Do you check his pockets when you do laundry?

I don't go out of my way to check his pockets. I love it when I find $$$ in the washer or dryer that has fallen out of his pockets. I just keep it (he's ok with that). He doesn't get mad at me when his wallet or other important things go through the wash. He might start to get annoyed, but he knows it's his own fault. I have a lot of laundry to do and I think everyone should help out by checking thier own pockets. I know I really can't rely on that 100% because occassionally we get the crayon in the washer or dryer and I kick myself for not checking.

I check his pockets and whatever I find in them is mine. I've found alot of money that goes into the Disney fund over the years. :teeth: I've also found alot of important phone numbers, etc that would be forever lost.

I check everybody's pockets before I put them in the washer. I just don't want to end up with something (like a pen) in the pockets ending up all over a clean load of laundry!

I have learned to check pockets. I have washed numerous things from homework, paychecks, and money. Sometimes I get lucky and my dh forgets he had money in the pockets and I get to keep it. If he washes a load through the week, then it is his problem if he washes anything of his. Every time he washes I always find loose change in the bottom of the washing machine.

No time to read all the replies, just my two cents from reading the OP.

I do not check DH's pockets, if his clothes are in the laundry than the assumption is that there is nothing in the pockets. For DH to chew me out for his mistake would put him in the dog house. He needs to take responsibility for his own pockets!! Now if I happen to feel something odd as I am loading the machine I would definitely investigate, but otherwise no I wouldn't.

I didnt read the entire thread so this may have been addressed already, but I would just not do his laundry. Hes a grown man for heavens sake. My son is 14 and has been doing his own (mostly) for 3 years.

Didn't read everything either bit nope I don't check his pockets. Anything lost in the washer, money or otherwise, becomes mine. I've had many minty fresh loads of laundry from those Listerine Pocket Pack Strips.

Another person who doesn't check pockets. We have been married for 28 years. We have hampers in my son's room, the room where I have my clothes and in the master bedroom. My husband is the only one who primarily uses the hampers in the master bedroom. I have threatened to make him do his own laundry, because he not only leaves things in his pockets, he turns his clothes inside out, and puts dark clothes in with the whites and whites in with the darks (there are three partitions in the hamper in the master bedroom). The past two weeks, somehow the hamper got turned around, and the loads were totally mixed--a layer of dark alternating with a layer of white. That's when I told him that it shouldn't be that complicated to notice that you are throwing your underwear onto the dark pile. I told him that I don't want my underwear to turn dirty gray because he can't be troubled to watch where he is throwing his clothes. I always fold his clothes inside out if that is how they go into the washer. (He turns our son's clothes inside out, too, but, I turn his right side out when I put them away). I just have to shake my head in astonishment.

Here's an update. His check register was salvaged. When I got home last night he did apologize for getting so angry, and we joked around about it a lot. He then tried to bribe me to check his pockets :rotfl: He showed me a wad of cash, said "hey, you never know when there might be diamonds in my pockets," and I can keep whatever I find. :rotfl2:

I told him I was not going to check his pockets, but if I feel that his pants seem heavy, I will take a look.

So, I guess we are all set ... until the next time!

I check pockets and so does my DH. We both do laundry equally.
