Do people screw up your name?

My first name, no, not normally. My maiden name, absolutley. It was long and hard to pronounce and spell. So, I kept my married name. No one has a problem with that.

All the time. My name is Lisabeth but pronounced LEESBET. I get Lizzie, Liz, Lisa Beth, Beth I give up. And they try to spell it Elizabeth all the time like I misspell my name. Please I know how to spell my own name!

Not since I have been married... I had a really hard madien name but I then went to Lisa Cooper- some people think it is a alias but it is never messed up.

I love different names because mine is so boring.

People spell my first name Moneek. Or Monic. Give me a break. My last name even I mess up but even after I saw how it is pronounced it's like people don't listen, they just say it how they want to. Oh well.

Try having a spelling of a common name that most people west of New York and east of the Sierra Nevada's can't pronounce. The first time I visited the UK I wanted to move there. It was the first time in my life that a store clerk actually wrote down my name right after I said it out loud!

I'm Kendra but am constantly called Kendall or Kimberly (that's not even close!). My last name is always messed up too since I got married, (like being called Johnson if your last name is Johns).

Well, try having my first name...Valli...yes pronounced like..."down in the.." you get it. Mostly people mistake it for Sally - how I don't know :confused3

Not so much anymore byt after I first got married, people called my last name Smith all the time. It was Jones! They could only remember it was one of those plain names!

That is so funny because my DD has a friend with the last name Green and I always call her Brown... it is so stuck in my head.

My name is Lori and it is often misprounced and misspelled. I have been called Lora, Laurie (Lah-ree) Laura, Lauren, and even Lorna.
I get called Laurie or Lori all the time. DH's family is from the South and they tend to want to call me Lara. I don't get Lauren or Lorna, it's usually just Laurie/Lori. Some people who've known me for years want to call me Laurie because they think it's a nice nickname. But I don't answer to it; to me it just doesn't sound like my name. And they're peeved when I tell them not to call me Laurie. Duh, it's not my name!

I hyphenated my last name when I married, and it's funny to watch people get thrown for a loop when I say it out loud. They figure it out when I start spelling it. Unfortunately, when we bought a table and chairs for our kitchen, I spelled my last name for the sales clerk but she just wrote down my husband's part of the name!

I live in South Louisiana where every name is french but mine. People try to make it french when it I just and english last name. My first name is misspelled a lot.

Lord, yes!!

I still have uncles that think I'm named Mitzi. I work with people who think my name is Christy. I get Missy a lot, but that's understandable.

I have had some problems at work when I answer the phone, though. I will identify myself, and for some reason people think I say my name is Nancy. :confused3

My problem is my daughter's name. She is Tricia. Made it that way so she would always be call Tricia and not Trish. You should hear some of the pronounciations. Unbelievable! :flower:

It's fairly difficult to mispronounce my first name (Eric) ... people try to spell it with a K instead of a C, but that's a minor mistake. My last name is a little more difficult, I often get "Adams" or "Abraham" ... none of the above

Kimberley.. I have gotten Kym? Kimberly.. All my certificates Kimberly. IT HAS AN E!!!!!!!

My friend.. Meghane...Poor her she has gotten MEG-A-Hany... lol

When I'm introduced to people they either call me Julia or Judy. Oh, here's a really good one. The other day a letter for my sister Jessica came in the mail. They spelled her name Jesic. :confused3

Heck YES!! When I introduce myself as Lindsay, they repeat to me names like Leslie, Lisa, and I even got a Nancy the other day. I mean come on. Lindsay is not really an exotic name, at least not around here.

And please don't call me Lins unless you are a friend of mine.

Yes! My name is Sasha, not sacha, sascha, shasa, schasa, or shasha...

furthermore it is not pronounced SHASHA...that drives me crazy!

Nor is it tasha, natasha, nasasha or Sandra!!!

Phew....got that vent out of my system now :sunny:

ETA: And it's definitely NOT Saskia!

I feel her pain! As I wrote above, my name is also Tricia and I always get called other things. I find old people always want to call me Pat!
