A question that was asked on a radio station.

They were talking about how it seems that Valentines Day is more for the ladies.

How do the men feel? Do they like or want flowers or candy? Or is it just a dumb day to make Hallmark and Godiva rich?

My husband does NOT want flowers- not on Valentines- NOT EVER! He would take chocolate, but really doesn't care. He remembers me, because it makes him happy to see me happy. Besides, I think he figures it will pay off for him later on... :love2:

Uh, well I think I know that what most men want on Valentines Day. :o

Just Valentine's Day? :o

My husband doesn't care about Valentine's day or much of any other holiday. He thinks that it's a waste of money.

A guy at the office received a beautiful bouquet of roses for his anniversary. I commented on it to my group. I thought it was really sweet. I was told by every man in the group that it was horrible. They would never want to receive flowers at the office. Wierd!

Not flowers. Candy... maybe. A chance for a quiet nap...now there's a treat!

Neither of us make a big deal of Valentines Day, unless I forget to get a card. Then it's a big deal that I'll regret. Candy is a no win situation. She either wanted it if I didn't get it or didn't want it if I do. Flowers are the safest way to go anytime.

I've already been told I'm getting a really nice home-cooked meal and a romantic quiet evening. Now, if I can just turn that into a quiet nap... I guess I'd better get her a lot of flowers.

I have a feeling that many men wouldn't mind getting flowers and probably even fewer would dislike getting candy.

It just doesn't "fit" our ideas of "masculinity" in this society and thus isn't as accepted.

I have only recieved flowers twice in my life :( and I enjoyed it both times! However, I'm not too sure that I would want flowers delivered to me in front of a lot of other people. I tend to be a shy, keep-to-myself person and don't think I would want all of the attention!

I wouldn't mind having chocolate, but then DW always bakes special goodies for me..
As for flowers...If I can't plant it in my yard later, then don't bother...:jester: ..

On one of the morning radio shows here, the DJ's (who are both men) each made a list of 10 things all men want for Valentines day. To sum it up: Men want toys. Radio controlled toys, electroni c gadgets, computer stuff... you name it. DH said the list was pretty darn accurate :D

I sent my h a singing telegram once, and only once. He wasn't angry or anything, but he preferred not to receive something like that on base. His CO thought it was funny though.
