Do people ALWAYS spell your name wrong?

I get it on my first and last names (and my maiden name was rough as well) My first name is Holly. My grandmother spelled it "Hollie" until she died. (I was 38 then) People at my church spell it "Holley" (?????like the carburetor??)

My last name is Sox. Not "Socks" Not "Fox" Not "Sacks" . I always spell it out phonetically and then add, "Like the Red Sox or the White Sox". Still doesn't help.

My maiden name was worst. It was Flake. No kidding. And no matter what I tried to do to convince people it was really FLAKE ("Yes, like Snowflake, cornflakes, dandruff flakes. Yep, Flake. Foxtrot Lima Alpha Kilo Echo. Flake") I got Slake, Flack, Flakes, Blake, Lake, you name it.

Oh well... I guess it could be worse.

Well, no not really. :lmao:

DS9 is Zac & at the beginning of school he will come home with Zach,Zack etc on forms and papers.. it doesn't really bother me, but when his teachers still spell his name wrong after 6 months, it does get a little irritating.
DH's aunt spells his name wrong and always has-he's Scott and she sends cards etc w/ Scot. We just laugh about it.

People always mispell my name. Who knew that Nicole was so hard to spell. Everyone always wants to spell it with an h. I have never known a Nicole spelled with an h in my LIFE but everyone misspells it that way. Everyone always misspells and mispronounces my children's names too. But theres are a little more understandable.

Nicole
Wife to Reuben
Mom to
Keitaaron 9
Xeyana 7
Chloe 6
Colin 4

I have an unusual name, and it's always spelled wrong. People don't care.

They even pronounce my name wrong, and don't bother making much of an effort to change when I try to correct them.

My mother-in-law even says it wrong, and has introduced me to people using a TOTALLY DIFFERENT name.
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

My own dad spells my name wrong-seriously even on my first birthday cake that my dad ordered it was spelt wrong and in the 33 years since it hasn't gotten it right! My name is spelt Stefani(Stephanie) and noone spells it or says it right. When people ask my name I don't say it I spell it and the still get it wrong-usually adding an e at the end.People always call and say Steffanny and having Gwen Stefani around hasn't help the pronunciation!I used to have a common jewish last name and joke that the italian sounding pronunciation didn't go with the last name but then I went and married a guy with a really italian last name so now forgettabout it everyone just thinks I'm a good italian girl!

My name is Jami not Jaime or Jamie. No one has ever spelled it right the first time! My mom thought it would be cool to drop a letter of all her dd's names. There is me Jami and Michell(michelle) and sara(sarah) I feel worst for Michell she gets called Mitchell or Micheal all the time. Whats even funnier her DH is Juddy (Judd-E) and everyone calls him Judy. Judy and Micheal:rotfl:

See..now my niece is Krystyna.. (aka Christina) so when I see your nieces name Krystyne I would think it was Christine.

Another common mistake with hers! It's KYrstyne not KRystyne. So it's pronounced Kirsten not Kristen. And of course everyone wants to make it even harder and call her Kiersten :sad2: My sister is an idiot for having done that to the poor kid.

Any time I call somewhere, like to make an appointment, and they ask my name, I just spell it, then I tell them how it's pronounced. Otherwise they totally blow it

Unfortunately, yes they do.

My name is spelled Brittany.

Not Brittney, Britney, Britnay, or Brittani.

For some reason when I say my name, someone has to be like "Ohhh like BRITNEY SPEARS!" :headache:

I have this problem. My name is Kellie. Some relatives still spell my name Kelly. When I married & took my DH's last name, that also became a problem. It is a french name, and is spelled exactly like it sounds, but I always have to spell 1st & last names for people. :headache:

But neither my husband nor I changed our last names when we got married. Then we hyphenated DS's name. So there are three last names in our household.
We did *almost* the same thing, except my last name is Celia's middle name. Some members of my family still sends thing as "Robin L*" instead of "Robin B*". I would take hyphenated over just my husband's name!

Oh, and some people want to spell my name "Robyn" instead, but it doesn't bother me a bit. My "real" name is "Roberta" and plenty of times I get stuff sent to "Robert". That doesn't bother me either!

Yep!

It's Kimya.

I get Kim, Kimmy, Kimma, Kima, Kenya, Kanye (yes! lol), Kelly, Karen, and Kimily.

Kimya

All the time; when I was in elementary I'd make a game out of seeing how many spellings of my name were on things like valentines etc.

It really doesn't bother me and I rarely correct people unless it's on a form that must be accurate.

People ALWAYS spell my whole name wrong. My first name is Kimberlie and people always spell it like this-Kimberly. My middle name is Dauhn and people spell it like this-Dawn. My last name gets messed up too.

and my favorite is when I tell them they have it spelled wrong they want to argue with me and tell me they know they have it right - lol

My first name is ALWAYS misspelled!!!

I am SHEILA. I am NOT SHIELA...SHELIA....or SHELA...or even SHEELIA. Even my MIL spells is Sheilda!!!!!

Yep, most people (not close) call me and spell my name as Pamela Sue.

My real first name is a weird Celtic name made even weirder by the fact that I do not spell it normally. You see my name is Brycen and most people spell it Bryson. I am a girl though and my parents wanted it to be more feminine. Not discounting the fact that my family has misspelt it Brycen regardless of sex for generations. There must be a Brycen once every 3-5 generations in my family.

Now I grew up having to spell it out for people. I even had to pronounce it for people. I also had to deal with teachers and kids calling me Brian. I hated it all. Now I am married and I refuse to change my perfectly normally last name to my husbands weird last name. He is taking it personally but it is just that my name matches and at least I do not have to spell out my last name.

People always spell my name wrong. It used to bother me when I was younger, now I don't really care. I do feel bad for the people at work who spell my name wrong. Its in my email and on my badge which is up on my chest where you can see it when looking at my face. I have someone who works under me, and she always spells my name wrong. She will even look at my badge and still spell it wrong. Or she will reply to an email and spell my name wrong.
