Do you DIBB ? (Can I ask that?)

I too have a user name on the dibb too but i only really browse on there and like wayneg said if something interesting comes up i will post the info on here - I have found i very argumentatitive at times and my trip report over on the dibb was met with a surprising amount of emails on how inappropriate it is to mention our trip to GKTW this astounded me as i thought i was meant to report on my trip not just write the same as the next person.
I love the dis as everyone is so friendly and I really believe I KNOW some of the people on here as everyone gives a little of themselves too !!
Big up the DIS !!!

I am a member of the dibb too but as said before there is a lot of arguing and not so nice people , but there is a regulars who travel a lot and have great info, but i think if i was wanting my question asked by people i "know" and trust a wee bit more i would ask it here.

I lurk there but have had my nose bitten off a few times.

I joined here first in 2003, and then the DIBB maybe a year or so later, it's not at all as friendly as here, and everyone who has said that if you don't agree with what they say then you get your head bitten off is right. I know we all occasionally have our moments like that but it's every other thread over there.

I sometimes post there but not at all as often as here! :)

The Dis Rocks!!!!

I look on there now and again as they seem to have more variety of threads recently than on here.

I agree the atmosphere doesnt seem as friendly and they do have alot of posters that seem to post exactly what they are thinking :goodvibes

On the other hand this board has become quiet recently and the majority of threads tend to be on the same few subjects::rolleyes:

single digit dance (sorry - but yawn)
ADR's (er yawn again :))

and not forgetting the multiple variations of "which moderate ?"

Still prefer it here though

i post on both with the same username and as turkeyleg.
i find that the dibb can be a bit of a lovin :grouphug: and they dont like you disagreeing, as someone else says it is all about quantity not about quality of posts what often annoys me about the dibb is alot of the questions could be answered by googling it or by phoneing or emailing the company concerned for a definetive answer. but hey i am just a miserable git
but my biggest hate of all on all forums is the "sorry i cant help you but i am sure someone will be a long in a minute who can " posts. :surfweb:

im sorry i have no opinion but im sure there will be someone along soon who does....:rotfl::rotfl:

I DIBB - Mrs_Dazzle on there, too.

Probably spent equal amounts of time on both sites; both have their good and not so good points:cool2:

I agree, things do seem to have gotten a little heated over there just recently. Don't really know why, but it makes for interesting reading:rolleyes1;) Some people do seem to take themselves a little too seriously - on both sites. But then thank goodness we're not all the same!

I quite like the different forums on the DIBB, partiularly because we're not Disney-mad and tend to holiday in Florida away from Orlando; I also enjoy their debate and general (non-Florida) trip planning forums.

I personally don't really like all the "I've just had my trillionth post" type threads - don't really see what benefit they are, it's not a competition. Or the DD/SD dances. However, you don't have to read them - just hover your mouse over the top of a post and you can see what it's about and whether to open it to read.

Thank goodness we're all different! Imagine how boring chat forums would be if we were all Stepford-esque:scared1::laughing:

Let's not be competitive about this; just treat people with respect, acknowledge any answers to threads you have posted, be polite and - most importantly - enjoy being part of the forum's family :thumbsup2

I fully agree Annie, both sites are here to stay and they are both offer something different to the other. I am sure if you asked users on the Dibb about DIS they would say their site is better(when they have done argueing about it:rotfl2:)

wayneg
your not being fair on the dibb.
the would be 5 active threads about which was best and it would come down to wether or not you can do it without a car.

the one thing for sure is you can make funny haha comments on here and people have a laugh.

:lmao:
I have been on the dis now for over 10 years :thumbsup2 and the dibb for about 6 yrs, i prefer the dis more, because the dibb is too fast- there are too many pages to catch up with, the same questions are asked all the time, and sometimes on the same page.there does seem like some sort of a clique going on as well. the dibb does offer good info but i feel you have to sift through alot to get to it. both the dis and dibb set out to help us with our wdw holidays!so what we can gleam from each of them can only help us! my heart is with the dis first of all though. :goodvibes

After reading all the comments about how argumentative things are over on the Dibb I might have to pop on and throw a couple of hand grenades in. :lmao:

As for the SDD - if you haven't got a trip booked, or are a long way off from going, I suppose it wold be hard to summon up the enthusiasm and share in the excitement of someone who has been planning a trip for the last 3 years and has finally got to a where it is only a week away.
Personally I don't mind it and will happily join in the fun.
Speaking of which it is only 8 days until I return home to my family in the UK - so here is my SDD

 :dance3:

It is another Florida based forum, very similar to this and others out there.

If you google Dibb it will no doubt come out on top :thumbsup2

i just noticed you're going home next week....is that for good, or just a home visit?

i'll join you in your dance!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Not for good I'm afraid. I am home for 4 weeks then come back out here for 8 weeks. After that 8 weeks I travel overnight to the UK, landing Monday morning, then on Tuesday we travel to Manchester and fly out to Florida on the Wednesday. Hopefully those 8 weeks will fly by :thumbsup2

i hope so too!!

and now i understand why you're posting 'so early in the morning' :goodvibes

what time is it where you are? almost 9 am? almost 10 am?

Very interesting reading and a nice, balanced reply to my original question.

Looks like I am a DIS'er at heart, so will be spending more time here than there! This site was particularly good when we planned our wedding on the Weddings section and we found a few excellent suppliers based on DIS recommendations.

It is always difficult to break the ice when joining a new forum, so I think I will just carry on hanging out here, my "hoe" for Diney planning!

Ironically, aftr stating that it was quiet here, I logged nack in and found an entire page of unread posts and this one had reached 4 pages.....superb !

That just goes to show one of the main differences between the 2 forums I would think - based on peoples replies that is.
Most posters will only post on something they know something about or can contribute to - as opposed to trying to bump up the post count. And rather than answering the same question numerous times Dissers will post the link to the thread that had covered the topic before.
Like all good forums any good original post will generate all sorts of answers and comments - taking the debate in all directions, and long may this continue :thumbsup2
