Yes. Finally.

I think more in depth would be to question - are you offered it through your employer and do you choose to accept it.

No. Can have through work but it take half my check to for it.

So go to the clinic for medical care.

I don't think you will get results that represent all of America. I don't think we have a sampling of all types of incomes & jobs here on the DIS. The folks working minimum wage jobs with no benefits and those on public assistance probably don't have trips planned to go to WDW. Well, most of them probably don't. There may be a few here.

We have insurance through DH's job. The coverage (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) is pretty pathetic.

sometimes yes, sometimes no - If I'm working for someone that offers it, then I get it. If I'm doing contract work or self employed (which is about 3/4 of the time) no, I'm unable to buy insurance because I once had cancer, and I make too much to get public healthcare. It sucks that the insurance companies are able to cherry pick whom they cover.

My fiance & I both have it through work.. we get paid biweekly, and it's $30 per paycheck. Coverage is pretty good - I had to go to the ER earlier in the summer and didn't get slammed with bills like I expected.

I've been fortunate to have health insurance/care all of my adult life. I'm good for another few years through my pension program and then I start Medicare... if there still is such a thing...

I have health insurance. I pay $700 a month for my daughter and I to be covered. This is with a $5000 a piece deductible.

The poll might be more interesting if you ask if it is employer supplied for free, employer supplied at a change to the employee or if it is paid for entirely by the individual.

We have health insurance, totally free as my DH is military. I have been without insurance before, and it really sucked. I ended up in the ER with an ovarian cyst, and that was hecka pricy.

We have health insurance and pay $440 a month for a family plan. Both my husband and I get the employer contribution. If just one of us got that, it would be over $700 a month. This is for a mediocre, 80/20 plan with a 1K deductible per person, 3K max per family.

I have it through DH's employer, but we pay dearly for me. I am ineligible at my job because I work 19.5 hrs per week (you must work at least 20 hrs per week to buy into the health insurance).

I hate that good health insurance is tied into employment.

we are both offered ins through our employers. Mine is the better, so we chose it and pay around $260 a month for a family plan, including dental and vision. This has gone up in the 7 yrs I have been with my employer.

Yes. When I first "graduated" from mom and dad's policy, but didn't have insurance from an employer yet I took out a basic policy with a really high deductible in case of something catastrophic. I paid out of pocket to visit a clinic when I got strep throat, etc.

I didn't have a tv, a stereo, or any furniture (I slept on the floor of my empty apartment)and I had to pinch every penny at the grocery store, but I paid for medical insurance. It was long before cell phones, computers, etc. and vacations wouldn't have even been a consideration. To me, it was considered a necessity and I only would have dropped it if I'd already dropped everything but food, transportation and shelter.

I lived that way for the first nine months on my own until I got acquainted and found roommates. Then things got easier and I had more luxuries.

Yes through my employer. It's $254 per month for myself and my "domestic partner" (my DBF). I'm just happy they let you carry someone you're not married to. He wouldn't have insurance otherwise.
