Do Men Still Wear white tennis shoes?

I think that saying "tennis shoes" can be regional too. "Sneakers" sounds a little odd to me but usually I just say "athletic shoes".

Is there anyone else here who has no idea what men wear on their feet at WDW? I might notice something really out of place like a wild color but otherwise I wouldn't have a clue.

Yep. Me. I don't notice the clothing other people are wearing either. I'm too busy enjoying being at WDW to notice stuff like that. LOL

I thought that the phrase "tennis shoes" went out of style A LONG time ago :)

We've never called them anything but "tennies" or "tenners". I don't think I know anyone who called their tennies by their *given* names. :rotfl:

My dh (53) alternates between crocs & tevas.

At far as footwear at WDW goes, I'd wear whatever shoes are most comfortable for your feet. WDW requires a lot of walking.

My honey wears Adidas Sambas. ;)

My favorite shoe...I prefer the one with the tongue that folds out and back over the shoe a little...I wore these all thru HS and still wear them...

From my personal observations, those with all white are...

Old people and folks wanting to be urban hip.

now you can further break it down. Do the shoes have velcro? :lmao:

Well, my husband will only wear black sneakers. He won't wear white for some reason.

Then he pairs them with gray calf length socks.

I am sure not fashionable but Ewwww. It looks awful and he thinks he looks just fine. He's even worse than me when it comes to fashion. :rotfl:

Sounds like they are saying you should only wear the below the ankle socks with sneakers.

My hubby is not a sneaker wearing guy. He wears sandals (which I am sure are totally out of style) and he could give a flying fig what other people think... all he cares is that he is comfortable.

So funny, I grew up in your neck of the state and I thought practically the same thing. After reading PP's post, it occurred to me as well that tennis shoes was what we'd always called them, but that calling them "sneakers" would definitely have gotten the teen eye roll. Unless they were retro Converse of course ;)

As for the OP, DH is a die hard tennis shoe fan, though not in white. More like white/black/blue/silver...but nothing too out there. Has driven me crazy, but at least I finally got him to stop wearing the higher ankle socks and he's wearing the low socks you can't see. But what finally got him to try other shoes was one summer day when he was complaining how hot he was and I pointed out that those heavy shoes and socks didn't exactly breathe. Managed to get him to move onto some canvas van-type loafers, and he even bought a pair of shoes similar to the Skechers from DSW you linked to. BUT, he says nothing beats his tennies for longer walking, as the others make him sorer faster. And I completely get that. So not sure the other shoes you'd like him to wear are the best for park wearing.

I will also say that the skecher-type shoes you posted really only look good with pants. DH tried them on at the store wearing a pair of shorts and I think we both almost fell over laughing. Now that was a stereo-typical old guy moment. There are, however, low-profile tennis shoes that can work, you just have to try them out and see.

Hip and Disney shouldn't go together. People should wear the absolutely most comfortable shoes they can find for walking about 10 miles a day and standing about 8 hours a day in.

The socks bit is kind of funny to me, I guess you should only wear running socks when wearing sneakers is what I get from it.

Ya got me! LOL! I thought they were referring to you should only wear socks that you can't see when wearing sneakers! LOL!! Sheesh. I give up. My DH wears white sneakers with low socks.....:confused3

I know one thing I need COMFY shoes when at WDW! No way no how I'm going to be running around in the park with flats. I wear the comfy croc flip flops, they feel like your walking on a cloud and they're cute. I can't wear sneakers because as someone else pointed out it's way too hot, and I'm also afraid of getting blisters.

What about Jesus sandals with black socks! I bet you'd notice that one!:lmao:

Anyone who sports the white tennis shoes needs to have the matching jorts to make the outfit perfect!

My DH (mid 40's) has been wearing these Reebok's since they were created in the 80's - yes, he will not wear anything but white on white - and searches all stores for this particular style... Frankly, i am surprised they still make them. Are they considered "classic"?

Well, I suppose I prefer him in the white on white Reeboks than the Reeboks my DS (17) wears:
