Do they charge for parking at resorts and if so how much? Can I move my car to the parking garage on my checkout day and not pay again?

yes there is a charge.

you won't have to move your car on your checkout day to the garage.
you are charged at the hotel whenever your car is still there after midnight.

you spend on night at the hotel, check out the next day.
you only pay for one night of hotel parking as long as you remove your car by midnight on your check out day.

check out and leave your car at the hotel.
go to the parks and return when they close to pick up your car.

you can leave your luggage with bell services once you check out of the hotel.
just retrieve your luggage when yu are done with the parks and then put your belongings in your car at that time.

why pay for garage parking on your checkout day when you would have to pay for that?

$20 for self.

$25 for valet

Both plus taxes per night.

The reason I was asking about moving the car on checkout day is because I was thinking of leaving to check into the next hotel, then returning for the parks

I would return and park back at the hotel, if you park in the garage then you would have to pay a parking fee there as well.

The only thing I hate at the universal hotels is that dam parking fee.. Grrr

I don't like paying the fee either, but I don't think it fair for people who don't have a car to pay for it in the room cost.

If you have a car just factor that into your cost. :thumbsup2

IMHO the room price is high enough...

the parking fees at the Darkside hotels are not bad.

i went to a meeting downtown chicago which was held at the Holiday Inn.

parking costs for me was $39 for a 3 hour stay.
this is when you are starting to talk about real money.

I agree, I travel for work in Denver and when staying downtown it is around $20 a night parking or more for the hotels we stay at. Also, BIL was looking to book Cocoa Key there and they wanted $22 resort fee every day. I like the fact that if I need 2 rooms, which we normally do, we are only charged for 1 car unlike being charged a resort fee per room.

The resorts are deluxe and still cheaper than disney deluxes most times of year.I would rather pay the parking fee IF I choose to bring a car vs being charged it in my room rate and told it is a "perk".Plus Universal is located in a congested area that has limited parking. It is NO different than going to NYC ,Washington DC <Philadelpia or any other major city and paying for parking at a hotel.I have paid almost $40 PER NIGHT for just bringing a car to DC .

That's subject to opinion. I feel for the whole experience it's quite reasonable.

The problem is everyone wants to book for the free unlimited express. Yes that's on benefit, but the hotel cost includes many other benefits and that as a whole is what you are paying for.

That's why I said IMHO LOL

I agree with you. When a hotel that you're staying at charges you for parking, especially considering the location, I see this as gouging.

This is not downtown NY, Chicago, Paris, London ... or even Toronto -- this is nowhere Florida.

Our choice not to rent a car for this trip --- was greatly helped by this factor.

My 2 cents.

I know that's why I stated it.

Why pay for something you don't use. I should be upset as we live local and always have a car. I
Have spent a mini fortune on parking the amount if times we go.

It's smack dab right in the middle of one if the nations top vacation spots. If we are talking about parking, for the amount of money they charge for tickets to the park for a family they should not charge for parking there too, right?

Granted if you don't have a car then don't worry about it.

Even Cabana Bay charges but it's cheaper than the other 3 deluxe.

wherever people vacation, there will be extra fees such as parking.
when i stayed at a hotel in chattanooga 4 years back, had a $14 nightly parking fee.

Orlando is ONE of the top tourist destinations....it is defnitely NOT nowhere

Gouging??

Don't see it as gouging at all. Loews are a business and those hotels are in one of the busiest tourist spots in the country! Not exactly nowhere.

Can you imagine if they didn't charge and it was free........you would have every cheapskate under the sun parking there to avoid the parking garage charge......we have seen people on here ask that question trying to save a buck!

You have a car you pay for parking.......if you don't then you don't pay.......I don't like to see parking charges hidden with the price of a room anywhere. And Loews hotels make it clear on the website you will be charged for parking, so no nasty surprises.

When comparing the cost of real estate comparatively to the destinations listed in my statement, objectively, there is no comparison. Charging someone in July who is staying at HRH etc. at minimum cost of $200.00 + a night just outside the great city of Orlando, an extra $20+ a night for parking is gouging.

We can sugar coat it all we like through our Universal or Loews coloured glasses ;) and of course no one is forcing anyone to have to park there, and I'm all for free enterprise - but this my friends is called gouging.

'One should expect to pay extra fees', or, 'Loews would be forced to include such fees in their nightly rates', are in my opinion, perfectly acceptable explanations delivered by a somewhat bias audience - for a moment I thought I had fallen into a Disney thread on the other side of this website. :rotfl2:
