I have been dipping in and out of this forum for a few years now and enjoyed the time I ahve spent here, but it seems to be a little quiet at the moment.

I was wondering if it was the same over on the "other" forum, or whether people are just not planning as much as they have done (recession related)?

Yes I do but never post offers or info in new threads on there, I often take them from there and post on here but after posting 1 or 2 realised I got no thanks for doing it, the mods just move things from somewhere useful to a wherever they feel like putting them.
I also find it a very argumentative forum, if you don't agree with what they think it can get very unpleasant, I think on here majority of us understand theres no right and no wrong planning a trip to Florida, we are all different.
Probably due to amount of members they have they get the same questions asked over and over, often all the same page, no-one seems to read before posting.
I will help whenever I can on there as I do here but majority on there are user names(a few exceptions)to me, on DIS (UKTP & UK Comm) we are a lot closer and I class everyone as friends with names not users and usernames. I would honestly like to meet every single person that posts on here without exception, I couldn't say that about any other forum I use.

Yes its not as busy on here but IMO its quality, Dibb is quantity. Not sure if its recession related or not, hopefully more will keep joining us here.

I registered on there a few months after I found the DIS but I never got to grips with it and didn't find it very friendly so I just use the DIS now.

It has been quiet here lately but I think that may have something to do with the school holidays coming up & the weather being so nice too.

Been dibbing lately but get better advice form here. Straight to the point here where as there i think people reply to up their number of posts. But saying that any information is good and its also good to read Trip reports from anywhere to get your "fix"

I remember looking at dibb a long time ago. I used to sit next to a Disser at work - Dizneemad in fact - and he mentioned both of them to me as I was looking for a change from a Florida forum I used to go on (it was full of villa owners and if you ever asked a question thats not related to villa holidays you either get ignored or lambasted :sad2:)
It didn't take much for me to realise that I preferred the general 'feel' of Dis. It all seemd to be a lot more light hearted, and as daft as this may sound it had more of a 'holiday' feel to it as opposed to Dib which seemed to be more functional and argumentative.
I think DW visits Dib but don't think she posts.

Not been there for nearly 4 years. Much nicer here and on other sites as well :)

Claire ;)

i'm going to agree with wayne, i lurked on both this forum and the dibb when researching our first holiday to wdw. did not like the way the dibb was set up and i found this forum to have a good community feel about it. what i like about it here is if anybody sees any good deals or advice they post it for the benifit of others, it took me months lurking before joining so if anybody is lurking out there come and join us everyone on here will give you a huge welcome :goodvibes

I didnt know about Dibb until a few months ago when someone mentioned it to me.
Id been lurking on this board for ages before i finally posted on here. :thumbsup2
I had a quick look at the start of the year but didnt really spend long and havent been back. Im sure i may look there when im planning other holidays but its a great site here and everyones so great :goodvibes
I can find out everything i need in the UK section, this board is massive and i know if i want more info i can just look on the other areas of the board.
we're all different and im sure some prefer Dibb but for me its DIS :cool1:

I am also registered on both and see some people from here over there but I only look every couple of weeks at the Dibb but I am on here a couple of times a day (less now than when I was on maternity leave :rolleyes1)

I love being on here and feel I know a lot of the posters.

The dibb is too busy with threads disappearing of the first page and getting lost too quickly and apart from the people I recognise from here I would say I don't even recognised any of the regualr posters user names let alone know anything about them.

I am regsitered on the Dibb (same user name as here), but I've only posted a couple of times. I lurk occassionally, but I find it a different sort of forum - most stay offsite usually in villas. I've found through lurking in the planning forum a bit more information for uk travellers then you find on here, but I much prefer the DIS :thumbsup2

The only thing I refer to on the Dibb is the villa location map which is quite useful......

Other than that I have no need to visit the Dibb as I get all the useful info I need on here and I have to say it is one of the most friendliest forums I have ever posted on  (I don't post on that many tho :rotfl:).

Ali :goodvibes

I've never heard of the DIBB! I don't go on any other forums - everything I need to know is on the DIS :goodvibes I like the fact the DIS had seperate forums for different things: most of the time I go on TPA&S, UK, Trip Reports and Universal boards. :thumbsup2

Like Ali I have used for the villa map.

I am a member on there, but that is purely because I got a pm from a friend on the DIS saying someone on the DIBB had received a receipt for my disabled parking permit, basically sent to his address by mistake.

I think I have about 5 posts on there and 6,500 plus on here.

One thing that is definitely true is this forum is a lot quieter these days and it is probably to do with the recession, a lot do not post if they have no holiday booked, which is understandable.

I have been a member of the Dibb for a while but I rarely post there now. To be honest they can get a bit snipey if you don't agree with them and so I haven't posted for quite a while now. You can find out quite a lot from their planning boards though if you trawl through them.

I am a member on both and I must admit do go on both daily.

I like Dis for the friendliness and info but do like a few bits of Dibb that we don't have on here. They have a Special Needs section which is not just in relation to Disney but for any families with special needs and I have also sold a few things on the Sale boards.

Also, I like their Villa section as I would feel much happier renting a villa from one of their owners rather than "Mr/Mrs Annonymous" on the internet.

All in all, I think that both boards have a place and cater for slightly different needs.

Seems to us that people just love talking about Disney whether they are going next week, next year, or not going at all! There's definitely less folk heading to florida and those who are are seem to be shopping very carefully we've seen. Both forums are really useful in their own way - we just recently found the DIBB and it has loads of reviews on companies selling tickets which we found really reassuring when looking for tickets online. The advertiser forum is good to see deals as they are offered. DIS users seem to cover absolutely everything related to a Disney visit that our family can ever think of in lots of useful detail and the experience of DIS posters is very obvious. Keep up the good work everyone, wherever you post we appreciate it.

I joined the Dibb a couple of months ago, mainly because I was interested in DVC, and their DVC board seems to be frequented more often than 'our' UK DVC board.

But to be honest, I haven't found it to be overly friendly to 'newbies' - other than when my Dis mates spot me over there!!:lovestruc

Whether they feel I haven't much to offer them as I am new to their boards, I don't know - but I haven't yet felt the same friendliness and rapport that we all have over here!!

I do occasionally check in there for DVC updates & I quite like their restaurant threads, as I like to hear about the offsite eateries - but I much prefer it over here and there is a LOT more info here :thumbsup2 - in fact, I really love the DIS !!!!!:love::love:
