Do you ever rate threads?

You know the little box where you can "rate" a thread? When you post a reply?

Does anyone actually do this?? What happens if you do?

You may find a small menu on thread pages which allows you to 'rate this thread' with a number between 1-5.

Casting a vote for threads you view is entirely optional, but if you think that the thread is superb, you might rate it as a 5-star thread, or if you think that it's unspeakably dismal, you might choose to rate the thread with a single star.

Once enough votes have been cast for the thread rating, you may see a set of stars appear with the title of the thread in the thread listings. These stars reflect the average vote cast, and can allow you to quickly see which threads are worth reading if you are on a very busy board with a lot of threads.

Edited to add you can only vote once and IMHO this could be a bad thing if people's feelings are easily hurt.

I am assuming that we are rating this as a #5? Although a good question, I tend to wonder if I am being a tad dishonest saying it is a five. Now a poem by Monty dog might score more....

I just rated it a five. I never have rated before. I'm a rating virgin.

I can't rate it again...dumb me only gave it a rating of "average" when I first did it.

I don't think that adds anything to it.

Nothing yet. It just occurred to me that I think I remember seeing a separate column for the rating along with a few threads that had 5-stars but maybe it was removed at some point (possibly because it was rarely used)?
