Do the new Pooh & PP queues negate the need for FP+?

Since the new queues are so adorable now (I haven't yet seen the PP one), do you think it's worth using a FP+ for these rides, since you will then be bypassing all that cuteness and chance for interactive play? Just wondering if now the better strategy wouldn't be to use FP+ on those rides with the boring lines (for kids under 10). (I'm helping a newbie plan their last-minute March Spring Break trip, and I don't have little ones, so I'm seeking you guys' help on this one!) I'm thinking their best strategy is to be at rope drop and hit 7DMT (FP+ not available), but then I don't know if they should stay right there and hit PP and Pooh and the rest of Fantasyland, and save their FP+ for Space Mountain and BTMRR and something else (not sure at this point...boys, so they don't have any interest in ETWB). (They only have one day at MK, on March 11, which easyWDW shows as a 7 crowd.)

All help will be appreciated!

We want to see the PP queue, so we'll be doing it at rope drop to avoid the long lines. We'll also do it with Winnie the Pooh. If we want to ride more than once, we'd do fp+ for additional rides. We're even going to do SDMT standby as I was the only one last trip who didn't get to see the queue. Standby can be good! :)

It is indeed cute, but I don't need 30-45 minutes of it. I'd still do at RD or with FP+.

I've decided to head to Peter Pan at rope drop instead of getting FP+ for it. People have said that you miss the cute queue if you use FP+ and I really want to see it.

I would go as early as possible. Peter Pan already shows a 90 minute wait!

They give you something to do while waiting, but you are still waiting.

Pooh line is pretty fun and usually not terrible waits. But Peter Pan lines are always painfully long. No amount of line enhancement is worth it for such routinely long lines IMO.

Peter Pan is a really popular ride, always has been, and seems as if it always will be. I really want to see the new queue! I am a huge PP fan so its important to me. I will be dragging my group to the ride at RD in order to go see it! I am so excited! I like saving my FPs for the thrill rides, which always seem to be popular (esp during Spring Break yikes!) and have long waits as the day goes on.

I think I will have them do 7DMT, PP, Pooh, and whatever else they can get done in Fantasyland at rope drop, and use the FP for Space Mountain, BTMRR, and maybe Jungle or Pirates (since they seem to have looong lines, too) for early afternoon.
Thanks for your replies everyone!

Pooh s line is usually no more than 20
-30 min, so we do stand by. Peter pan is usually an hour plus, so we fastpass. No que is worth an hour wait.

We like PP, but not enough to do it more than once a trip.

I think you are probably right in your advice to them. However, I will say this about the PP queue - it is NOT worth 45+ minutes! Most of the wait is not even in the area with the interactive stuff. There's still plenty of time 'outside' (covered section) a couple darkish hallways that my kids were bored with after they saw the Darling's shadows in the windows, etc etc. We went just after RD (probably got in line around 9:20ish) and waited about 20 minutes, so it was perfect.

However, are you sure their kids will do Space Mountain? Mine (4.5 and 7) did BTMRR fine, but the 4.5 year old wasn't tall enough for Space and the 7 year old wasn't brave enough yet to handle something completely in the dark. Also, PoTC has been breaking down a lot, so I'd hate to 'waste' a FP on it and then get a 'consolation' FP that they don't really want/need. They might want to FP Buzz? Or Haunted Mansion?

We were there on Sun Feb 1 with pretty low crowds, and for some reason we never saw Pooh less than 40 mins! We didn't go on b/c none of us care enough about Pooh to wait that long!

KathyNY76, thank you for your observations! I was wrong on their ages...they are 10 and 6 and Space was one they specifically asked for, so I knew that would be a good FP choice, and BTMRR was the same way. Great reminder about PoTC. Taking a queue from PlanoGirl, I am monitoring wait times online so I can get a better feel for what their order of rides should be. I'm reading where 7DMT can build up to 30-40 mins if you don't get in line by 9:15, and not knowing how they will fare with the whole "rope drop" madness, I'm not certain they will make it through the masses to get there before then, which will really set them back!
Thank you for taking the time to chime in!

I honestly don't mind the WTP and PP cues even before upgrades (and I'm in my 30's without kids) for the pure fact that they keep moving. I hate the stop and go of a JC or POTC, but don't mind the continuously loading ride lines.

The photos of the new PPF queue brings tears to my eyes. I'd gladly stand around in there for an hour ;)

Same here newsies- we'll be the ones waving people past us while we continue to play. PP has always been my favorite, it's the traditional first ride at the MK we always do. We haven't done standby at PP in years, but we're sure doing it this year and we're taking our time!

Interesting you say this. I'd not been on PP before the upgrade (recent trip was the first since college) and it was VERY stop and go BECAUSE of the interactive queue. People would stop in various parts of the bedroom and wait for this or that to change, look for Tink, etc etc. Perhaps overall wait time hasn't changed, but we definitely got stuck in one place for a while. And then it would stink b/c you'd get to the part you wanted to interact with right as it changed. And I, personally, felt bad standing there for 2 minutes holding everything up waiting for it to go back to the part I wanted.

But what about all the people behind you who want to play, too? I didn't know a thing about it going in, but once the kids saw it of course they wanted to interact. I don't like that people are forced to hold up the line or skip over the fun stuff. :worried:

Neither of these are attractions that we routinely get FPs for, and this is especially true with FP+. If going on an uncrowded day and I could grab 7, 8 or more FPs, I would consider getting one for PP. Never for Pooh. So next time we go, we will make a point of going to PP early in the day without any concern if the wait is 15-25 minutes. After experiencing the new interactive queue once, we will decide if it is worth waiting in on future visits. I'm guessing it will always be worth a 15-20 minute wait. Beyond that, maybe it will be time to look for FP #8 for the day.

You're not really forced to hold up the line. If you want to see and play with the interactive things, let people who don't want to go by you. If you do, you just have to wait your turn. A lot of people in the standby aren't there because they want to see the new queue. I go in understanding it's new, people will want to experience it and to expect some delays. If one is in a hurry, they should try and get a fp+ for the ride. I haven't read much about it being a problem with PPF really.

Hmm, I don't know. We weren't 'in a hurry'. We made a smart plan that used FP+ for other things and did PP first thing b/c the wait time is less then. And if the standby says 20 mins, then I'm thinking that 20 mins includes my turn in the interactive stuff. Not that I have to add time to the wait while the people ahead of us do the bells three times in a row. It's one thing to take your turn and do the stuff once, but if you are doing it over and over that holds up the line unnecessarily. I realize that's not what you said you'd do, but I think there are plenty of people who are only concerned with their happiness and will gladly hold up the line while each of their 4 kids and each adult gets to do the whole sequence by themselves. And they'll throw up their hands and say, "well, you can pass us if you don't want to do it!"
