Mine's Elizabeth and I get everything but Lizzie. Usually people want to call me Beth, but the other day I got called Eliza. The sub was calling name and she was like "Eliza?... Eliza.....? ELIZA?" I'm just not used to reponding to that :rotfl: I also had a teacher in forth grade who decided about halfway through the year that Lizzie was a baby-ish name and started calling me Elizabeth and when I asked her to call me Lizzie she told me that she thought I was too old for that.
at least people don't pronounce it wrong :p
what do you get called?

I have a very simple, common last name (same as a color). I love it when I'm telling someone my name (like when I am inquiring about a bill, picking up pictures, etc) & they say, "Can you spell that please?" Uh.....yeah........and then I do, and then they feel stupid and say something like, "OH! Duh, like the color!"

Mine gets screwed up every day! I'm a telephone customer service agent so I have to tell people my name all day long every day! I get called Angelina, Margarita, Magdalena, Michelle, Mishelina, my favorite is Macarena!
Lots of times people say "That's a pretty name" but sometimes people are just kind of rude and laugh at me or say things like "What did you do to deserve that name!" :confused3

My first name is CarolYN (notice the YN at the end!) People call me Carol--not my name! They also call me Caroline--uh, that's a YN not an INE at the end. I know they don't do it to aggravate me, but it aggravates me!! I politely say that I "prefer" Carolyn. I usually get a little sheepish grin, a quick apology, and every one goes on with life! It truly is NOT the end of my world to have it pronounced incorrectly, but I prefer Carolyn!!

Many people add an "s" to our last name. Not at the end but in the middle. There are families in this area who do have that "s" in there so the names are very similar. It happens so frequently, I've stopped correcting the mistake. It rarely did any good anyway because that "s" got added again the very next time. It's not something that really bothers me because it's an easy mistake for someone to make. Besides, life's too short to go fretting about that little old "s"!

Oh yes. Just check out my thread "No my name is not death" and you'll see what I mean!!

My name is Beth but people have thought I've said death. Bath is another thing people have thought my name was. So ridiculous!! :confused3

My first and last name start with S, first with 'sh' last with "sl', followed by "sh" its a toung twister.

There are people who call me Mary, when I sign everything Mary Jo, and tell them Mary Jo ... or they'll spell my name Mary Joe -- yup, drives me crazy.

I get "Kim" a lot. That's not my name! I get Kimmy. I get Kimma (yeah, I have a silent Y in my name!).
I also have an unusual last name also. It starts with a B and one time my mom got junk mail address to Mrs. Bedpan. That's not even close!

And one time in middle school I was in a spelling bee and the host pronounced my last name HooFoo. Even further away than Bedpan!

people over do my last name and we get asked if it's french sometimes.. other times they say it different and they think its some sort of Middle East type name.

Yep, Bedpan!! The only was it remotely resembles my last name is that it starts with Be and there are 6 letters.
My dad's family is actually Persian, though the last name is French (guess someone somewhere was French).

I get called Melissa all the time. I don't even try to correct people when they call me that anymore.

my 1st, last, nickname, no one can get it right. A phone soliciter(sp) once asked for Olide Peetin. Sheesh! I did not think people with common names also had this problem.

my name is Katia (don't get me started on how the heck my mom came up with that name) you wouldn't believe how many people call me Katie like oh your names to hard ill call you Katie and i hate when people say it wrong when i just repeated it 4 million times oh and in disney its pretty funny seeing castmembers guess on how to say my name (Go dude at Stroller parking at MGM he is the only one to get it right go figure!) and like my friends call me Kat (lazy friends we call my friend Ariel Ari ) and when my friends yell it when were somewhere we get some weird looks eh it gets annoying especially my music teacher who has been teaching me for about 6 years still calls me Cathia (no clue how she got that). Last year my name was Katie the whole year the teacher wouldn't get that my name is Katia.....

My name isn't misprounounced, just spelled wrong.

Debbi

(BTW, my neice is in her mid 20's and her name is Lizzie).

My name is Ronna. I get Rona, Roda, and Ronda alot.

My own MIL called me Ronda for the longest time, then all of sudden she stopped and started calling me by my right name. :confused3

My name is Lori and it is often misprounced and misspelled. I have been called Lora, Laurie (Lah-ree) Laura, Lauren, and even Lorna. My last name is often misspelled and mistaken for a similar and perhaps more common name. I love when telemarketers ask for Mrs. "Cooper". I truthfully tell them she is not here or they have the wrong number.

Thank goodness my first and last names are easy to pronounce. My middle name is "Leigh" which for some reason people pronounce "Lay." ?? My maiden name throws everyone off. It's two syllables and pronounced exactly like it's spelled. For some reason they try to make it harder than it is. :)

My name is Joanne.

On the phone, most people hear Diane or Jillianne. :confused3

If written, they ask for Joan.

I've ONLY been there 12 yrs, & answer the phone all day. Why is it so hard to listen to me say my name?
