Well, yes and no.

Yes, I think the world will end if we keep going the way we are.

No, I do not think the Bible has anything to do with it.

Ok, maybe I need to explain it this way and I WAS NOT trying to be offensive...

IF you believed there was a GOD and you TRULY wanted to obide by him, wouldn't you think about all the decisions you make before you did them (more so than you do now)?

Again, I had someone ask me "how do you know if there really is a GOD". My response was that I don't really know and know one know for sure. I'd rather believe there is one and I do my darnest everyday to make him proud of me as well as myself. For myself, if I didn't believe, some days I may have a bad day and just don't care...

Again, I have no TRUE WAY of knowing there is one. I may be wrong thinking there is. It doesn't matter to me who thinks there is one and who doesn't. There are plenty of people who don't believe and they are wonderful people.

There are just some who don't believe and don't give a darn about anything. Those are the ones who I think could be a better person. Everyones lives are different and we each choose our own path for whatever reason. To me, no one person is better than another for their beliefs.

Have a great DIS day everyone... :cool1:

People that believe in the "end of times" frighten me. If it is all going to end soon anyway then you don't have to care about the long term effects of how "we" are living and abusing our planet. Personally, I believe that we are all connected. That we are all part of the living planet Earth and I am fearful of people that believe it is going to end and make no effect to allow it to live on.

I absolutely believe it...but I'm not worried about it at all or depressed in anyway. If anything, I get excited thinking it could happen in my lifetime.

I remember once as a kid, I was driving in the car with my parents at night. I was looking at the sky marveling about how awesome God is. Suddenly I saw some kind of flicker in the sky and for a split second I imagined it might be Jesus returning! My heart leapt and I got sooo excited. I was so let down when I realized it was just a shooting star. :rotfl:

Anyway, that pretty much sums up my emotions on the subject...come Lord Jesus!

Oh, I know you weren't trying to offend. :sunny: In answer to that question though - no, I wouldn't think any more than I do now. In fact, I might think less, knowing that if I make a mistake, I'll be forgiven. I feel that I am the only one that I have to answer to at the end of my life, so if I want to die happy, I'd better live it respectably with little regret. :thumbsup2

I totally disagree with you on this. Because we do not know when the end of the age of grace will be, we still try to do our best for this earth, our home. Most believers know that time could stop at any moment but could go on for a long, long time. It is also my opinion that most believers want to take of the planet & also feel accountable to God for our care of His creation.

Very well said. I try to aim to please and to me, it woudn't be a matter of forgiveness. It would hurt me more knowing I did something bad/wrong regardless if I was forgiven or not.

Actually I disagree with this. Believing in God and abiding by Him is not supposed to be about hedging your bet. If you do believe in Him, and know Him, you Know that He is real.

I totally agree with you! I believe we must take care of what God has provided to us.

This planet is 4 billion years old, this universe is 13.5 billion years old and here there are people believing in prophecies made barely 2000 years ago :lmao: :rotfl2:

Sorry but I don't know anyone who believes "in the end times" who thinks this way.

How about Al-Qaeda, Bin-Laden, corporations poisoning our earth, consumers wasting energy, disposable crud we buy filling our landfills, poisioning our yards so they look good, oil drilling in the seas, the way we produce our food, etc, etc, etc......

We all are that way, end of times people or not. It is part of our culture. Now you may not believe what you do is poisioning the earth but it is reality. I am guilty as well as my neighbor.

Just curious, people who don't believe in it, does that mean you believe the earth and its inhabitants will be here forever, or that you just don't believe the religious aspect of it?

I voted no, I don't believe in it. My reasons are a little religion and a little science. I am not overly religious, I have never read the Bible and don't plan on starting any time soon. I go to church occasionally when I'm in the mood. That said I say a prayer every day, I have since I was younger. My thoughts are that God is not vengeful so why would he just choose to come down and wipe us off the face of the earth?

I always feel that with global warming the himan species will evolve and develope into whatever we need to be to deal with the climate changes...so maybe thousands of years from now human life might not be the same as we know it today, but it will still be life on earth.

Joy, In those silly discussions that many of us engage in such as; 'how do you want to die', I always answer I don't want to die, I want to be raptured. I too think its exciting that it could happen in my life time and I think I am ready. I think of Biblical Prophesy as history that hasn't happened yet.

How will we deal with a decreasing, and possibly disappearing magnetic field. That is far more serious than global warming, etc. There are those that speculate that perhaps Mars is without its atmosphere because of the loss of its magnetic field. The solar winds would blow away everything and the magnetic field is predicted by some to be gone by the next millineum.

It's hard to put a subject this broad into words, I voted 'not sure' because neither yes or no seemed right. In reality the "end of times" could come for any of us today or tomorrow, so we better always know we're ready, and know we are prepared for whatever we believe will happen.

When I was young I used to be scared to death(!),and sure that the end of the world would come in my lifetime. I really accepted the "Left Behind" version of the end. But not any more.

Now I believe in God, that He is in control but also that at some point the earth as we know it will probably end. How that will happen I think will most likely have a lot to do with people... hatred, wars, global warming, chalk it up to man's in humanity to man... the bad side of free will.

However, when the end does come God will be there and what "the end" really means we will find out then. But I don't think we have anything to fear... if God loved the world enough to send His Son, or bring His laws or send a prophet, (or all of these) He also loves us enough to make clear to each of us how we need to respond to Him. I have great confidence that being ready is something God's Spirit prepares us for all our lives.

Fear is the opposite of love.
