We drive. When we lived in Alabama, it was a one day trip, about 10 hours, because we made a long lunch stop.
Now that we are driving from DC, we take two days. We leave at about 4 AM, make a breakfast stop and have a picnic lunch at a rest area, then go on to Brunswick, GA. We just wake up when we wake up the next morning, the head to WDW.

so much for the savings on airfare. OK.K since we would need the repair eventually we said it was not fair to count it as a trip cost. Fair enough. The repair we needed AFTER we got home...because of the wear and tear on the van...THAT one counts. We had awesome travel weather for Dec, but the traffic thru Nashville was so stressful! All in all we took 2 days (have 2 kids and we wanted to feel rested, not fried upon arrival) Also we spent a lot on gas, and with all the coffee we were drinking....a LOT of reststops
Iwould drive again if I were in a newer vehicle, one that did not require any repairs, had at least 2 weeks, and traveled lightly. We had a ton of Xmas stuff w/us(visiting family) and loading and unloading all that stuff for the hotels was a nightmare! Added a bunch of time to our travel. Live and learn...I am glad we tried it tho. As much as I hate delays while flying, to me it is still less stressful as we are free to not concentrate on the driving and the crazy drivers out there. Going through GA wasdefinitely a white knuckle day!
