Do you have a "never again" list? Which restaurants are on it and why?

ABC Commissary at DHS

We ate a quick lunch there on our first trip to Disney and I suffered through food poisoning for 24 hours after.

Biergarten and Cantina de San Angel.

Both were nasty, but the Cantina was just GROSS. It was so busy when I ate there (right before illuminations) but my food looked like it had been sitting out for 3 hours. Add the fact that it was expensive and bland and it is an experience I would never like to repeat.

We have two never do again restaurants.

The main one is Prime Time Cafe. Two out of three times (we gave it the "three strikes you're out" routine) the food was less than enjoyabl and the service was awful and almost non-existent. Not to mention the portions have gotten so much smaller than they used to be. If I'm paying $15 for meatloaf I want to leave the table full of yummy meatloaf (used to get three nice sized slabs of meatloaf) and not leave the table wondering where I'm going to get a snack.

The other is Boma for breakfast. I didn't find that the selection was all that great and for the price I felt it was over-rated. I will, however, see if I can order some of that yummy punch and take back up to the room. :)

Biergarten - It was the worst food, I have ever eaten. Even the iced tea tasted funny. It gets good reviews, but I will never try it again.

Crystal Palace - Been twice - first time was okay, second time was really bad. The food selection was terrible and food area and floor was dirty. Tables around us were stacked high with dirty plates and no one ever came to refill our drinks. I won't go back.

50's primetime for my family, we were so not into the atmosphere nor prepared for how into character our waitress would be.

Not sure if we're looking forward to eating here or not...we need to be gluten free and I've seen pics of the most fantastic looking gluten free fried chicken there, but the DH definitely hates the rude waitresses.:goodvibes

Lotus blossom- dry, gross and had a few long black hairs in it.
Had a similar experience at a PF Changs--took me a long time to want to go back, but it has the best tasting Chinese food in are area and a great gf menu

When we were in WDW 4,5 years ago, Cap'n Jacks (and Marrakesh) was the only restaurant that didnt made sick.
But then again I was pregnant at the time, and my hormones were playing tricks on me. I had morning sickness all day long. :lmao:
DH got sick after Mama Melrose's--he was going through some health issues 6 yrs ago and the next day he was down for the count in lobby of Wilderness Lodge, flew home, and ended up in the ER...so no more Mama Melroses

Chef Mickey's: Really did not like anything about it. The waitress was absent most of the time. The characters were rushed. The photographer was pushy and the breakfast buffett was barely edible. In general my family spent the whole time there wondering what was so special about it.

Kouzzina: We were there in August 2009. The food was okay but the service was VERY slow. It was quite literally a 3 hour meal. Reservations at 6:00pm got in right away and seated. We crossed the bridge to epcot at 9:00pm just in time for the illuminations show. Way way way to long.

Sunshine Seasons: over-priced, not as good as it looks food. The whole re-design of the area is a big letdown. Have tried several items and have never been happy with them---except for some of the desserts.

There are menu items at lots of places I wouldn't choose again, but that's the only one I've given up on.

Chef Mickeys- We were seated at a table squished between some other people and the kitchen doors. There was food all over the floor and birds flying around. I was not impressed by the food at all and it was just too crowded and noisy. The characters were wonderful though.. but you can get good character interaction at lots of other places.
Especially compared to 1900 Park Fare which we loved, we won't go here again.

Chef M's is one of our "must dos", but the birds really freak me out! :scared1:

1st Biergarten
2nd Tangierine Cafe

Service was good, but food was terrible!!! At least for my taste. :sad2:

Biergarten and Sci Fi are on the only two on my never again list.

Hollywood and Vine. It was too bright, too noisy and the food wasn't that great. We did it for the Fantasmic pkg. and it was all that was available. Never again, it wasn't horrible but we just enjoy other restaurants at DHS so much more.

Whispering Canyon Cafe & Mickey's BYBBQ. I hated everything about the BYBBQ, it was so bad I contemplated swimming back to the hotel.

It was 50's Prime Time Cafe for us. The food was great! It was the darn atmosphere. Our waitress was in true form. I knew going into it that they play a character but she was laying it on too thick. I heard her manager in the hallway tell her to bring it down a few notches but she didn't. It was awful. I don't deal well with being told what to do after a long hot day in the parks and the last thing I wanted was to be nagged during the entire dinner.

Garden Grill: Bad food, cramped, cluttered cubby holes, loud, mediocre service.

There are a few I would like to avoid (Crystal Palce, 1900 Park Fare), but if I was taking young kids I would probably still consider it.

Le Cellier. Cheap, cheap steaks, completely overpriced for the quality, hurried, rushed service, and I'm practically sitting in a stranger's lap because of the seating. There was actually more space between my table mates and I at Biergarten than the people sitting next to us at Le Cellier.

If/when Le Cellier goes through the "change" to bring it back to what it once was, I'll give it another shot. We had good meals there in 2000, 2001, but from about 2003 forward, the meat quality has gone far downhill.

Hands down Ohana, I really don't get the attraction here. The food was horrible. Frozen dumplings, boxed noodles, dry meat and mushy shrimp. And, the courses were brought out very, very quickly. Gross, gross, gross. The most over hyped restaurant at Disney.

I totally agree. The meat was, for the most part, so dry it was unedible--and that is the main course. The sides were OK, dessert was fine...but I really don't see all the hype for this restaurant.

A number of posters seem to base evaluations on the service. Service really varies from server to server--I don't think it is the policy of any restaurant to have rushed, rude and/or indifferent service. I think the "quality" of Disney employees had slowly dimished, and that polished attitude that seemed prevelent years ago is missing from many (not all) of the present day staff. I have been in the same restaurant on different occasions with wildly varying degrees of service--if the food is consistant (and in a good way) I will be back.
