With the weather outside so cold, we spent most of this long weekend at home, cooking, playing board games, doing crafts, baking cookies, etc. and while everyone else was watching TV or playing video games, I walked around our apartment listening to music and straightening up - making beds, cleaning the kitchen, putting things away... And I really enjoyed it. I'm finally old enough to admit I find it relaxing! And I love the way everything looks afterwards. Am I the only one?

I don't enjoy it but I do it multiple times every day because I like everything to be in its place and clean.

I love it when I have a few hours to myself and I have the chance to get the whole apartment in order. Of course, it's rare that I am home alone so I just do what I can DH is sleeping and go back and do the bedroom later on but it's not the same.

Cleaning, straightening, whatever you want to call it; I am addicted! If my environment seems the least bit out of control I get antsy. I think I may have control issues?!:scratchin

Nope - I hate tidying up. But weirdly, I love heavy cleaning and really enjoy tackling a big job. I get a lot of personal satisfaction from a task that has a definite beginning and end, and where you can easily observe the good outcome of your efforts. Tidying up is just a drag - with others in the house you can often start over by the time you're done.

I don't mind picking up and putting things away. I hate clutter. I like having a place for everything.

I definitely like things neat and tidy. I enjoy tidying up but it usually bugs me because most times it's not my mess. I would like a much cleaner house than what I actually have.

Yes to the bold. It's beyond frustrating. I'm always a little shocked at how quick someone coming home undoes everything I just did.

I enjoy the short time things look nice and neat but hate doing it because it's never ending.

I probably have control issues too! I do like for everything to have its place. We have a bench by the front door with cubbies under it. Kids know to take their shoes off and put them in the cubbies when they come in. It makes things a lot tidier and everyone knows where to find their shoes when we leave the house. Things like this give me an inordinate amount of pleasure!

Yes, for the most part, I do. I love things being in relative order without being too stressed about it - especially when we leave - for a few hours, or vacation - can't stand to return to a messy house.

This is EXACTLY how I feel. I actually enjoy cleaning the bathrooms because of this exact reason. With three kids, multiple sports and activities, papers from school, etc, tidying NEVER ends.

No I hate it.
I have 3 young kids, it feels pointless. Straitening up this house is like brushing your teeth while eating an Oreo.
As they get older they are getting better at picking up some of their own mess. Although DD1 (almost 2) is like a full blown Hurricane.

When I saw the topic I immediately thought of my olde arthritic bones trying to get vertical after sitting for too long. Nope, can't say I enjoy straightening up, but once I get there, it's o.k. :)

Yes. I do it every night before I go to bed. It only takes a few minutes to tidy things and I love waking up to an orderly home in the mornings.

I thought of my Dad telling me to "Straighten Up!" when I was a kid that had screwed up.

As far as cleaning/straightening up, I don't like it - but I like a mess less.

I do like straightening up, especially organizing, but I hate cleaning! I'm definitely feeling like nothing stays done lately.
