I want to buy into DVC, but I am confused on the number of points I'll need. If next year I need 24 points per night for early december for a 2 bdr then for year 2006 will it go up to 36 points? I am asking because they have a points chart for 2003 and 2004. I only looked at 2004 . What I am asking is if my points will be useless 10 years into it? My understanding is the price per point will go up, but the amount of points needed per night per room per time period do not. I hope that I have not confused anyone!! Thanks for the help!!

Your above quote is correct. ::yes::

The points for a unit in Dec can go up, but the points for the same unit have to go down somewhere else in the year. In other words, to rent a specific unit for an entire year will always require X number of points. X will never change. To arrive at X you will add A + B + C + D =X, with ABCD being the point levels for the various seasons. DVC can rearrange the points as they see fit: B + C + A + D still equals X.

We bought just enough points for at BCV for a specific stay that we will always repeat. If DVC increases the points total for that specific week, then I'll need to either add on, do a little creative booking with excess OKW points, or simply change the week I go.

I think I have read that the situation that KNWVIKING describes has only happened once - at OKW several years after it had opened. Point charts have stayed level at the other DVCs.
