Do the MagicBand+ for sale online work at DLR

I understand they have 5 specific Disneyland designs for Magic Plus bands. If anyone has photos of what those are I would greatly appreciate i! (does not look like they are available online -we are DVC so was hoping we could get them online but do not see them either). We have a Dec visit as well and wanted to see if we should wait to get there to buy them if we really like the DL versions.

Not to tell people how to spend their money, because money means different things to different people, but unless you have an AP or take frequent trips I would think twice before buying a magic band for a specific trip.

A minimum entry point of 35 bucks is a little steep for something that will basically only be used to enter parks and scan into genie+.

We bought bands in Friday because we go like twice a month and phones are annoying, but I wished that we could have used regular magic bands because all of the features that +bands have really don’t justify it’s existence.

From this post - the 5 DLR-specific MB+ are in the bottom row, first 5 starting from the left.
  • Disneyland castle (light blue)
  • DCA Walt & Mickey Storytellers statue (dark blue)
  • First visit Disneyland (gray)
  • Disneyland "To all who come to this happy place, welcome. Walt Disney" (black)
  • "Happiest Place on Earth" (Magic Key passholder only, light blue)

Adding - there's a clearer picture of these 5 MB+ at Laughing Place.

I have to ask a silly question - does the MagicBand+ show the "time" like a $5 watch would? Maybe it's obvious that I'm skeptical about adding more stuff to wear at the park unless it can take the place of checking my watch/cell every 5 minutes to see if I'm closer to another Genie deadline lol. But seriously, does it?

Nope. It's the one thing I wish they'd have done. I wear it with my garmin (has the time but is just a tracker) and leave my watch at home.

Good to know. I've been on the verge of hitting the "buy" button on a cute Band+ a couple of times, but after just leaving DL/DCA after a two day trip, I'm reminded I already spend too much magic atmosphere time on the phone - without a simple time function, this will not save enough phone time to justify wearing it (and with the "bounties function" it seems to Add screen time instead of reducing it). Sad, 'cause I am always looking for ways to improve the park experience. My idea of + would have been a clock and steps option.

Totally agree. They need a LOT more functionality to justify purchasing them, and we do have APs.

The fact that the bands cannot be used to:

-get MK discounts added
-pay for purchases
-unlock hotel room doors

...makes them completely useless.

In addition, I just hate that you have to recharge them AND they dont simply use USB-C. Just annoying. I don't need another thing that has a proprietary charging cable.

It seems like they didn't give DL people enough of what they want with these. It will be interesting to see how well they sell.

What exactly do they do, and what can't they do that the ones at WDW are used for? We're not going until May but I was already thinking I'd need to buy some ahead of time. If I don't need them I'll save $140 :)

I'm wondering the same thing. Our visit is Christmas week, and these would be a fun way to surprise the kids.

Pretty sure Disney will use the FOMO approach with selling these - act now or you'll never get the coveted blue Tinkerbell one etc. But the functions are silly for the money and hassle (I agree, a proprietary cable is nuts). And we pay for all the upgrades at the Park, so we're not opposed to spending money to receive something of Value. We ordered one with an online resort booking, and when it never arrived (weeks later), after calls and emails to both the resort and shopdisney lines - NOBODY had a clue where the band was, or could even pull up a record, they just kept referring us around (often to the line that had just referred us to them). I finally said, keep the money, and the lost band, we're probably better off without it ;)

I want one so bad but won't be buying unless they add the functionality of hotel keys and payments.

I have major FOMO though and lose all sense of money when I step foot into the park. I feel like a kid who has their mom's credit card with no limit so you never know if I end up with one. Fingers crossed I hold myself together and don't give in.
