Do I really need a stroller rain cover?

I was wondering if I should buy a stroller rain cover for our upcoming Sept. trip. I have a Citi Mini and the cover costs about $40. I never traveled to WDW before with a child this young (17mos) or never brought our own stroller.

What have all you expert Disers done?:confused3

We have gone every September for the past few years and have always used our rain cover. (hurricane season and all) We have gone into attractions and come out to find that it had rained in the few minutes we were gone.

On our most infamous incident, we had driven from Atlanta straight to MK. We loaded the boys in the stroller and were 1/2 way between the car and the gate when the bottom dropped!!! I'm talking hail!! We had no place to go but straight toward the gate. Luckily we had the cover and we were able to protect the boys from the hail. DH and I did not fare as well. We were completely soaked to the knees. My phone was soaked...and ruined (as was my hair :lmao:) On a good note...the park cleared out with the rain, and we enjoyed a crowd-free night. ;)

The question is what cover to get. Some people just use a poncho or something similar. While not cut to fit the stroller, they spread out pretty large and are actually easier to store than the bulky cover. You could get an .88 one from Walmart and not even open the package if you don't need it.

I just bought a universal jogging stroller cover from onestepahead.com for $12.99. I have a city mini also. You will definitely need the rain cover!!

Yes, you really should get the rain cover. we bought it for our LOs first trip and that is the only place we have used it. We are leaving for her thrid trip soon and that is one of the only things I have packed already! It is nice not to have to worry about LOs getting soaked or even the stroller. Maybe buy it, dont open unless you have to, that way if you need it, you will be glad you got it, if you dont need it, you can return it. GL

After attending the MNSSHP and getting rained out in '07, we wouldn't dare go without one. The main reason is that we ended up buying a towel that cost us around $20 to try to dry stuff off to salvage the evening. We were rained on several times that trip.

I would hightly recommend it.

Just envision how fussy your child would be sitting in a sopping wet stroller!

We've never brought a stroller to WDW (just DL, where rain is less of a concern), but we had a scooter last time we visited and we were very glad to have a poncho for that thing. Wet seats are miserable :(

I would have something of the sort. We did catch rain in June. We rented a citymini in June and I 4got to buy a rain cover. We did have ponchos. I used one of my adult ponchos over the citymini. Also, I read someone did only use a poncho instead of buying a cover and brought tablcloth clips to hold securely. That might be an option if u dont want to spend th xtra money right now! We r thinking of buying our own Citymini or rent again for our Sept. trip and we definitely bring some form of a cover!

We bought the generic stroller cover at BRU before our trip last Fall. We took it out to make sure it fit our stroller then realized that we could not fold it back up without it taking up 1/2 of our suitcase. We then opted to leave it home and use a poncho if need be. Thankfully we had 5 straight days without a drop of rain! We'll just bring a poncho again this coming trip and cut a few holes in it for ventilation.

Yes...I would make the investment...it rained pretty much every day while we were there. I always put the cover on when we left the stroller parked, it kept the seats and diaper bag dry.

I have a double, with rain gear.
We will be there in Sep this year also...with our rain gear :)

YES! It took us two trips to learn this....and we were so so happy to have it on our last trip! Dry happy kids and stroller is worth every penny!:)

I guess I should get a cover, since EVERYONE said yes!:rotfl: Thanks.:thumbsup2

Which size did you buy, single or jogging stroller? It looks like jogging would fit better, but I just want to be sure.

I bought the single jogging one. I hope it fits! It hasn't arrived yet. Should be here in a couple of days...

CJ's Mommy, if you wouldn't mind, do you think you could post back on this thread to let me know if it fits? Thanks, that would be great.:goodvibes

Absolutely. That is the peak of the hurricane season and it could rain and rain hard.

We love our ProtectABub rain and wind cover. It's got ties for the back of the stroller, and then has elastic for the front and keeps any bags on the back of the stroller nice and dry too. It has a BIG viewing window and vent holes....very easy to get in and out of too. Plus it comes with a breathable storage bag....never thought we would use the cover but we have and it's been a lifesaver.

Yes, please bring the rain cover. We had rain and WIND during our trip and DD (then 3) was much more comfortable! And we liked that it kept all our jackets and stuff dry as well. We came back to the stroller after many rides/attractions to find that there had been a downpour!

I purchased the city mini single stroller for our trip a few weeks ago. I also purchased the baby trend jogging stroller rain cover (hood as they call it) at babies r us. It was less then $20. We only used it once. Last year it rained almost every day of our trip and we definitely used our Maclaren rain cover then (thanks tropical storm fay, it was the best trip ever!) The baby trend cover stored nicely in the pocket on the back of the stroller

enjoy your trip! Hope you won't need the cover much!

Same as everyone else, bring a rain cover. The other thing I take with me is an extra disposable changing pad (the full size ones by munchkin 26"x18").

DS was potty trained when we last went in May and didn't have any accidents (yeah!) but I ended up using the disposable pad three times in his stroller. Once when he got drenched playing in a water feature (and I didn't want to get his stroller all wet from him). Once when there was a really unexpected rain and we were inside and the seat got wet. And once, despite having the rain cover on, water got in. I was so glad to have the pad so that DS didn't get wet from the stroller (and vice versa the other time). I'm planning on taking one again next time we go, just in case. I have lots of extras from when we actually needed them and they are so light and fold up so small, it's no big deal to throw it in with DS extra change of clothes (again, just in case. :rotfl:)

Did the baby trend cover fit your citi mini well?
