Do room prices every go down after booking?

Crazy question but I'm DVC so I've never actually paid for a Disney resort :P. I made a cash reservation for a CSR Tower room (room only, we have AP) in March thru Disney. My travel agent friend said she was getting the same price at the time. Does the price ever go down? Should I keep checking back, and if it goes down, can I call to rebook?

Yes, before March 2020, I'd had packages where the rate went down and I rebooked, either myself or through my travel agent. These days, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Rates don’t go down, but a promotion may come out that can be applied to your reservation. Or you can cancel and book a new reservation under whatever promotion comes out. But the number of rooms allotted to various promotions always varies/is limited, so no guarantees.

That’s one reason why various “discount watch” threads sprout up around these boards. When Disney comes out with XYZ promotion over XYZ dates, many folks will immediately try to modify their reservations if a discount can be applied.

Thank you. I’m also feeling it will be unlikely but I’ll check out the discount threads and keep an eye out just in case.

You never know, but I’d be willing to bet there will eventually be at least one promotion that will cover CSR GDT for March… either a general public discount or AP discount. There’s not really a set schedule of when Disney releases promotions, which can be the frustrating part. Just as an example, Disney rolled out an AP room only promotion today covering 10/23 -12/25 and CSR is in the 25% off category.

You mentioned you have a TA - a good TA will keep an eye on this stuff for you and rebook when/if eligible discounts come out.

Hope something works out for you!

Disney MAY offer discounts that apply to a room you have already booked. There is no way to know that months in advance and no guarantee a discount will be offered for the specific type of room you reserved. As far as I know, Disney will not automatically credit you if an applicable discount gets released. You have to modify your reservation to take advantage of that. This topic tends to come up in new threads every so often.

Yes, we had a package reservation for August 2022 and when the Disney + discount was released at the very beginning of April we immediately applied it and saved a bundle of money (11 night reservation at Kidani). I'm pretty sure it was a room discount so could have been applied without a package. You just have to be vigilant about checking (and potentially open to changing room types).

When discounts drop, discounted inventory is limited to a percentage of the rooms currently vacant by type and resort. So you want to move fast to rebook the same reservation with the discount. The turnover is pretty fast. Most good TAs now do this automatically for their clients (since they can rebook all their clients in one call)
