Do you bring your tickets and magic bands the first time you go to a park just in case there is a problem w the magic bands? Yes, magic bands are linked in MDE.

No. Really in today's technology age, there's no reason at all to ever bring paper tickets (as long as you have a smart phone).

We've only ever brought our magic bands to Disney for 3+ years now. It's nice not having to carry around a paper ticket in your pocket. Also to add, we've never had any issue with magic bands

Nope...we only take our magic bands and have not had any issues yet. Mind you the optimal word there is "yet"!:-)

We only take the paper tickets (military discount tickets bought on base) to Guest Services to "activate" them the day before our first park day. DH and I both have pictures of the back of the ticket on our phones, but we never bring the paper tickets to parks after they are activated.

I agree with this. In all the trips, I can recall two minor issues with the MBs not reading properly, or having some issue (turned blue when we tried to tap). Happened at the tap points at the front gate. But one time, it was cleared up in literally about 45 seconds. The other took maybe 4 or 5 minutes for the CM manager to clear, and we were given a free FP+ for our troubles.

Yes. I'd rather have a back up just in case we need it. We also bring our wallets with a credit card. You never know when there will be a glitch with a magic band (or any type of device really). So better to be safe, than stressed out.

My middle kid lost a magicband the day before we were supposed to leave. We don't even know how it happened, since everyone had their bands when we got into the hotel room the night before. Somehow, that one came off, and *POOF* off it went to the wild blue yonder. We never found it again, even when cleaning the room to check out.

We went to DAK's guest services the next day (I don't know why we didn't go to the POR front desk, but, meh). They gave us a Key to the World to replace the lost Magicband, and all was good.

Point is, even if you lost your Magicband, as long as you have your photo ID, a CM with account access can get you something that'll work.

Disney has not issued any "paper" tickets for years.
They only issue plastic RFID-enabled credit card-type tickets.

Those are also the kind that they mint and issue to the authorized resellers.

We had the old MYW paper tickets that we were able to get Disney to attach to our MDE. We're staying onsite and will have magic bands, but I plan on bringing the old plastic ticket and getting the new RFID ticket to have as a back up too.

I have an annual pass and the only reason I bring it along is for the discounts. Most CMs want to see the card before giving the discount. If not for that, I'd probably not bring it along. I do bring my id/credit card holder just in case I have a medical emergency. I fell once in the MK and didn't have it with me. Luckily, I didn't have to go to the ER so not having the card didn't make a difference, but never again. I do learn from mistakes. :D

Yes. A couple cards in my wallet make no difference to my load.

I had a time when MB didn't work, last thing I wanted to do was stand in line at GR.

AND I have APs so I have to show them to get my discounts.

I carry the original cards from UT which are deactivated on MDE. Once, DD realized she had lost her MB as we exited the Indiana Jones show. We had an immediate FP at RNRC which they luckily honored, since I had my MB. We had to go to Guest Relations and wait a while for them to issue us a card. Were we going right back to the hotel, we would have done it there, but we were taking the boat to Epcot, so needed entry...Now, I always bring them as backup. I can always go on MDE and activate the one we need.

You should. We normally never do and last trip we went for a short trip during Christmas week and had 1 day left on our non expiring tickets. We got to MK a few min before rope drop and lo and behold - one of the bands wasn't working right! I was totally panicked that we couldn't go in the 1 day we finally make it for rope drop. It took a CM about 10 min to straighten out. We ended up getting a card to use for the day. Never found out what the issue was but by the time it was resolved, the whole rope drop crowd was in and no, we didn't get any extra fast passes that day.

That's funny that this question came up, because I never thought we did bring our hard tickets with us. I always thought it was just our MBs that we bring and that was it, that was until I saw my DH putting the hard tickets in our Disney folder that we always bring with us each trip. I asked him why he was putting them there, he said he always brings the hard tickets just in case, you never know if we will run into a situation where we will need them. I guess when you are the tech guy at work, you know that "things could happen" :goodvibes.

Unfortunately I say yes take your ticket. My husband didn't two weeks ago and the magicband did not work. He had a big hold up and missed fastpass time because of it. I'd rather be safe than sorry and miss an important fastpass that you have waited months to get!

Yes, I brought our plastic tickets. I put them in the inside tiny pocket of our backpack so they were with us always if any issues arose. None did but I was still glad to have them just in case.

Well technically I do bring both but it's because it's an AP and it's the discount card...

I have experienced issues and it's really no big deal to not have a backup with you. They have really streamlined helping everyone with a problem and while a delay, it's not much of one.

I also carried my Annual pass in my wallet, primarily for parking lot admission and discounts.

It did come in handy the two different days I left my magic band in the hotel room.

We're taking plastic tickets from past trips to give to the adults in our party. Four of us are staying at the Board Walk, 7 off site. As we'll be splitting up and rejoining at BW before going to F&W every afternoon they'll be able to get into the room for bathroom breaks and naps for the grandkids if needed without us having to be there.
