VERY GOOD POINT!

And by the way, MyZoeJane, this is my problem with people like you: Why is it always about HOW MUCH YOU SPEND??? So, if I'm staying at the Polynesian, is it THEN okay to pool-hop to Grand Floridian? Because I'm staying at a deluxe resort, so I'm allowed to pool-hop within the deluxe resorts because I paid for it????? But if I'm staying at the Pop Century, you can't because, you're not paying as much as other people???

Good LORD, what kind of an education do you have, anyway? I'm sorry, but I'm having a really hard time understanding where you are coming up with this jazz! WHAT PART OF THIS LOGICAL STATEMENT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO YOU:

When a person pays extra money to stay at the Grand Floridian... as opposed to... say.... ASMo (which is where I'll be staying, BTW)... THE POOL AT THE GRAND FLORIDIAN IS FOR THEIR USE ONLY. Why? Why do you ask? (again and again and again?)... BECAUSE THEY PAID FOR IT! I didn't pay for it when I paid $79 a night to stay at ASMo! How many different ways does a person have to paint it?

Okay, I am sorry. It's a tragic flaw in my personality. Go ahead, make some lame joke about it not being the only flaw. Of this I am well aware....but I can't help it! I'm trying to save the world... one misguided person at a time. LMAO! :lmao:

Why do people say your logic is warped? BECAUSE YOUR LOGIC IS WARPED! There's no other way about it. Perhaps they need to change ALL of the pool signs to have the exact resort NAME on them... for people like you who need to have it spelled out so plainly. OR, maybe Disney was just giving people like you too much credit in thinking that it was easily understood that "Pool use is for resort guests only" means THE RESORT WHERE THE SIGN IS HANGING!!!!

Oh, I am so done with this thread! I've made it a personal challenge. I am home sick today, my mom has my daughter for the day, and I should definately be sleeping instead of crusading on the DISboards! :rotfl:

Wow, honey, you need to relax with all the insults. What kind of education do I have??? I think you got a little carried away there. I mean, really, was any of that necessary? Or are we as adults (and for some reason I am assuming you're an adult) able to operate this thread in a mature fashion? Let's maybe keep this at an adult level, ok? And by the way, No, I didn't ask.
When did this Thread get to such an EMBARRASING level?
I'm really stunned at the way people just personally attack other people who they don't even know! Stunned! I don't know how you were raised, but I certainly was NOT raised that way. I was raised you treat people with respect and if you don't have something nice to say to someone you don't say it at all (that's the kind of education I have. :teacher: )
I suggest you read up before you write, because this post was nothing but baseless and ignorant. And if you DID read my posts before you wrote yours (which clearly you did not) you would've seen that I made it a point to mention SEVERAL times that I DO NOT POOL HOP! So, I guess you're wrong about what you wrote then, aren't you? Disney does not give "people like me" too much credit for thinking anything is easily understood. Besides, would it that hard to put the specific name of the resort on the sign anyway? What's the big deal?
And I do not need things "spelled out" for me, thank you very much my dear. I'm an intellegent woman and I really don't appreciate you making such harsh comments . In fact, since you obviously didn't understand my point, I'll say it again. I know the rules, I follow the rules, that's just how I was brought up. I am not someone who needs ANYTHING spelled out. What I am, is someone who isn't bothered by those who don't follow the pool rules. When I go to the pool I enjoy myslef (despite the fact that I now know people like you are there). Not that I would ever let that ruin my Disney Days.
My point was WDW IS a resort, is it not? So, signs like "the pool is for resort guests only" is simply put, an easy Loop-hole for those who do pool-hop, b/c they are, afterall, guests of a resort-they are guests of the WDW resort. And that's that. End of story. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time responding to this post, it was pointless. So, therefore, we do have one thing in common-I am SOO done with this thread. :sad2:

Quote from rayelias So, by your definition, unless you follow ALL the rules ALL the time, there's no use following ANY of the rules ANY of the time.

I hope your spouse doesn't think that way about your marraige vows.

I hope your kids don't feel that way about your rules.

Or, should we all just pick and choose which rules we feel are legitimate to us and follow them whenever it's convenient? It's about respect.

Why does it always come down to that arguement... if you don't follow every rule, there's no reason to follow any of them. end quote

Okay, I hope I kill this thread, I can be pretty good at doing that but I just had to comment on this since I was quoted (I love that!) I don't even know how to do a quote!!

Actually you demonstrated my point I was trying to make. I absolutely do not believe we should pick and choose what rules we should follow. But you said I think if we don't follow all the rules we shouldn't follow any of them. I do not think that AT ALL. What I was trying to say to the "perfect rule followers" that speeding even up to 5 over is a traffic violation and they have broken the rules. I figure that is one rule LOTS of people break and if they are going to follow ALL rules then that is a rule that is often broken. Yes, I am guilty as charged.

Because like you said if you don't follow ALL the rules ALL the time you are obviously choosing some NOT to follow. I am not perfect and I suppose there are a few things I don't follow to a "T"

Gee, I just reread that and it sounds as clear as mud, but I know what I'm trying to say. I'm not trying to be argumentitive, I'm just trying to point out that we all make mistakes even those that try to be perfect "rule followers"

Wow.. This thread really spiralled after the 'fake dirty diaper on the stroller' part early on....

Pool hopping threads sure do heat up something fierce.

The first time I stayed on-property at WDW, (at ASMu) I asked a CM at the front desk if we were allowed to use other pools than those at OUR hotel. He said no, not really.

I took that as a sign that I was glad our park passes included the waterparks. And off we went to BB.

Pool-hoppers now know they are breaking the rules, but they don't care.

No one here will actually report a pool-hopper if they find one.

"Dirty" diapers on a stroller is icky.

Splitting a hamburger is no big deal, just don't get two sets of toppin's!

Did I forget anything?

Steve

Going to be watching for pool-hoppers at the Poly in August splitting hamburgers and putting dirty diapers on their strollers while eating a quart of mayo... :cool1:

I'll be at the Poly in August like Santonucci and I'll be on the lookout for pool hoppers as well. In fact I decided to buy a bullhorn and alert the management while throughly embarrassing the pool hopper. I've been told that you have to be a miserable person if you worry about pool hopping and breaking other rules. I hope misery loves company, so watch out pool hoppers!

I'm going to let you slide on sharing the burger thing but once I see a POFQ mug being re used at Captin's Cooks, then watch all hell break loose. After this thread I decided to join the PHWP (pool hopping watch patrol) and I know have ordered my bullhorn and had badges made up. Anyone interested in joining let me know. I'll be taking orders on uniform sizes as well.

This is me below practicing for yelling at pool hoppers at the Poly, so don't say you haven't been warned! :stir:

Honestly, I don't think sneaking extra people into a room is that bad. My cousin has three children - Ages 16, 6, and 2. So with her & her husband and the kids it's 5 people, but their room only held 4. Now why on earth would someone get an extra room, spend all that extra money when the 4 person rule is only being broken by a 2 year old toddler?

And I have a confession to make - after we had breakfast at Kona one morning, we walked around the Poly just to check it out and we ended up sitting on the beach for like an hour. Not sure if that's considered "pool hopping" but oh well, it didn't hurt anybody.

Uh, how much exactly is a "set of toppings"? One teaspoon of suateed onions, and two squirts of ketchup? What if my DH and I split a burger after buying an extra bun and he only puts the mushrooms on and I only put the onions on? Does that qualify as one "set" of toppings? Should we bring along some measuring spoons and cups to make sure we have not exceeded our "set" of toppins? Please tell me because I'm losing sleep thinking that on one occasion at least we may have actually had a "set" and 1/16 of a topping because we both had ketchup.

:rotfl2: Oh dear, LOL! Honestly, I guess we're coming to the part of this thread where we are drawing conclusions. So, my conclusion remains: I guess some people have nothing better to do with their vacation. I hope this was utter sarcasm and that you will not really be spending your vacation this way. :rotfl:

Actually they allow 4 plus one under 3 in a crib in a room. So your example is ok. BTW the occupancy is set by the Fire Marshall.

I believe they are only cracking down on the beaches before the MK fireworks. During that time you must be a Poly resort guest.

I think everyone needs to Step away form their key Boards and go enjoy the Mothers day weekend............What happened to the magic, I dont even remember what the Op originally posted , its all about hamburgers and Pool hopping......Seriously do you all realize you are geting all worked up over Disney World,lol.....have a good nite I can no longer read this and need a break.... and I hope this thread goes away because it is taking away from all the Magic :wizard:

I've been reading this thread and find the "pool hopping" debate fascinating.
I've seen some good arguments on both sides, and people have managed to keep it somewhat civil.
On the surface it does seem like a victimless crime-Who's gonna know and who is it hurting?
Now that people have reported seeing signs like "Port Orleans pool is for Port Orleans Resort guests only" that makes it a little more black and white.

I have neighbors who are going to WDW for the first time next week and they have mentioned they want to pool hop. I wonder if I should say something or just stay out of it. They have no clue what a controversial topic it is.

I don't think I would do it. Trekking all the way to another resort seems like a lot of hassle when there is a resort pool already available to me.

Could someone explain the Pal Mickey swap? Why would you swap? Wouldn't they be the same thing? Do you mean one family at the end of their stay passes off their Pal Mickey to another family starting their stay? At $75 each, that seems like a good idea

Pool Hopping: would you stay at the Hilton and then go to the Westin, next door, because they have a better pool? Nope. Same at Disney. Just because they are all disney owned, doesn't mean you are allowed to do it!!! Fairfiend Inn beside a Mariott. Marriott has a better pool Fairfield Inn guest hops over to Marriott. Sorry, not allowed...and yet they are both owned by Mariott.

The price you pay also reflects the amount of services offered to you.

Pay for concierge level, u have added perks that non concierge doesn't have.

Now. Am I going to check each person to see if they are infact a resort guest swimming in the resort pool? nope.

Did this thread get off course? YEP! LOL!

Here is one: do people REALLY think they can walk into Cinderellas Royal table and get a spot, just like that???

I've seen some Disney behaviour that would make your hair stand on end. :sad2:

1. People think 5 in a room is bad? I've seen 7 in one room! Unbelievable.

2. Oh yeah, I've personally seen minors smoking and going completely wild in Pleasure Island.

3. Splitting double cheese-burgers? Re-using mugs? That's nothing. I've seen a couple eat somebody else's leftover spaghetti! The two of them happy to do so - one of them looked like a b**ch!

4. People are talking about Disney and swimming. I've seen a Dad with his son and when they're swimming he somehow loses track of his kid and doesn't even know where he's gone and the doozy the Dad is with, some feather-brained broad, seems to have a hard time even remembering the kids name when everyone else is pretty freaked about the kid being missing.

5. Back to the food..... I've seen one guy in particular who just ate himself into a stupor. Could barely fit through the exit to get out. Some people really overdo the 'all you can eat' thing.

Where exactly have I seen all of this abysmal behaviour? In Disney movies of course!! Our favourites after all!! :goodvibes :teeth:

1. Snow White

2. Pinnochio

3. Lady & The Tramp

4. Finding Nemo :lmao:

5. Winnie The Pooh eating all of Rabbit's honey and getting stuck in the tree. I love that scene! :teeth:

Anyway folks.... just thought I'd lighten the mood..... ;)

Yes, because I am me and it is all about me!!! ;)

Wow, it has taken me a few days, but I can't believe I read the whole thread...

This thread has been interesting. It has illuminated how people view classes in our society (a few people have claimed they don't see it, those seem to be deluxe-stayers).

Don't get me wrong. I understand why people don't want others in their pool. People want what they believe to be theirs. I feel they have a fair point of view. If I shelled out 500 a night for the Poly I would be FURIOUS if I could not get a chair by the pool. Accordingly, when we stay at AS Music, I hope our pool is not crowded out by non-resort pool hoppers.

I think the idea of class has been hit on the head like a hammer to a nail on this thread. Some people save forever for a trip, and try to give their family the best vacation possible. I wish I could have experience WDW as a child. I grew up with a single mother and non-supportive father. WDW wasn't possible.

Now at adulthood: Could we afford GF? Yes. I would not be able to live as comfortably all year long, so we fall to see the point of living it up one week and scrimping on other things. However, I think their are people on this thread viewing the resort class system as a sort of caste. This type of casting is apparent in our soceity (BMW, VW, Hyndai,), however, maybe due to the catorigizing of Disney, people view others by these classes.

Or maybe after reading almost 20 pages of this has made my brain WAY overanalyze this. Believe me, we won't pool hop. We have free dining, but the cheesburger is a good idea, no kids so no stroller with diaper or swapping,

I'm going to post now, sorry for my rambling. I do think this hits on a bigger issue in soceity (better public schools for upper/middle class) but that's another thread.

:grouphug: Hope everyone has great trips this summer! Safe travels

Deb that was great.. haahahha I was reading it thinking "WHAT!?? the man couldn't fit through the door? HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?" lol.

Oh and also, I have a question for everyone.. how do pool hoppers even get caught? It's not like they have a sign on their back that says "im pool hopping"

I often wondered why the fire marshall thinks a three year old is different than a four year old in terms of safety? Why is it okay to have a baby in a crib but not okay to have a third child in a bed with two siblings? :confused3 I have three children and would glady pay to rent a roll away or even an extra amount to accomodate my third child in the same room as the rest of my family. I'd even go so far as to provide an air bed. I don't understand the logic there. Can anyone shed light on this?
