Do people make double reservations?

What I would like to see is on site guests being able to book before off site guests. (And speaking as someone who dines as an off site guest far more than an on site.) I think WDW guests should have that extra perk.

Maybe 180 days for on site (WDW resorts) and 90 for off site.

Not that that will happen.

Of course I would like to see WDTC and DVC guests even get a better perk. Maybe those who book a package, or staying on points, do not pay a deposit (on ADRs that do not require them now). And those traveling w/o a WDTC package pay a deposit for ADRs. :confused3
Lots of various ways it could be done.

I would like to see, that no one is allowed to make 20-30 reservations for one family only.

When that becomes the norm, its the select few "over planners", who sits heavy on the theme park restaurants!

I don't think that's such a great idea, and I always stay on-site. We already have the 90+10 perk.

I don't agree. Last trip I had made 27 ADRs for just myself.

So what, though? Why shouldn't those of us who like TS dining and don't mind paying the price be able to book as many meals as we're going to eat? :confused3 And again, how could Disney reconcile that with the deluxe and higher dining plans, which include 3 meal credits per night?

I don't think making more than 20 ADRs for a family is a problem. What if they are staying for 14 days and on DxDDP? So they are punished for paying more to Disney? As long as people do show up and use the ADR, there is nothing wrong. I do like the idea of requiring a CC to hold the ADR. This way, people will cancel ADRs they don't intend to use.

... ohh, and whats up with the trading with ADRs!

Some people book way more restaurants, than they intend to ever use. 2 bookings within a very narrow time frame. They then "sell" those on the trade treads to get restaurants in high demand.

Can i prove it? No i cant, but its a given fact, that systems can and will be abused.

Just look at this link:

Im not posting my opinion to single people out. Im not posting this because im a mean person. I post it, because it has already become a problem with the new possibility to make dinner reservations online.

I absolutely agree about trading. It just invites abuse, and there have been some reports that Disney is cracking down on this. It isn't universal yet and as with most changes to Disney policy, at this point it is possible to keep calling until you get a CM that will do it, but some CMs are refusing to change the name on ADRs and stating that it is against Disney policy.

But they aren't changing names, they are just using someone else's name and info.

There is nothing selfish about someone booking and eating the meals they have paid for and are entitled to. And Denmark what exactly do you mean when you use the expression "people like you"?

Someone asked how the double-booking is posible because in their experience the system forces you to chose one or another ressie booked fewer than a certain # of hours apart...

Yes, this is the case if you link your dining ressie to your resort ressie so that the system "knows" who you are. But last week when the ADR system wasn't letting you link to your resort ressie (for me anyway - I'm at BLT) I could have double-booked as many as I wanted (I didn't, but the point is the system would have let me).

Though you say!

Me, me and me (as long you get all what you want, you dont care about others than yourself).

Next time you go, maybe its tough for you, because after the first year of the possibility to book online, loads and loads of people who got no TS meal the first year of online reservations, will swamp the system in 2010.

And if so, I'll accept that and manage to get by with the ADRs we can get. But of course my trip is my primary concern. I respect the difficulty of getting ADRs and I don't double book or book Chef Mickey's for 4 mornings knowing I only want to eat there once. I don't double up any restaurants, other than things like Kona for both breakfast and dinner if we're staying at the Poly. But I'm not paying more than $300 per night for the deluxe dining plan to eat at Pecos Bills and Sunshine Seasons either.

Yeah, that's the work-around now. Not that long ago, they were just calling to change the name on the reservation being traded. When Disney put the brakes on that, the solution (for some) became just using the other person's name at the podium. Short of requiring photo ID when checking in, I'm not sure there's much more Disney can do about trading.

You dont agree! You had 27 ADR just for yourself! When people like you makes that many reservations, then the amount of available tables drys out fast!.

Sorry, but what a ridiculous comment. "27 ADR's just for yourself" ??? So are you saying it's wrong for my family to CHOOSE to PAY for the DxDP and book 3 TS's meals a day which we fully intend on using? We don't like or want to eat CS meals everyday. What's wrong with that? I'm sorry. But if I'm paying for it, it's not selfish on our part to use them.

well said...

ENOUGH SAID ALREADY!! GEES! ITS IS OBVIOUS THAT DISNEY NEEDS TO REQUIRE A CREDIT CARD NUMBER FOR ALL ADR'S IF DISNEY SO DEEMS A PROBLEM WITH RESERVATIONS BEING MADE THAT ARE NOT USED OR CANCELLED AND UNDERBOOKING RESULTS!:rolleyes1

I see nothing wrong with this. :confused3
If you are paying for it and showing up, it is totally okay to book it all. :upsidedow I dont understand why this would be bad.

You know to me there is not a meal at Disney worth pretending to be someone else. I am sorry but that is just weird to me.

Agreed. I almost always do deluxe and I go to every meal. And a lot of the time I book with very little notice. I was there last weekend, booked on Monday for check in on Saturday, and got all but one ADR I wanted (chef mickey, no surprise). That was with less than a week's notice.

But we all need to eat, I fail to see how me eating is wrong. I should go hungry so someone else can eat? No thanks. Everyone eats eventually. if I can make ADRs, I do. If I can't, I wing it. And I've NEVER in my life NOT been able to get a sit down meal somewhere the same day I called, often within the hour.

I agree, but I think Disney could do away with 90% of that by adding a credit card hold to just 2 restaurants - Chef Mickey's and Le Cellier.

this thread has not only run its course, but has crossed the line in a number of cases. Here is a link to the DISboards guidelines. Please note #4

4. NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction
