Do you go to the show the first night?

We always go We really like seeing the opening variety act and have always enjoyed them. We also enjoy seeing seeing all the characters and meeting the staff/crew. It's a good way to start our cruise and revs us up for what's ahead.

Personally, I agree with walking out during Junnk. 45 minutes of intensive, random drumming on plastic cans, cow bells, what have you, was really not what I call entertainment.

You definitely wouldn't like "Stomp" then.

Just to avoid some confusion for some that haven't been on all of the ships. Each ship has three main stage shows, hour long Broadway type shows. On the 3 night cruises, the show on the first night will be one of the main stage shows. On longer cruises, they have fillers for the other nights. A movie, a variety act. On the 7 night cruises, they have a welcome aboard and a farewell show on the first and last night of the cruise. These shows are a mixture of the Walt Disney performers and a variety act. In my opinion, a nice way to start and end a cruise. While it would be great to have 7 broadway shows, I believe that the ships can only hold stages for three main shows. That is why they typically run only 2 main stage shows when they are switching out a show for a new show while they remove the old sets and install the new sets.

The kids love that opening show as well as the golden Mickeys (their favorite). Tried to skip the golden mickeys last time but one of them noticed it advertised in the navigator. Even worse, after the show we walked by the gift shop and a little girl walked out with a golden mickey in her hand. Luckily when we got in the gift shop they were sold out of golden mickeys. Never noticed them there before on past cruises- I guess I just don't go in there enough!

I love the show on the first night. Besides getting me excited for the cruise, I love the singing/dancing!

My thoughts exactly. I've seen Stomp at least a half dozen times over the past 25 years and have always loved them.

We don't tend to see the variety performers, so usually skip the first show because of that. Like others have said, it's a long commercial for things w'ere not going to go see. We always (well, I always, DH mostly) see the Disney shows - Tangled, Dreams, Golden Mickeys, etc.

Really? You may really be missing out! We saw Lynn Trefzger on our last cruise and she was fantastic. We were seriously all in stitches. Where she really shone, though, was the adult show. I thought I was going to break a rib, I was laughing so hard. DH can be fairly stoic at times and he was in tears.

We have seen some of the best entertainers over the past decade on Disney ships -- the other ships (so far) don't hold a candle. I love the magicians, singers and comedians they get. We will miss one of the stage shows before we miss a variety act.

If it's the "let the Magic/Fantasy/Dream/Wonder Begin" show - we use that time to shop!! My family needs extended sizes, and the first night has the best selection and the shops are usually DEAD during the show. (That said - on a three-night, when you only get the signature shows, I would be at the signature show).

And I need to give some love to JUNNK - I thought they were fantastic! A great combination of Blue Man Group and Stomp. When they started playing the song "Celestial Soda Pop" on the soda bottles - that was too funny! However, I don't care for the ventriloquist acts I've seen on board - I guess it just proves that Disney tries to have something for everyone.

We see the ship welcome and farewell show on each new ship that offers them. Otherwise we only go to the full production shows.

We enjoyed the Golden Mickeys but missed Villains tonight so will be sure to catch it next time.

Villains tonight is our favorite. The cast on the Dream in February was an absolute blast. Would recommend it as at some point it will be replaced. It has already been phased off of the Magic.

We don't go to any of the shows if you really are keen they show them on your TV. We watched them on there once whilst resting my very full belly and thinking glad I didn't make the show... I prefer to be in bed watching TV! My Full belly didn't stop me calling room service some time later for more .... I clearly learnt my lesson lol.
