Do you "display" your pins?

Just wondering how everyone displays thier pins? Do you frame them, keep them in an album, keep them on a lanyard, or just keep them in a box? I've got a few of mine from my last trip in 08 on my lanyard hanging from my rear view mirror in my car. Every time I drive anywhere, I can look at those and remember my last trip. We're going again in Oct, and am looking for ideas on how I'm going to display the new ones. Does anyone have any pictures of thier pin displays?

I cut :scared1: the backs off and use them as embellishments in my scrapbooks. It took a bit to get the nerve up to do it, but I enjoy looking at the pages even more with the pins included. And since I don't trade them or expect to sell them one day, it works for me.

Mine are displayed in a shadow box, in the order I acquired them (I collect them from everywhere I go). However, this year, I'm getting some of the cheap pin lots on Ebay, and making Christmas ornaments for my nieces/nephews.

For my teenage son's rooms we bought 12 x 12 corkboard that we then covered in a black faux leather and hung on his wall. It took two of those to display all of his pins :lmao: Everytime I go in there I am jealous of his pin display and am now trying to convince my youngest son to let me "borrow" his pins to display in my scrapbook room ;)

We got some artist canvases - covered them in a plain fabric (pink) and have the pins displayed on those. We've got ours by category - one canvas is fairies, one is princesses and one is misc.

Great idea but i would be too afraid to hang my in my car. I love the bling bling type pins and have tons of pins with rhinestones throughout so for sure i think someone would break in my car to get them. lol I do however have my lanyard hanging in my room, i have thought of framing them in some way.

I read on here that someone framed their pins, and I thought that was a great idea.... How would you go about doing that? Right now we have all of our pins that we are not trading in a pin collecting book, but I think that we could frame them and hang them in the basement. That way we could look at them instead of having them in a book...

In my case, I made a custom frame with a heavy piece of cardboard covered by some old material. I take off the pinbacks, put a little dab of hot glue on the back and push it into back. The top of the frame screws on to the long sides and I take that off, pull out the glass, put the pins in, then put it back together. Am currently looking at redesigning the frame so the glass is hinged and easier to maneuver.

What a great idea! Don't mind if I copy... :)

I have a couple of lanyards full of pins hung up in a hallway (on two nails each so they hang well enough to see all the pins) and plans to make a couple of shadow boxes after our next trip. But I like this canvas idea better.

I love the canvas idea, too! Right now, most of my pins are in one of the pin collecting books, but I'd love to have them out where I can enjoy them every day.

Does anyone else wear theirs? I have several Mickey pins and some holiday pins that I will throw on my shirt and wear to work. They help keep me chipper throughout the day!

I've been collecting pins (both Disney and non) for years now and I wear mine so I like easy access. Like a previous poster mentioned, I store mine on cork board, sorted by subject. I do have 2 Disney books of pins - one is the set Millennium set and the other is the 100 Years of Dreams set. I also have about 10 (?) tins of pins. For a while, whenever Disney released a movie from the vault, you could buy a themed tin that included about 5 pins inside to go with the movie. But I like the cork board best simply because it allows me easy access and they're pretty easy to store. All told I have 2000+ pins.

ETA: Momtortk: It may not be your cup of tea but one of the biggest reasons I digital scrap is to include my pins in my layouts. Not only can I photograph them but if you put down a piece of plastic first to protect the glass and make sure you don't put the cover down all the way, you can scan them as well.

we some times use a pin hat for days that we want to show off pins and we have a bookbag for putting pins on:thumbsup2

We don't collect big gobs of pins like everyone else, but when we first went to Disney together, we got a Ranger hat from the Mercantile in Wilderness Lodge, and we've been putting the pins we do get on it. We usually end up with 2-3 per trip: always a dated one, if there's a special event (MNSSHP, F&WF) we'll get that one, and maybe a couple of others. The pins that we get from the tours we've been on are on there as well. It's a great reminder for us when we see it, and a great conversation piece with others.

:hippie:

We display ours in a shadow box. We took a plastic mesh and attached black felt to the mesh. For the pin backs that do not hold too well we replaced the back with the butterfly type.

I use a French memo board - the kind that has criss-crossed ribbons to stick photos, cards, etc. into. I attach the pins to the ribbons. One board holds a lot of pins and they are easily accessible and fun to look at.

On a lanyard, hanging right here on my computer rack, so I can be inspired whenever I browse the forums...

I'm actually thinking of making a shadow box type display this time. I'm going to "scrapbook it" with a cool Disney paper background glued to a piece of thin cardboard and stick my pins thru that. Maybe I'll also add a photo or two of our trip and some Disney emelishment stickers. What do you guys think of this idea? Anyone done something similar? Would love to see some pics!
