What does mousekeeping do on trash and towel day if you have your DND sign on the door?

They might leave the towels at the door or they might not leave any towels at all. Why would you leave the DND sign on the door?

It just occured to me that we never recieved TNT service on our recent AKV stay and I was wondering if we left the DND sign on the door on accident that day.

Sometimes we just forget to take it off. Obviously it did not affect me much since I just thought of it. LOL

Because she doesn't want to be bothered by anyone, including housekeeping. I actually called housekeeping to tell them not to do the cleaning, I was sick and didn't want to be bothered. Also left the DND sign on the door. Sure enough they knocked anyway:confused3.

I went to the door and asked them to just bag up the TP, towels, etc and leave them by the door. They were like, "oh yeah, you were the one that called and requested that."

I do wish they would just put clean towels and extra TP and soaps, etc. in a bag and leave by the door and skip T and T service. We always empty our own trash anyway. But, I know others like the service. So, just my opinion.

We were at BLT June 26th through July 2nd. We had the DND up for most of our trip including the 4th day.

We took a nap on the 4th day and mousekeeping called me to ask me if I needed towels. Waking us up. I was very upset.

We haven't had much luck with them even doing the T&T service, much less abiding by our wishes not to be disturbed. Our last 2 trips they didn't do anything on T&T day and we had to call to request various things.

I just wish they would be consistent or at least ask you upon check-in if you want it or not. If you do then they should show up on day 4. If you don't then they shouldn't bother you at all. A system like that would make the housekeeper's job easier and we might end up with more thorough cleanings on the full service days. The right hand obviously doesn't know what the left hand is doing when it comes to Mousekeeping.

Usually they won't knock in our experience - for us, they've just left the linens in an extra hamper outside our door. Usually, this has been at SSR.

But at other places, they have been known to call us. About half the time they called when I had one or both kids napping during their afternoon nap when they were both under 6...UGH!! My kids were the type that if they napped for only 10 minutes and were woken up by a phone or anything, they were back up for good, but cranky the rest of the day until bedtime.

I have been a member since 1994 and have always had great service. If we have DND sign up..it is respected. We also have had message left for us if sign was up after 4pm to ask us to contact them if we needed anything. Other times we have had them leave towels at the door in a basket. We never really need mousekeeping as we do our own towels, etc. That is what we like best about DVC. We have never been "neglected" on T&T day, it had usually worked out to meet our needs.

I wish that were the case every time. I think we all expect it to work as you mentioned but in my experience, and apparently in others by the number of posts I've seen, it appears the level of service is deteriorating even in the short time since we joined in 2007. For whatever reason there appears to be a lack of coordination between housekeeping management and individual staff. Its the lack of consistency that bothers me and it appears to be getting worse in my opinion.

How hard would it be for them to ask you at check-in what your preference would be regarding T&T day? This would solve the random phone calls and/or knocks on the door to ask you the same thing. It would also potentially free up some of the housekeeper's time to devote to more thorough cleanings on the full service days. I too have little use for T&T day as we take out our own trash and I wash towels as needed.

How hard would it be for them to simply leave a checklist in the room after each full cleaning showing the housekeeper's name and what they supposedly did? If you get in the room and find they missed something then there is some accountability there to determine why it wasn't done and who should have done it. It doesn't appear as if any management is checking up on what they do so you get the situation where the good ones do what they are supposed to do and the bad ones try to cut corners.

My guess would be that it would more difficult. Right now they know exactly when you check in and they know your fourth day. They have limited time to get your service completed and can't do it on your schedule so easily.

What would be good would be for Disney guests who pay through DRC to get the same service as members at DVC resorts. That would limit the amount of time the housekeepers spend cleaning those rooms as well.

We always leave our Do Not Disturb sign out, and they leave it at the door. We exchange what we need, leave what is dirty and call housekeeping and tip the person that comes to get it.

I see no difference in a CM asking you on day 1 at check-in or a confused housekeeper asking on day 4, it would just allow everyone to be on the same page and eliminate the current guessing game. If you do want it they come on day 4, if you don't then nobody shows up at all until the full service cleaning day. Since they aren't showing up 100% of the time anyway it would eliminate the random phone calls or knocks on the door to ask you that same question.

I agree with you on the frequency of visits for cash stays.

We've been members since 93. 2 years ago, I was violently ill from some type of food poisoning/stomach flu. I haven't been sick like that in 20 yrs. We hung the DND sign on the door. DH took the kids to the parks, and I stayed in the room. Housekeeping was very respectful. I didn't want them to get sick too, so we tried to minimize any gern exposure.
