We've always used the exact number of TS credits we've had, except once where we paid for one additional meal because we used up 2 TS credits for CRT. Since then we've only used the allotted amount. For our upcoming trip I'm toying with adding an additional meal (character breakfast or breakfast at resort) but in doing so I would have to pay for one of my meals oop. Do you find yourself ever going over and paying oop to add a meal (or two or three), or do you stick to only the amount your entitled?

We usually go over and end up paying out of pocket. I try to decide which one would be the least expensive and pay out of pocket for this. Since we try to go to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast on our last day, it important to look over the menus and the total bills. Then we just tell our server to please charge it to our room and not use the dining plan. We definitely do not need the DDxP, as that is just way too much food for us. And, we always pay out of pocket for CRT, so we can use our two credits on other TS.

Hope this helps. Karen

We will use the DDP for the first time in October, and I guess we go over, as I want at least 3 CB and a table each day and at the last day CG for wishes, so it comes up to 13 TS and we have 10.
I´m just looking at the menus to decide which meal we go to pay OOP.

No, never. I find that one table service meal a day is loads and I don't do the ones that cost two credits because that seems like a waste to me.

We always schedule our trips in Sept - to get free dining.
We do sometime go over our allotted amount of TS credits. I say, eat where you want! I just review the menus listed on this website and try to roughly calculate cost to decide which ones to pay out of pocket. I also try to keep the out of pocket meal(s) for the end of the trip, in case something changes during the trip. We especially love character meals, and we really come out ahead with the dining plan on these,as they can add up quick.
Don't feel guilty about going over!

We haven't gone over on any of our previous trips but this one we plan to do HDDR and since it's 2 TS we will pay oop for Beaches and Cream. We will also have to pay oop for a few meals for my DD. She's under 3 but there are some resturants that aren't buffets or she won't like anything we are eating so I will get her mac n cheese

Im ALWAYS paying OOP for at least two meals on our trips. LOL! there's just so much that i wanna try! Why not right? Often i'd split the credits. For example last year at cali grill I paid OOP for my son's meal cause he wanted the kids menu (even thou he's 12 and a disney adult).....and I used the DP credits for mine. By paying for his OOP, that gave us 2 extra TS credits to use somewhere else!

Last time we used the dining plan, it was back in 2006 so, I'm not too sure about then ( and my DD was only 11). We have booked our ressies for June and I believe that I may be paying for at least 1 or maybe 2 breakfasts OOP. I think these are probably the cheapest meals ( I want to try the Banana French Toast at Olivias and the Tonga Toast- probably will do Capt Cooks- cheaper) There's so many things that i want to try I really wish I was there longer

Usually no but this is the first trip we will. I want to try T-Rex and even though it's included on the DP now, we can go much cheaper paying OOP. I have the 99 cent child coupon and DH and I will split a meal. It will cost us well under $20 for the total meal. I'm not going to waste dining credits on this.

We usually pay for 2 (sometimes 3) extra meals OOP. We always use our TS credits for dinner and we always do a TS breakfast at our resort the day we leave, so depending on whether we do 1 or 2 other breakfasts during our stay, that determines how much we pay OOP.

Always!

Although I try really hard not to! :lmao:

Actually, in 2008, we had the deluxe dining plan, & I don't think we paid for any meals OOP. Last year, we had the deluxe dining plan as well & we paid 1 meal OOP (T-Rex) because it wasn't on the dining plan at the time.

For our trip in September, we'll just have the basic dining plan because we discovered that the deluxe dining plan w/ now not just 2 but 4 Disney adults (when 2 of those "disney adults" are really just kids w/ kids' appetites) was just WAY TOO MUCH!

So, anyway, we'll have 2 table-service meals we'll be paying OOP - I'm thinking lunch at Sci-Fi & lunch at LTT. Plus, we'll have 2 sets of extra quick-service credits which we'll be using to split some breakfasts at our resort.

Last trip we did both the luau and the HDD so we did go over our alloted TS. I was prepared and had saved up points on MyPoints and got a gc for Rainforest Cafe to use on our AK day :thumbsup2 We did not need the last TS either since we went to the Ale House one night (it is one of our must do!)

We usually pay one or 2 meals oop because my 14year old will not eat off the adult menu at all restaurants. This trip it's just me and my son. So I am doing the Quick Service and adding 4 TS restaurants. We just can't skip our favorite restaurants :)
