Do people ALWAYS spell your name wrong?

DD's name is Brittany and people always spell it Britney or Brittney. Even the doctors office spelled it wrong after we filled out the paperwork with how to spell it. :headache:

My name is Chris and people always send me stuff to Mr... I'M NOT A MISTER!!!!! That just drives me nuts!!!:rolleyes1

Yes, my name is Lesa with an E not an I. I always have to say my name and spell it and even after I spell it 9 times out of 10 they put Lisa anyway.:confused3

Lori, my mom is Lorrie! But that is short for Lorraine, which she HATES, and no one dare call her!

My name is Lorrie, short for nothing. I have gotten Lori, Laurie, LAura and Gloria or Glory. I am always asked if it is short for Delores and would usually get in trouble in school when I refused to answer to anything else.
My daughter is Beth Anne. She is always getting told that her name is really Elizabeth. She was named for my great-aunt Lizzette. I didn't want Liz or Lizzie as a nickname so I anglicized (SP?) it and shortened it. She just hates being called Bethany which a few of her friends insisted on doing. At least Beth is easy enough.

My last name is Kellogg. People spell it Kellog, Kelloge, Kellogh. I tell them that it is spelled just like the cereal. It doesn't help. This is a name people have seen a million times!

I agree with the OP that it doesn't bother me that much if it is the first time I've met someone, but I really don't understand the people who know me and spell my name incorrectly. It is just sloppiness.

Of course, my sister's plight is much worse. Her name is Georgia. People spell it wrong all the time. It's a state for crying out loud!

And...I must point out that many people on these boards have referred to me as Feralpig. It's PEG not PIG!

Mine is Nichole- yep it has an "h" in it. No one EVER puts that in it, and there is a person at my job in HR who goes by Nicole Johnson(that's my last name too)Nicole is not her first name, it's something entirely different- but since she uses that I get all of her emails. Now because she's in HR, I get lots of password info, all types of HR type stuff. My department also won a contest with a day off last year, it came on a certificate, it was sent to her and when I didn't get mine, I called her, and she was like "Oh, that was yours, I'll mail it to you." Of course that was 2 weeks after everyone had gotten theirs, she was definately going to use it. We always joke and say she's trying to steal my indentity.:lmao: :lmao:

Yes, people always spell my last name wrong. Actually, in all my days, I'm only 38 so that can't be that many, not one person has spelled my last name wrong. My last name starts with 'K', but people always want spell it with a 'C.' I've actually had it spelled with a 'V' once. Right, because 'V' sounds so much like 'K'.

i HATE that!! i spell my name "Kait", since it's "Kaitlyn" with the end chopped off, and while i understand everyone will default to "Kate", it's RIDICULOUS how many of my friends STILL SPELL IT WRONG.

and i mean my FRIENDS, people i've known for YEARS, who have seen my name written a bazillion times on Facebook and the like...it drives me mad!!

i love when people ask me how to spell my last name: Scott. i wasn't aware that was so difficult! (Ok, so i know it could be "Scot," but really since i auto-spell my first name, don'tcha think i'd specify that too?)

ETA: it also surprises me how many of my friends don't know my full name. Not that i use it, ever, but i have no idea why people think my name is "Kathleen" or "Kathryn". Um, hello, do you think i just pulled "Kait" out of thin air?!

then again, on of my bff's is really Catherine, but goes by Kayti...there is a backstory to it, but it is kinda weird.

Yes....Kerri...I get Keri, Kerrie, Kerry....then lets not forget Terri and Carrie.:lmao: I answer if it's close:laughing:
Kerri

My name is Mona-- what is so hard to spell about that??? But I still have people spell it wrong. For some reason they want to put an 'i' in there. ???

My last name is another story. :sad2: I always have to spell and respell and then respell it again. I usually end up saying "2 O's, 1 R, no E".

I'm Jaclyn and I get it spelled:Jacklyn, Jocelyn, Jacqueline, Jacyln, etc, etc. And I also get called Jackie, which I don't mind but never encouraged, lol.

I wouldn't have thought "Jennifer" was that tough to spell, but I've had people spell it with two fs, one n, and once someone dropped the i.

My son's name is Bryceton. I've seen and heard it all in his 28 years.

We had Grand Gathering shirts with all of our names on them at WDW a few weeks ago and one of the street performers at DHS kept saying "bris-a-tone". Everyone but Bryceton thought it was hysterical.

Oh my goodness. This thread is a year old already. Wow!

It's none of my business what other people name their kids, but I should really have kept my mouth shut on this one.

I have a co-worker who has 2 kids each with a "y" somewhere in their name. So, with baby #3 on the way, her name will be Madisyn.

I am no big fan of trendy names, especially ones spelled differently, but that's just me. I told him: you realize it's going to take her a few years before she realizes her real name isn't "Madison with a 'y'", right?

OK, not one of my more gracious moments.

I suppose I was just glad my name wasn't Jennifer growing up. There were at least 8 Jennifers in my class. Teachers would refer to them as:

Jen with one 'N.'
Jenn with '2 Ns.'
Jenni with an 'i'.
Jennie with an 'ie.'
Jenny with a 'y'.
Jennyfer with a 'y'.
Jennifer
and the last one had to go by her middle name: Becky. :rotfl:

And...I must point out that many people on these boards have referred to me as Feralpig. It's PEG not PIG!

So I guess you wouldn't like a new avatar?

My child's preschool is insisting that all of the children need to be able to write their full names. I don't really have a problem with that, per se. But could you at least make sure you SPELL THE NAME CORRECTLY?!?! We've been attending this school for 3 years. I think they should have the name correct by now.

Yes, people spell my last name wrong all the time. When pronounced, it's a simple, common everyday word. But it's spelled completely differently, including the first letter.

So when I'm asked for my last name by someone who is writing it down, I launch right into spelling it out. If I say it first and then spell it, they already have the wrong first letter written down.

I'm Jodi, but always get Jody and Jodie :headache:

Yes, lots of people spell my lst name wrong, and forget about our last name. Rarely anyone spells or pronounces it correctly.

Most people spell my name wrong. I doesn't bother me if strangers spell it wrong, but I have family members who spell it wrong! I was great when I was in school and the computer printout that the teachers got at the beginning of the year couldn't fit my full name. All that showed of my first name was Christ. So teachers didn't know if I was a Christopher, Christian, Christine, or any other name that started with Christ. Some of them guessed a name and were always wrong. Most just called my last name and asked me what my first name was. A few just called out Christ "lastname", and I would then say here and correct my name.
