On please switch to a different channel. Again another joke that got by you. When did I say I snooped or eavesdropped. I answered a question somebody asked and now you exaggerate it to show you superiority. Please put your horse back in the stable, bolt the door and throw away the key.

Perhaps, you might want to take your own advice, instead of trying to constantly one up me.

Who said sharing meals is wrong?

I don't think I've ever done it but that's b/c I like to eat a lot on vacation. I don't see any problems.

Can somebody explain the dirty diapers thing to me. It sounds disgusting and for the life of me can see of no purpose. I must be missing something.
I think I may be able to help with the diaper thing. We use cloth diapers for my daughter, and are planning on using cloth for the second baby as well. While I'd never tie them to the stroller, you wouldn't throw them away, but I keep a couple of grocery bags in the diaper bag to keep them in once their used. Now if people are actually tying used disposables or cloth diapers to the outside of their strollers, that is dis - gusting. :p Can you imagine the smell they'd have trailing them everywhere? Especially in the hot Fla./Cali. sun? Gag.

Wow...it is amazing how many people get in an uproar about silly little things like social statis, pool hopping, and meal sharing. I have already stated my opinions about pool hopping and sort of about meal sharing. Those that are spliting meals may not be doing it because they can not afford a second meal...some people are not big eaters, some are more of budgets...etc. As far as social statis and or what have you...Get over it! Everyone starts somewhere and wether this is a once and a life time trip and you are blowing years worth of savings, or you are an annual going of the values, or somewhere in between...it is your money, your busy, and as long as you are not bothering me or my family I don't care! Go and enjoy yourself...cause that is what I plan on doing! Just for the record...I have only stayed in the Value resort so far. The first year we went it was sort of a money issue, but honestly didn't know as much as I do now. We have been back to the values 2 other times. Not solely due to money, but I could not see paying all the extra $$ for someplace I was only planning on showering and sleeping for the most part. Now that my kids are growing up a little we decided we wanted a little extra room and opted for the Moderate. We could afford Deluxe if we wanted to put our money towards that and maybe one year we will but for now, we are happy this way. The amount you spend on your room/resort means nothing about social statis. I may have spent less on my resort and spent more on my other activites...took a longer vacation or just, brought more money home than expected. We BLOW money on vacation plain and simple...but when my kids are grown and we are looking back at all the things we have done when they were children they are not going to look at the room we stayed at...they are going to look at the "kitchen sink" we all shared that one year in at WDW...they are going to look at the pictures we ordered through potopass...they are going to look at all the fun we had being a family on vacation.
Ok, I know I got off subject of the OP but, just wanted to voice my opinion...AGAIN!

BTW: anyone with 49 or more posts, had to have 48 at one point. Once again everyone had to start somewhere!

ITA. And my point about the post count was because I did not know enough about the poster to understand if they were making a joke about value resort stayers (which does happen frequently) or if they were making fun of people who think that about valued stayers (which is what it turns out they were doing).

Actaully, I was more defending the people who don't read these boards and have no idea that staying at anything less than a delux makes them an automatic suspect for rule breaking. You know, the people who a trip to WDW is really a once a lifetime deal and who will never stay at the POLY and who might even stay at an off-site, God forbid. The people who don't know that they are being talked about.

Wow, that's one big battle. If MK alone had 16.2 million visitors in 2005, and say maybe this forum has 25,000 members. You have an awful lot of people to defend. I'd bet a very large percentage in that 16.2 million don't care how people look at them for staying in a value hotel. Why do you feel the need to "defend" them?

chobie said:
However, I have seen threads were people who stay at the concierge level and witness poor behavior there also blame it on people who cannot actually afford the conceirge level but are irresponisble and max out the credit cards to stay there. So, No matter what level people stay at any boorish behavior will atributed to one having less money then those who behave properly

Ok, so you witnessed stupidity. Congratulations, we all have. There are trashy people at all class levels, just look at Paris Hilton or Britney Spears as a perfect example. All you seem to have accomplished in this thread is draw the anger or both the value folks, and the deluxe folks.

Never once have I felt inferior because I stayed at an All Star. Never once has anyone called me (to my knowledge) inferior for staying at a value. But if they did, I wouldn't care because I'm secure enough in myself to not care what other people think of me.

Um no, I'm just pointing out that was why I did not feel foolish about posting what I did because I don't know that poster's history enough to understand where she was coming from.

But keep trying to put me in my place --eventually you might "win".

I'm a guy, thanks.
Nobody is trying to "win" because it's obviously impossible to even contemplate you could be wrong.

Steve

Hopefully self-righteous at the Poly in August. Pool-hoppers beware!

LOL! Nice to see you take the quip in stride -- more people in here should do the same.

In the meantime, don't forget to actually enjoy the pool as you're hunting for pool-squatters.

Unless, of course, that's what makes you happy in the first place :upsidedow .

Actually, if you back a few pages you'll see where I apologized to someone for having misread their post. And as far as drawing anger from a few posters, I guess I won't be invited to play in any reindeer games. As for why do I feel the need to defend people who don't know they are being talked about, I don't need to, I choose to just as others choose to make assumptions about people who buy an extra bun.

As for the rest of your comments...

So, I didn't think you were funny --get over it.

ITA! Some of the threads on this board seem to be nothing more than gossip, and this thread has kind of turned into that. Who cares what other people do on their vacation or how they choose to spend their money? As long as it doesn't affect me or my enjoyment of WDW, I sure don't.
I'm also like you in that I've only ever stayed at the Value resorts. My trips have been all about the parks thus far I just didn't see the point in spending a lot of money on a place I was just going to use for sleeping & showering. I also don't have any kids yet, it's just me & my DP, so we don't need a lot of space. We're talking about going for a Moderate or renting DVC points for our next trip (whenever that may be, lol) and therefore planning a little more time to hang out & enjoy our resort and a little less time running around the parks. It's all about the type of vacation you want and how you want to distribute your budget, which is different for everyone.

Wow....this thread certainly has grown!

I know this has all been said before....but I wanted to state my opinions:

As far as categorizing people by where they stay....totally wrong!!

People who stay on property stay where they want to...now if it happens to be at a Deluxe, or just at a Value...it really is no indication of what kind of person they are. I have been to the World three times in the past 6-8 months....once I stayed at CBR, once at GF, and another time at Poly. I will be going back in September and opted to stay at ASMo this time. I stayed there once, and liked it alot. The oversized characters just scream 'Disney!' to me...and I am sure that is why others picks the All Stars, as well. Whether its geared toward their kids, or for other reasons.

DBF and I are both college kids, and really like to vacation to WDW as often as we can. Because we like to put our money towards WDW, it makes more since to be able to go more often and stay at the ASMo, than to save for longer and get to stay at a Mod. for instance. Plus, when we go to Disney, we are constantly on the go, and do not spend too much time 'hanging out'.

I do not feel that because I choose to stay at ASMo that I am 'lower' in class than the family who comes to Disney every 5 years and stays at Poly. I like to go to WDW as often as possible. Sorry folks, I just can't get enough!!

As far as pool hopping, since it is against the rules, people should not do it. But just as you should not reuse your Mugs, there will always be people who do it anyways. The most you can do is be sure that you are not breaking the rules, beyond that, just sit back and have fun.

As far as meals, I know personally that I cannot eat an entire meal. I do not see anything wrong with sharing. If you have 5 people, and only get 3 meals...so what? You get what you pay for. Plus, what if not everyone in your party is hungry? When we visit WDW, we are usually on the Dining Plan, and since I have paid for the Plan, I go ahead and get the meal.

Everyone is going to do something that someone feels is not classy or 'Disney' like...such as cutting in line, or something like that but when someone does that to me I just let it go...because I am in the Happiest Place on Earth, and its not worth getting upset over.

Have a Magical Day!!! :wizard:

I disagree. You paid for the use of the pool at your resort not the resort someone else is staying at. You are paying directly to swim in the pool at your hotel. That's why as you move up from values to moderates to deluxes the pools and other amenities get nicer as your cost per night gets higher.

Feel free to shop and enjoy the restaurants as they are open to everyone. The pools are not and it is clearly stated on the signs at the pool.

Pool Hopping then why does Disney encourage it. You have certain resorts that allow it. I am a DVC member and 1 of the perks is pool hopping at any dvc resort except Stormalong Bay (Yatch club). This option was not what sold us but we were told about it.

We watched CM approach them at the pool and ask for their resort key. .
At POP? Now that is very unusual. I've seen people get "time out" after not listening the lifeguard, but even then, they didn't ask for their room key. So you think they watched them come out of their room, counted the people and followed them to the pool, instead of just talking to them outside their room? That's wierd, that they would wait until they got to the pool.

We had 10 people come out of the room next to us, but it appears they actuall had a few rooms, and the kids wanted to be together. I wonder what security would have done if they saw that.

As far as I know, they only encourage it for DVC members. It's a perk for you, because it's not allowed for us regular folks. :teeth:

I couldn't sleep last night (surprise surprise) and found myself reading the Disboards (surprise surprise) and more specifically this thread. Well, I'll have you know that at midnight I actually popped popcorn. :teeth: Sorry, I couldn't pass it around, but you should thank me because I'm probably going to get cavities. :( Who should I be blaming and who should I send the dentist bill to? :guilty:

Nevermind, I guess I'll suck it up and accept some personal responsibility for my bad judgment leading to the decline of my oral hygiene. :goodvibes

Hi ho, hi ho, back to work I go!

I'd try the extra bun deal in a heartbeat, expect I'd be much happier eating the double burger myself :D

Also, about pool hopping: Really, whats the big deal? Near as I can tell, I'm staying on Disney property and should feel free to tour the amenities at the other resorts without feeling guilty. It's not like you're paying directly to swim in the pool at your hotel, it's just a bonus and you may as well share it.

Every guest of every resort would flock to Storm Along Bay and that pool would be overcrowded and those that paid the premium to stay at that resort wouldn't be able to use the pool. Not really fair.
