Do you eat on the Plane to Florida

Do you eat on the flight to Florida?

  • Yes, I eat the food provided by the airline (and maybe my own snacks too)

  • I eat some of the airline food (but maybe eat my own food/snacks)

  • I don't eat any of the airline food, but take my own food with me

  • I don't eat at all (neither airline food nor my own food)

Have been reading another thread regarding "what you do on your first night" and have been intrigued to read that a lot of people don't eat on the plane... I would starve if I didn't eat for 9 hours (or, probably, at least feint - my blood sugar is a bit sensitive)!

So thought that I would post a poll.... :)

Where is the poll :confused3

I don't usually eat the food on the plane. The day before we fly out I go to Marks and Spencers and get lots of nice things. That as well as some bottled water, chocolate, my ipod, portable dvd player and lots and lots of magazines keeps me going :thumbsup2

I am in the minority, I actually like plane food!

I always try and eat the Virgin meals provided, I am a fussy eater though so I must admit there are times when I do not eat that much - although I always ensure I drink plenty of water.

Take sandwiches/crisps/fruit juice for Josh ;)

See it now ~ Think I must have been too quick for the boards :rotfl2:

I'm a really really fussy eater, and don't like different mixes of food (which most plane food has)

i tend to eat certain bits of a meal and leave the rest. Then eat anything I've brought with me.
also take my own juice. :)

To answer my own question...

I tend to eat the airplane food - sometimes don't like the meat/chicken in the hot entree (BA don't tend to have a veggie option unless you pre-order it), but will eat all of the rest. May swap sandwiches with the other half (i.e. give him a chicken one and get a cheese one back...)

Only tend to take some sweets - so generally don't take any additional food snacks.

The Marks and Spencers tip from Florence is a GREAT idea...

Me too, I love plane food and all the little bits that come with it :)

We usually eat the meals provided (the kids love to see what they're getting), although I'm a vegatarian, and have to pre order my meal - not complaining, as I always get served first!!
We always take sweets/snacks too, especially for take off/landing.
Last year I was in 'healthy' mode and took a few packs of ricecakes. What a mistake - I had crumbs all over the place!!! Not doing that this year!

On the way out, I eat almost everything put in front of me :teeth: . I voted for the first option, but I can't imagine wanting my own snacks as well. The meals provided on the plane are more than enough, especially following breakfast in the airport or lounge.

On the way home I'm never that hungry and just tend to pick at things, more to pass the time than anything else.

I always eat on the plane, as much to pass the time as anything else ;)

It's not haute cuisine but it is part of the holiday :teeth:

I find that when the food is being prepared it smells disgusting, but when it comes to you its usually quite nice, there is deffinalty something for everyone even if it is small.

I usually eat some of it, but not all as they provide far too much. I only take water with me, never sweets or chocolate and I NEVER drink alcohol on a flight. I didn't used to bother taking water but if the seatbelt sign is on for a long time, I like to have it easily available.

I don't eat very much when we fly PE, but tend to eat much more when in UC! I much prefer the freedom service as one my annoyances is when they choose to serve the food - often at the most inconvenient times.

Although even with the "Freedom Service" they try to strongly "encourage" you to eat straight away after take-off. If you say that you would rather wait, they tend to ask you "are you ready to eat yet" about every 15 minutes... :rotfl:

I eat selectively on board. BA always serve a salad as a starter and it's the most bitter revolting green leaves with rubbery mozzarella so I never eat it. The main meal is usually ok and I do eat it. Dessert, sometimes depending what it is. It's usually fine.

I HATE HATE HATE the afternoon snack. I would usually just eat the filled roll/sandwich but in the past few years I've found them inedible. Icy cold and fatty meat. So I often have my own snack for this time of the flight. Snack packs of Pringles are good. I also take water on the plane as like to have it handy on demand lol.

I will admit, I do take wine with my meal. I know the thing about not drinking alcohol when flying etc, but it's not much and doesn't do me any harm. I drink fresh orange juice and water otherwise.

Agreed, I also have a little to drink on the plane - maybe a glass of Champagne or two and maybe a glass of Port. But, I esnure that I more than balance it by drinking plenty of water and juice etc.

I also take a bottle of water, or two, on the plane with me: apart from having to carry it on, you can't have too much water on a flight :)
