Do rates typcially change between Pearl, Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc.?

Do rates typically change (i.e. increase) or remain the same between "opening day pricing" for Pearl and what the rest of the lower Castaway Club status' get?

I saw a screenshot in a facebook group today that one cruise already had increased rates just over the course of today. (I'm sorry I don't remember which one/room category/etc.)

Unusual cruises (such as Panama Canal, Transatlantic, and Southern Caribbean) are more likely to fill quickly, and thus increase in price, than itineraries that are offered frequently.

I’ve worried in the past but it hasn’t been an issue for our last 3 open day bookings. We are gold so not the bottom of the tiers but not the top either. If there were changes they weren’t large enough I noticed. I realize that’s a limited data set and anything is possible but as someone who worried about it I haven’t needed to and two of them were unique itineraries, the other Alaska which tends to be popular. So I wouldn’t stress too much.

I have seen prices a few months later be quite a bit higher so open day can be a good deal but I’ve also seen it not really matter for some cruises.

So far the prices have not changed after Pearl and Platinum...at least not for the interaries I am eying.

IMHO, DCL should honor the published release-day price for all "release date" bookings until one day after the general public. This seems most fair. Or shall I summon the "fair"y godmother to resolve? LOL.

The release-day prices — that is, the ones listed for each cruise on release day — are for the least expensive rooms in each type (Inside, Oceanview, Veranda, Concierge). If those least expensive rooms sell out, then the prices will appear to go up, even if the prices within a specific category don’t change.

Agree that the TransAtlantic cruises (which are repositioning cruises) don’t fill up. And per night cost will be less than the shorter cruises, so more bang for your buck. You need to enjoy Sea Days though!

It's extremely rare. I would relax and not get caught up in all unnecessary rabid hype. This board is not reflective of how most people book vacations.
It's not that rare. The Panama Canal cruises went up more than $2,000 for a verandah between pearl day and gold day. I've seen a number of others go up, too.

Depends on perspective. Yes, it happens almost every release that one or two cruises book up quickly. However, considering the number of cruises released by DCL, the vast majority aren't increasing in price daily.

OP - if you are looking for a standard Bahamian or Caribbean itinerary it is unlikely to increase in price during the first week. It could take several weeks before the price changes. If you are looking at a special or limited itinerary, those are much more apt to book quickly with potential fare increases during opening week.

In past years I've seen Alaska cruises go up in price over the course of early booking, but that was before there were two ships in Alaska--might not be so competitive now.

I rarely book a cruise far out, but I thought the 9 day Greek Isles cruise was a fair price. It seems a lot of other people did too because it's gone up in price. The longer more expensive med cruise doesn't seem to be selling. It really depends, but I think if a cruise is priced right to start prices will go up quicker.

Is this the one in June next year? If so I noticed prices had increased recently. I booked about a month ago. However that itinerary has now been out for six months, so it’s not like it increased right away.

Yeah I booked in July. I really don't know what opening day prices were. The last couple of years they have offered GT rates on all those Greek Isles and med cruises, but they lowered the prices a bit next year so maybe it helped. It does't look like they lowered them enough to sell the 12 night. We will see what happens maybe I'll still get lucky and they will offer VGT rates. I booked an ocean view.

I had a look when I booked and they hadn’t moved from opening day prices that I could see. For me even though the cruise seems pricey the flights are pretty reasonable as I live in the UK.

I am also OV, I noticed when I booked there wasn’t a ton of choice left for that category.
