IF you believed there was a GOD and you TRULY wanted to obide by him, wouldn't you think about all the decisions you make before you did them (more so than you do now)?
In answer to that question though - no, I wouldn't think any more than I do now. In fact, I might think less, knowing that if I make a mistake, I'll be forgiven. I feel that I am the only one that I have to answer to at the end of my life, so if I want to die happy, I'd better live it respectably with little regret. If it is all going to end soon anyway then you don't have to care about the long term effects of how "we" are living and abusing our planet. Personally, I believe that we are all connected. That we are all part of the living planet Earth and I am fearful of people that believe it is going to end and make no effect to allow it to live on.
Very well said. I try to aim to please and to me, it woudn't be a matter of forgiveness. It would hurt me more knowing I did something bad/wrong regardless if I was forgiven or not.MzDiz said:Oh, I know you weren't trying to offend. In answer to that question though - no, I wouldn't think any more than I do now. Actually I disagree with this. Believing in God and abiding by Him is not supposed to be about hedging your bet. If you do believe in Him, and know Him, you Know that He is real.T. Lynn said:Again, I had someone ask me "how do you know if there really is a GOD". My response was that I don't really know and know one know for sure. I'd rather believe there is one and I do my darnest everyday to make him proud of me as well as myself. For myself, if I didn't believe, some days I may have a bad day and just don't care...
Again, I have no TRUE WAY of knowing there is one. I may be wrong thinking there is.

Most believers know that time could stop at any moment but could go on for a long, long time. It is also my opinion that most believers want to take of the planet & also feel accountable to God for our care of His creation.

I know. We're an odd, gullible bunch.

Aidensmom said:Just curious, people who don't believe in it, does that mean you believe the earth and its inhabitants will be here forever, or that you just don't believe the religious aspect of it?

I voted no, I don't believe in it. My reasons are a little religion and a little science. I am not overly religious, I have never read the Bible and don't plan on starting any time soon. I go to church occasionally when I'm in the mood. That said I say a prayer every day, I have since I was younger. My thoughts are that God is not vengeful so why would he just choose to come down and wipe us off the face of the earth?
I always feel that with global warming the himan species will evolve and develope into whatever we need to be to deal with the climate changes...so maybe thousands of years from now human life might not be the same as we know it today, but it will still be life on earth.

I remember once as a kid, I was driving in the car with my parents at night. I was looking at the sky marveling about how awesome God is. Suddenly I saw some kind of flicker in the sky and for a split second I imagined it might be Jesus returning! My heart leapt and I got sooo excited. I was so let down when I realized it was just a shooting star.![]()
Anyway, that pretty much sums up my emotions on the subject...come Lord Jesus!
