I have heard of people being charged for things they shouldn't have been ... like charged for snack or TS instead of it being subtracted from the TS/snack credits ...
It sounds really convenient to charge back to room, but VERY inconvenient if you are mistakenly over charged... just wondering what to do for our upcoming trip.

I did do it thinking it would be more convenient to just use one card. For the most part it was, especially when we wanted to ship bags back to our resort, they would ask us right away since they saw we were staying at one. But, there is a limit on it that's easy to reach if you're staying 9 days, putting all food and souvenirs on it. :) If I had known that, I would have just put everything on my check card since that's what was attached to the room key anyway.

I am wondering the same thing..I love the convenience of putting a CC on the room key but I'd hate to think that by trying to save time I might inadvertently make a hassle for myself.

For those of you that used the DDP and attached a CC to your room key..do the receipts clearly state what is being charged where?

From a security standpoint, it is very easy to cancel your room key and have the resort issue a new one as opposed to losing your credit card in the parks and have to deal with the credit card company and all the charges that you may have made on that card.

There really isn't an issue with the limit the resort imposes. You have a "house account" up to that limit. Once the limit is reached, your credit card is charged, and the "house account' starts back again at $0. Far be it from Disney to ""LIMIT"" what you spend on vacation!

You can ask for a statement from the front desk at any time. I usually get one 24-48 hours before we check out. Only found a problem once, which was quickly taken care of. (Double restaurant charge).

I have always attached a credit card to the room key and have never had a billing problem. We have used the DDP twice.

We had our cc attached to it but since I wanted to use our Disney rewards and Disney Dollars first I would just stop by the desk at night and pay it off with those first and get a print out of all the charges. We never had any problems.

This was exactly why we didn't put a credit card on the room card, besides the fact that when we went we made sure that there wasn't anything we needed money for OOP except for souvies. But now you have to have money for tips, but I just won't chance them putting wrong charges on the silly thing. So I will be taking a credit card this time along with my disney reward dollars! I'm excited about being able to take a card that will have money on it because I spend everyday money and then got money back.
I think it pays to use your Disney Rewards Visa for everyday expenses, so long as it's what you normally budget and then pay it off every month before you have intrest to pay, your spending the money everyday anyway, you may as well make it work for you. Same with miles cards. Sorry OP.
I just don't trust the credit card being on the park card, because of what you've stated, kids having it and getting lost, and because it's a lot easier to spend money you didn't come with or have to pay it off. Those are my overly paranoid thoughts on it. LOL

Then I was presented with a bill from Disney at checkout! Thats right, I checked out with the same woman who checked me in. She remembered me putting the travellers cheques on my room. Her manager said "we have no record of that:eek:  ) I told him I fix that quickly by getting the numbers from receipts from cheques and promptly call American Express!

He said he would look again and see where the problem was. After about 2 hours of trying to checkout and losing time in parks, they found the problem! They placed my traveller cheques on another room!:scared1:

Thank God the people didn't try to charge! Then I would have been good and  This was last Christmas....

Be Careful !

We have done it, and never had any sort of billing issue. We even went thgouh the joy of a lost ticket (left in a Fastpass machine) and guest services promptly cut off the old ticket, removed charging priviledges, gave me a paper ticket for the rest of that day, and had a new platic card waiting for me at the resort. Not a single suspect dollar went on my card.

We always do and we have found the opposite. We we're charged twice once for an admission to Blizzard Beach. If we had just paid with a credit/debit card we would not have seen it until we got home and that would have been a hassle! Since it was charged to the room we just had to go to the front desk and have them fix it. I'd rather know down there they messed up and have it fixed immediately, rather than waiting until I got home and deal with it over the phone. We also like it because we can see an itemized bill each night if we want.

This is EXACTLY why we charge to the room. I love to have the print out from Disney...prior to leaving....saying EXACTLY what is going to be showing up on my Visa bill the next month and if something needs to be dealt with...I'll deal with it while I'm still at Disney.

I have done both in the past. On our family vacations we usually put a credit card down for charging purposes. It is so much easier than carrying a lot of cash or the card with you. Like others have said, I ALWAYS go to the lobby and get a printout of my bill BEFORE leaving to check out all the charges on it. It would be so much easier to get it straightened out while you are there, although we have never had that issue. When I go down for the girls only trip I always use cash only. It is a shorter trip and we are usually splitting expenses several ways and using cash then just seems easier.

If you lose your room key, it could be used by whoever 'finds it', up to the limit that Disney put on it, $500, $1000 or $1500. If you lose you credit card you are liable for no more than $50 and often nothing. This is why we don't link the cc to our room.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

For me it seems easier to track (even though I know it is not) if I use my own card/cash and I dont see any added convience by adding a card to the room key.

I use my own cash instead of attaching a credit card to the room key. I feel I have more control of my money that way and I have no unexpected (or forgetten) charges when my stay is done!!

We always attach a CC to our room and go down once and awhile and apply our traveller cheques to the balance.

We always charge to the room key. We were there for 10 days last April & never had a problem. When I thought we were close to the limit I went & got a printout & moved the balance to my card. I will do the same thing this May.:thumbsup2
