Do you ever go by yourself to WDW

I'm here at WDW solo right now, enjoying my value studio at AKV. DH and I come once a year, then I come solo once a year. Even when we come together, DH golfs practically every day. Usually, he takes a golf trip without me every year, not to WDW,but to Alabama. My solo trips here are very restful.

I'm so jealous of eveyone there now!!! :rotfl: I just returned last Saturday and it feels like AGES ago!!! I've got my Disney music on trying to hold on to that "magical feeling" I had this time last week!!!

Enjoy everyone!!! Have a great time!!!! :thumbsup2

I Almost got in a day trip to WDW one year. I was traveling from Tampa back home and stopped in to get gas at the Hesse at DTD. I had my AP with me, but, the Boss didn't think it was fair for me to go.

Later, she felt really bad about it and said I should have gone anyway, but, we don't work that way.

How is that? I thought about it for this trip but for some reason hesitated. Can you tell me a little about it? Thanks!

It's really nice, especially over the Christmas holidays because of the decorations at the GF. But even when the hotel is not decked out for the holidays the tea is special.
Here is a link from Deb Wills site which shows the menu of offerings http://allears.net/menu/menu_gft.htm
I always choose the Buckingham Palace. You select your tea, my favorite is the Gardenview Blend, then you get tea sandwiches, scones which devonshire cream (delicious) a jam tart and then you select 2 pasteries or fresh strawberries. The strawberries are alway great, and they are topped with home made whipped cream.
You are really treated well, you are not rushed, so you can enjoy the tea and the other offerings. The tea is not in tea bags but rather tea leaves that are in the pot with the hot water so they steep, you are give a small strainer that goes over your cup so that you do not get the leaves in your tea. They even put a tea cozy over the pot to keep the warmth in. I am not sure if you are limited to how much tea you can have. On occasions I have had two pots and was not charged extra.
The tea is a treat to myself that I really enjoy. I would recommend this to anyone. Even my son enjoys going. In June I went with my son and my grand-daughter (she was 14 months old) we had a great time.

This is exactly what I see happening with us in the next couple years (except for the golf thing). I take my parents in the winter (they're 85) and that might not happen too much anymore. My DH and I go together once a year, usually in August. Those winter trips may become my solo trips, and my plan is an AKV value studio.:goodvibes

I would double check the time of the tea. We had a 5 something ADR last year, and we arrived at 5:15, and they couldn't accomodate us. We were told that it ended at 5:30 and if we only wanted tea, it would be OK, but if we wanted the whole service, then no.

It turned out OK, we had dinner at the cafe there, which was very nice, and we never would have known about it. I'll try the tea another time.

Thanks Bobbi; I'll keep that in mind.

I don't think it would be for me. When my wife and kids are out of town and I am home alone, I don't like it and feel out of sorts. This could be due to the fact that I have never lived alone, I went from living with my parents to being married. A large part of the attraction of WDW for me is sharing the experience with my family. If you are comfortable being alone and enjoy the solitude I can see how great it would be to combine that with the great feeling of being at WDW, i just don't fit in that category.

Thanks for the replies. Very interesting

Does anyone ever feel guilty that they are in WDW and the family is at home?

I think I could pull it off :goodvibes Like I said, I am not the best traveler, but once I am off the plane I think I could get in the spirit

i recently took my first solo WDW trip this past labor day week. my divorce was just finalized, she had moved out of the house unexpectedly, so on and so on, so i needed a place to go and get my head back in place. i couldnt think of a better place then "WdW"

i spoke with both of my sons, we made many family trips, just to explain to them why i am going alone. not a bit of disappointment in fact encouragement and just" enjoy yourself Dad you deserve it" so off i went.

it was weird at first, very weird i must admit. i felt a bit self conscious walking for the bus but while i walking along i decided that the first bus that arrived is the park i was going to . i couldnt have done that if i was traveling with the family. epcot came first. when i arrived at epcot i went over to soarin and immediately grabbed a fastpass and went on. the crowds were low so i rode it and then walked on again. i went to TT the to MS back to TT the back to MS and i just did what i wanted to do when i wanted to do it.

i was able to do so much in that first hour that i had so much time to spare i went and tried all the drinks in club cool. even drank a full cup of beverly because i could. then sat by the fountains and enjoyed the music.

i was feeling a bit alone at times because i did miss my sons, they both were so supportive of me throughout my divorce ordeal, i wished they were there with me. i spoke to them and all they could say was "are you enjoying yourself" so i stopped worrying about that and i had a nice relaxing and fun time.

i would do it again if i didnt have anyone to go with but honestly i would prefer not to travel solo to WDW.

Although I have not booked a separate trip solo, I have found myself with a few days to myself. The last time was in September, my DS and DH had to go home a couple of days early for a golf tournament and a business meeting, and rather than go back with them, I decided to stay the extra couple of days. It was wonderful! One afternoon I went to DTD and wandered around, it was really great to not feel guilty about it and I got to leave when I was ready to leave! I would definitely do it again, I might even PLAN to do it again!
