While I'm making my walmart order , the thought of coffee mugs came up. Have they returned? I know in the past people have said they just ask for them, but with a split stay, I just as soon have them , than having to call twice.

Those yukky foam cups were what we had in November.

I'd guess that's still the case to save on upkeep since costcutting anywhere it's easy appears to be the new Disney.

We always bring our own 16 oz. ones.

Operational cost cutting at DVC resorts doesn't really benefit Disney since those things are paid for by member dues. They don't really have an incentive to be cheap here.

Just got back from a BLT Studio. They had the foam cups and disposable plates etc. No real cutlery etc. either.

I doubt we will ever get the real ones back… disposables are just so much easier for housekeeping to manage and I’m guessing cheaper. :sad2:

I keep real mugs in my Owners Locker.:teeth:

See above. "Cheaper" is a benefit to the owners, not Disney.

I'm a marathon sipper and generally prefer a snapseal contigo mug.

Never heard of it. Had to look it up. Looks good, but we tend to be more sit on the balcony drinking coffee not walking around coffee.

Might keep it in mind if we get to go in Dec. I can see taking mugs of hot cocoa into parks at night. I know you can buy in the parks, but I like to be able sip, not drink it now or drink it cold.

Same here, but I'm sitting in bed now with my wife sipping the same coffee for over an hour and it's still hot. I can't do that with a regular mug.

We don't drink coffee that slow. I mention the hot cocoa since it usually more of a warm up thing in Dec.
Our DD drinks coffee all day long. She has a flock of kids, a bunch of part time jobs and drives about a million miles a week taking kids to 57 sports/church/ school activities. Hmm her birthday is in a few months..... Is it REALLY leak proof?

Yes 100% leak proof, unless you screw up the o ring. That's rare and fixable, but i always test it by holding it upside down in the sink after filling to test it.

Guys, don't you understand? You need to *buy* a refillable mug!!! Duh. It's only $19.99.

Oh, I understand, but those simply aren't worth the cost when we don't drink soda and can take our electric kettle and teapot for hot or iced tea in-room, coping with the Mr. Coffee.

A whole lot better tea and coffee than the food courts have, besides.

Actually we are buying a mug this trip. We haven't for years, cause its so much easier to buy soda/ coffee for the room instead of trekking 1/2 mile to the drink dispenser. But DH has cut back on caffine due to health so the dispenser will give him a choice of different low/no caffine soda. Before we'd get a case of one soda for the room and be done.

He can grab a mug of soda on the way out to parks and on the way back to room. With the scooter it won't be an issue carrying it all day.

Having disposable paper goods in studios began long before the pandemic. It's reportedly due to not having dishwashers in studios and the resorts not having commercial dishwashers that could properly clean cups, dishes and utensils for studios.

Years ago, they took the mugs out but it was one of the few times disney listen to members and did bring them back. I'm not sure when they were taken out again. Last few trips before covid we were in bigger villas.

Yes, what bothers me is what must have been the talk in the meeting that made the decision to take them out this time-"This time, let's just do it and not tell the members-otherwise they'll get all whiney about it again."
What I did in January ( since thanks to these boards, I knew I was facing all styrofoam cups) was I brought a cheap cup from the Dollar Tree and at the end of the trip, I left it in the studio. Maybe they'll get the hint!
