Do you feel short changed by buying DVC?

I basically gave up my Cast Member room discount to join DVC. In the short term it may cost more, but over time it's a really good deal.

I just have to say that I'm envious of you being a cast member..if they opened up opportunities in Alamogordo New Mexico I'd be all over it. Welcome Home! :)

Sorry if it sounded a bit cold, but if I go to the store and buy some lunchmeat, I don't expect them to give me a loaf of bread and some cheese to go with it to make my sandwich.

Totally agree that the loaf of bread and cheese would be nice but not expected, but wouldn't you be upset if the lunch meat you bought was moldy?

Perks and extras are just that, extras but when I bought in I got great service, answers to questions, solutions to problems and resorts that were maintained on the same level as anything Disney owned. I don't see that happening lately.

When you do complain you just get the standard run around of we will certainly pass this information on to our management team.

Nope. I love my 2 bedroom villas!!!!!!!!!!! No way I'd pay cash for that, so DVC is always the best deal for me.

It kills me to have to pay for a hotel room anywhere these days. We spent two nights at La Quinta and it was $167 by the time you added in the taxes. Ugh!!

Agree with this. And there are six of us, so that means two rooms or suites everywhere we go, because while we can squeeze six into one room, it's less-than-pleasant. We've done it before number six joined us, and it wasn't pleasant.

We own two other timeshares. While DVC is not a lifetime ownership, I believe it's the best value of any timeshare. If for some reason I can't make it to Disney two years in a row, I can rent my points to cover my MF's. When I do go, the accomodations on property equal or exceed that of other timeshares. However, there have been complaints about AKW, this is the only time I've seen comments about repairs needed.

Could Disney offer us more to bring us to Disney more? Sure they could. I posted a short list of icentives that some DVC members posted on another thread. Do I feel that I need that stuff to get my value out of DVC? Absolutely not. We paid close to 15k, and if I could sell my other two timeshares, I'd add-on to DVC in a heart beat.

Bottomline for me is that the room is mainly secondary while at Disney. A room is a place for me to rest my head, shower, and change our clothes. Whether it's over night, or naps in the middle of the day for the kids, we are not their for the room. Mind you, if they were dumps, it would be a different story. However, Disney is not going to give you dumps to sleep in.

Chuck - wasn't meaning that far back to the beginning :lmao: Was thinking more along the lines of someone who might have bought BLT @ $107 only to see others now pay $96.

Chris

We almost bought at that price in January. Good thing we waited until last week and actually got AKV for $94.

Nicely done - now your only problem is trying to teach your kids that it doesn't pay to procrastinate :lmao:
