4 days a week to counteract all the pounds I bet I will gain while there. I hope the meals will give us time to relax in the AC before we get our second wind. I'll be sure to bring a book and/or my psp to the ADR, so the time spent waiting for our table will be fun and relaxing also....I hope.... I told DH we should be sure we know our "must-do's" before we get to each park, cause we won't have a ton of park time outside of our ADRs...

I had a reservation cancelled without warning or notice. I had a reservation for two restaurants at dinner time although one was very late. I added a ressie for a late dessert at another restaurant. The CRO said the rule was they cancel your first reservation in the time slot presuming that your latter reservation was what you wanted. I only found out they cancelled because I called when we we in Disney to see if we could add another person to the reservation. My latter reservation was somewhere around 930 for dessert but CRO didnt know that it was for a late dessert and they cancelled MY DINNER reservation at 6PM. We dont eat dinner late. It was a one time dessert reservation and I thought this was OK to do because original CRO told me it was OK to have dessert ressie... so beware. This occurred during Christmas week. It was the first and only time I have tried to book a dessert ressie. They didnt cancel all my ressies, only what looked to them to be a double one.

We are going for 7 days and we have 10 ADRs made. One I know I will be canceling, thats the one for the day we get there. I think we will just eat in whatever park the kids drag us to instead. Other then that we are going Christmas week and have a breakfast and diner for Christmas day and on Christmas eve just to make it feel more special for the kids. We are just as excited about our ADRs as we are about being there!

I think they are much more likely to cancel something of yours if you double book at Christmas, NYE, or another peak dining period.

That being said, I didn't read the post in this way. I read it to mean that she has booked more TS ADRs than the meal plan allows for (as in she won't have enough credits to pay for them all). If this is true, there is absolutely no problem with that! A lot of people do this because the plans don't give you all that many credits to begin with and Disney certainly doesn't mind anyone paying OOP. When I make ressies I always say: DDP even though I know some I will be paying OOP, because I don't know which ones I will pay OOP for at this moment and I don't think its a big deal to do this.

Exactly. Some people may eat 3 TS meals each day. Not me though that is just too much for us.

We're going for 10 nights and have 14 or 15 ADR's. NONE are double booked. Sometimes we like to have a breakfast in the park before it opens, and on the same day we might be having dinner somewhere. We also have things like the Afternoon Tea booked.
