Do you "dress" for a TS meal?

Do you "dress" for a TS dinner?

For ten out of my eleven trips, I dressed up for exactly one meal (I wore a casual dress to have tea at the Grand Floridian). If I was having dinner at the Brown Derby or at one of the nicer Epcot restaurants, I'd just wear a nicer top than usual that day. However, the trip before last, my cousin broached the idea of dressing up for two of our meals. They weren't signature restaurants, either, just days when we had a mid-day break. It made the whole dinner experience feel more special. I didn't pack any special clothes last time, and I missed wearing pretty skirts and dresses for dinner. For our trip this October, I've already discussed dressing up a little with my parents. Mom is totally up for it, and Dad's always willing to wear a nice shirt and khakis.

Although I voted "only for a signature dinner", we also usually dress nicer for our non-signature dinners too.

I don't change for dinner. The only restaurant I'd really "dress" for at WDW is Victoria and Albert's.

My park clothes meet the dress code for the signature restaurants, which after all is only:

No tank tops, swimwear, hats (for men), cut offs or torn clothing.

Jeans are specifically permitted, so I'm good! :thumbsup2 I am giving my guests instructions not to bring any of the following to WDW at all, with the exception of swimwear. That way I don't have to worry about anyone having to change for dinner.

We like to dress nice, but still very casual, for dinner at signature restaurants. That means capris, a nice top, and sandals. I'm bringing one sundress on our August trip, which I'll probably wear to CG.

We're in the minority I'm sure but we always go back to our resort, shower, have a cocktail and then head out for dinner. Don't necessarily "dress up" unless it's a signature restaurant.:goodvibes

Second that! :thumbsup2 (especially the cocktail part!)

I had to wear tank tops last August--it was so hot! And if I have to put on a different shirt for dinner, I'd like to be clean when I do it.

When we went in Dec., the "wear to the parks what we wear to dinner" theory worked much better. In fact, I think we wore jeans to all dinners except Cali Grill. But in the heat, I have to shower.

We always dress nicely for a sit down dinner. No shorts, no T-Shirts, no jeans, no sneakers.

My teen boys complain, but I tell them it wont kill them for an hour of their lives. It is the way I was brought up and hopefully the way they will raise their children. A pair of Dockers and a polo shirt for the men, nice skirt/pants and top for the woman. My 4 year old daughter acts completely different when she is wearing a pretty dress..she acts like a little lady. When she is in shorts/t-shirt, she is still in playtime mode.

Really nice places would require shirt and tie for the boys, though only V&A would qualify at Disney.

My mother, on the other hand, dresses nicely 24/7...she could probably get away with parkwear for dinner!

That was my vote but it also varies; it's as much about cleaning up as "dressing" up. Resort signatures: we always go home, clean up and change into resort casual, nothing fancy unless V&A. Park signatures: we dress nicer than tees and shorts. Since we don't go in the summer, usually we can get away with a bathroom refresh, wearing nice Capri pants and a pretty blouse (or bring a fresh top for changing). Though say, if going to Bistro, and we'd gotten hot, sweaty, we'd probably dash home for a quick refresh/change. Other park TS like SciFi: we just wear our normal park clothes. FWIW.

We always take a pool break during the afternoon, so cleaning up is a given anyway. Having said that, we always dress more nicely for dinner, especially when it's at a signature restaurant. The hubby and I don't get out to dinner much while we're at home, so vacation is a chance for us to "date" again and that means we take the time to spruce ourselves up for each other.

Jay usually wears dockers and a polo shirt (if it's really hot he might wear shorts, but that's pretty rare at dinner) and I like to wear nice sundresses (comfy and cute).

We are probbaly in the minority but we're of the mind that atmposhere and patrons are as much a part of the dining experience as the food and service. We dress nicely out of respect for each other as well as the other guests that we will be sharing the restaurant with that evening.

If we happen to have taken an afternoon break (and we almost always do) we'll generally change into fresh clothes for dinner. Though if we happened to be in the park for the full day, we wouldn't think twice about dining in "park clothes" unless it was a more upscale dinner.

Ditto!!! We don't do signature restaraunts so we don't worry about dressing fancy. But if we happen to go back to the room for a rest or nap, we shower and change.

Very well stated Bendy, we agree 100%!!:thumbsup2

Only for the signatures (actually I usually have dinner mostly at signatures), and even there most of the time I am wearing jeans (usually white or black ones but sometimes blue). I'm going to assume they won't wreck anyone's guest experience, and believe me, nobody I'm with cares what I have on. And I am generally going to the Adventurers Club after dinner, not that it matters what one wears there (and it definitely won't after September)

Yes, we do go back to our room to shower and change clothes before going out for dinner.

I will never forget our last trip while dining at Narcoosies when a man walked by with his family and he just reeked with body odor.

Exactly why we nap, shower, change every day. Our park attire is always sweaty and yucky after our park day. We feel so refreshed after we do this routine. We would not consider doing it any other way in the summer. The heat just drains us all out.

However, when we go at Christmas time, if it is cold out it is easier to stay at a park and let Rachel nap in her stroller/wheelchair. Most especially this is true when we stay at Epcot to tour the world showcase in the evening for the storytellers and all the Christmas ambience. No sweating so no yucky feeling, and we are not nearly as drained out and tired. The warm hotel room feels so good on those evenings!! I can't wait til our Dec. trip!!

We always go back to the room mid day to nap and swim so we shower and dress nicer for ts dinner but we don't wear "dressy" clothes. During the day though if we do TS lunch or breakfast we just go as we are.

Since our park time these days is limited (we're usually out of the parks by noon) we have plenty of time to go back to the room, change, and go to dinner (almost always at Signature restaurants). We also have a car, making it much easier to get to the restaurants.
However--we make no special effort to overdress, or dress "up". Most times I'll be in kaki pants or shorts and a collared polo. Mrs. U in slacks or shorts and either a Disney T or a light summer blouse. If we are in shorts we'll wear tennis shoes. IF not, it's loafers for me and sandals for Mrs U.

We're also in the group that likes to head back to the room, shower, freshen up, have a cocktail and gear up for the evening activities. DH & I were both raised in Disney families, have always lived an hour or two from O-Town and go to the parks (all of 'em) every month or two. After about five or six hours in any theme park, we're ready for a shower, a break from the lines and theme park music, a foot soak and a cocktail (at a reasonable price) in some air-conditioning.

So we usually head back to our hotel mid afternoon, recharge for the evening and wear something more appropriate for evening stuff. This is the case whether we're heading back to a theme park, a resort at WDW, SW or USO for dinner, DTD or Citywalk or even just a nice dinner off site somewhere (we always fit in a fondue meal at the Melting Pot now).

But I do often wear nice fitted jeans, a dressy blouse and nice shoes. Chicks can get away with jeans sometimes ;)

For us it depends on what we have been doing that day and whether or not we feel like going back to the resort and changing. More often than not, we head to the restaurant in our shorts and tops that we have worn into the park.
