I buy Boars Head because it is preservative/gluten/filler free. It costs more than the regular meats, but I am trying to make some healthier food choices for the family. It really is delicious meat!!
All I buy is Boars Head, except for cheese I'm lessy pick about cheese. Once in a while DH will buy store brand ham or turkey, by the time I cut out all of the yucky stuff I only have 3/4's of a slice.
I only buy Boars Head cold cut meats. Other brands don't even come close.
I usually get the ham and the baloney. The Golden Classic chicken is very good (espcially the Blazin Buffalo flavor, mmm) as is the lower sodium turkey without the skin.
As far as cheese, I also go for the Land O Lakes and can't seem to get enough of that!
Oh, my Stop and Shop in Whitman carries Boar's Head. If I do the shopping, that's what we get. If DH does the shopping he'll sometimes come home with other stuff. He also buys a lot of cold cuts at the small deli he delivers to.
Same here...
I also buy Boar's Head from a local deli/sandwich shop instead of the grocery store, I save a few pennies and support local business.
If I had more time, I would cook off chicken and turkey then slice it myself, but until that happens, Boar's Head it is

The supermarkets and delicatessens I used to use in NY didn't carry any other brands so I really didn't have a choice! Haven't gone out of my way for deli in PA yet, but I think it's the same here. Is Boars Head a monopoly?
I wouldn't mind actually, because Boars Head had consistently good products when I did buy deli meats on a frequent basis. I enjoyed their Virginia Ham and their Bologna, and their Roast beef was quite good when I wanted to splurge on a treat.
Ham and Salami I get as thin as possible. Turkey or Roast Beef depending on what I do with it. If I am planning for just regular sandwiches - thin - if I am planning it for a quick dinner (Hot Open Faced Sandwiches) I like it a bit thicker.
