Do you have a "never again" list? Which restaurants are on it and why?

Sunshine Seasons-Now I've only been there once, but it did not impress me at all. The carpet and table was the dirtiest I've seen in counter service restaurants and the food was just ok. I see it still gets high reviews, so maybe I went on a bad day. :confused3

We must have been there on the same day then! ;) YUCK YUCK YUCK

These are my never ever ever's:
Mama Melrosies-Bad service and mediocre food.
Electric Umbrella-horrible food (meaning hamburgers weren't cooked all the way through and were still part frozen) and it smells kind of funny in there.
Food Quest- Great service just downright nasty, unedible food! No one took more than a couple bites and we had 3 different menu items. We threw them out and had to wait till our dinner ressie to actually eat. Horrible

I'm not saying I'd never go back to these, but I didn't care for them at the
time:
Coral Reef 2009- Miss the rice with my chicken and think the spatzele it's now served with is horrendous!
Tutto Italia- I love Italian food but mine had so much olive oil in it, my pasta tasted liked greased olives. However, the desserts and service were wonderful!

Mine would be Sci-Fi: I got an inedible sandwich that wasn't cheap (if I have to throw it away, I'd rather not pay a lot of $$ for it) and my DH would say ABC Commissary. His "burger" was the worst burger he'd ever had, and we've eaten the burgers at Kennedy Space Center! (Trust me on this one- you don't want to ingest either one. If it's pasty gray throughout with absolutely no flavor, it probably didn't come from a cow, right?).

Mama Melrose is also on our never again list - freezing cold restaurant, inedible pizza (for a kid who eats all pizza), looooooong wait for our food even though the restaurant was half empty (with a packed waiting area) and when the food finally did arrive, it was ice cold due to sitting under a not-so-hot lamp in the freezing A/C for who knows how long. This could have been a recipe for food poisoning, so I suppose we got off lightly in the long run.

I will not eat at any buffet though. Not because of anything Disney does wrong, but when I see the way people stick the utensils (or even their hands) into the food, it just makes me ill before I start eating. I know I miss out on some good experiences by skipping the buffets,
I have issue about buffets too but to get around it... never take from the top or front. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use hand sanitzer when you get back to your table before you eat anything. Nice thing about Disney because the restaurants are usually busy the food turn over is good nothing sits for long.

I wouldn't do Arkershus again. The food was so-so and the character interaction was very poor. My daughter was dressed in her Aurora costume and it was the only princess she wanted to meet. She never came to our table at all and when I asked the server if it would be possible to have her come to our table we were told she could not, they did give us a 'back door' pass to see her in the MK tho.

I wouldn't go back to O'hana. I enjoyed the experience once for the atmosphere, but that's enough. The food was mediocre, it was crowded and the wait was loooong.

Everyone raves about the 50's Sci-Fi Dine-In, but I am not a fan. I ordered a sandwich with this weird bread that disintegrated every time I tried to pick it up. The melon salad was slimey. And I hated being crammed next to my husband in the car (should have picked a table).

Flametree BBQ - Dry, tasteless pulled pork sandwich.

Pizza at almost anywhere in the park except the Italian restaurants is grossss. Obviously marketed to kids.

My number one "never again" was the Cape May Clam Bake...
I will admit that I am not great with buffets to begin with and they have to be exceptional for me to enjoy them.. but this was far from that. The clams themselves were rubbery and overcooked but since I liked them I shoveled them down anyway... followed by overcooked corn and just generally food I would put on the same level as Old Country Buffet (sorry for any fans out there, but it is far from gourmet!!) :rotfl: Also, the buffet itself was not clean and there was food all over the floor!! The rest of the night was spent with a severely upset stomach that ruined a lovely evening at DHS!!

And also, as I was reading through this I had to agree with the folks who commented about the Sci-Fi. I like the ambience and it is always fun to go with first timers, but the food is marginal at best and WAY over priced. Not to mention it is not fun when you have a party of 2 because you usually get jammed into the backseat of a car with a family of 4! Rather akward.... at least it has been for me! :rolleyes1

Askershus. my DH, who has never met a food he didn't like, said he will never eat there again. the food was bland (both on the buffet and our entree). it was the worst pasta dish i've ever had in my life. the only good thing was the dessert tray (and i believe they've changed it). we didn't even leave feeling full. and we leave every other buffet completely stuffed.

Chef Mickey's for Dinner

Scary looking buffet - serious low quality looking and tasting food.
Chaos, loud - beyond what is normal for a lot of children in a restaurant. I'm a mom of 2 young kids and grew up in a very loud, large family and this was beyond tolerable.
Not clean - nuff said

It is so funny to me to read all of these. So many places that some people adore, others hated. It is all a matter of taste. There really is no restaurant in Disney that has horrible food really. The only place I have not eaten over the years is V&A's.

Some laces just seem mediocre to me. Most of them are character buffets. Years ago we loved Crystal Palace but now we do NOT go back ever. The food is just like something you would find in any cafeteria. Same thing with Hollywood and Vine. Most people are there for the characters though and do not care.

I enjoy LeCellier, I know people RAVE about it, but you can get a much better steak at Yachtsman or Cali Grill.

The only buffet that i think is really good is Boma, and the breakfast buffet at Captains Grille.

Coral Reef is so so but everything is super spicy. Again, it all depends on your tastes.

Someone mentioned HDDR as their never again and we love it. The show is far better than the food, but if you like fried chicken, mashed potatoes, bbq ribs and a good salad, it's fine. Not 5 star dining by any means, but tasty and goes with the theme.

Same with Spirit of Aloha- good chicken and ribs and pineapple bread, but nothing to write home about. But like HDDR i am not there mainly for the food.

I know that if I want a truly WONDERFUL dining experience, I am going to Tutto Italia- who has hte most authentic anti pasti I have ever seen. Or we will go to Cali Grill, or someplace like those where it is nice and quiet.

Another place we love is ESPN on Boardwalk. Their food is great and great prices.

Let me preface this with a bit of a warning: I have gastroparesis - basically my stomach doesn't digest on it's own, or it will but only after many hours (if I don't take my medication). If it backs up, I often get violently sick for hours until it rectifies itself. I had gotten a bit off schedule with the meds when these entered my "Never Again" list, so you may want to take my getting sick with a grain of salt!

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre: I spent the entire next day writhing around my room in sheer pain after I ate here. Many of my other friends got sick as well. I lost an entire day of the trip, and the seering pain in my intestines from the ribs I ate was horrific. I cringe when I think of this place. If I must go back, I'll stick to a stick of gum, thanks.

ESPN Zone: I have tried this place several times, several locations throughout the country, with the same result - a night spent deathly ill, suffering. This is one place I am sure it is the food and not just a bad experience. As Erin_Akey said, her family loves it - and I agree with her, I think it is more about your personalities/tastes. This works with neither for me, sadly, since I am a huge sports fan and it's often the only place to catch a game (but I can often stop caring about that in the World!).

Turkey Legs, no matter where they are: Oh. My. Goodness. I used to love these. Now I have no idea how. Never ever again.

Those really are my only two "red flags," so to speak. Disney is so wonderful with accommodating my tummy that most restaurants are a breeze for me. Those were just two very bad run-ins, but enough to turn me off forever. As I said, it really may not have been the restaurant/QS stand, since I am quite sensitive, but...yikes.

ESPN Club. I tried it many times over the years and each time the food was terrible. A few years back, I finally said "never again."

Electric Umbrella- Grossest worst cheeseburger of all time! Dry patties, drier bun, no bueno.

Tony's-Not that it was BAD, it was just not that good. Many better places for us to eat at.

My Never-Again list would consist of:

Cantina San Angel
CS in the American Pavillion

Those were the only places I found where the food tasted pretty nasty.

I shall now commit DIS blasphemy...........

Boma: (dinner) the food either had no flavor at all or tasted like cinnamon.

Jiko: The food was only average, and the service was horrible. Definitely not worth 2TS
I completely agree with you on Boma, but Jiko is one of our favorites.

We didn't particularly like 'Ohana when we went there, but I'm now wondering if the reason for the dried-out meat that tasted like lighter fluid was because our ADR wasn't until 9:30 p.m. We may give it another chance down the line.

Anyway, for our next visit, after eating at most of the top-rated restaurants at WDW already, my DW and DS insisted on picking some of the restaurants this time, and so we're going to many of the restaurants mentioned in this thread. My DS picked Whispering Canyon, which we've never been to despite staying in WL multiple times. My DW picked Sci-Fi Diner, which generally gets lackluster reviews for the food, but looks fun. And I picked San Angel Inn, after avoiding it for our last three visits, because I love Mexican food and hope springs eternal, right? ;) (However, I may switch us to the new Hacienda when it opens up.) Wish us luck!

WCC- if they put even a 1/4 of the effort to serving food as they do with the stupid antics......:rolleyes1

Coral Reef- service as slow as molasses and REALLY sub par food

Tony's Town Square for dinner- to the PP who called it Ragu, don't insult Ragu that way :rotfl:

Chefs de France- worst service we have EVER had :sad2:

Rainforest Cafe at AK. I didn't care for lots of food this last time. Disney had best remedy the mediocre food.
