We originally requested to be in loop # 1400....but now thinking we may take our little Westie poo since boarding her will cost a small fortune :( Wasn't sure if you have to be in a "specific" pet loop or not?

If we do take her wondering how we will manage to get back to let her out, at least once, on the days we are planning to be at the parks all day? That is kind of why we weren't planning on bringing her,,,well that and the long ride from NJ. It will be rough enough with the kids (16, 11 and 8)....and didn't want to stress the poor dog too, lol, lol

Still trying to get someone at home to come and take care of her while we are gone, but making a plan B just in case.

We always request a pet loop although I understand they put pets in just about any loop when they run out of pet loops. There is a $ 5.00 per day charge, and also a kennel some people use when they are gone all day or use tents..

If you are bringing a pet, you are supposed to disclose that when you make your reservation. The 1400 loop is not a pet loop, so you should request another loop. The 800 and 900 loops are premium pet loops, and lots of folks like those. If you sneak a dog onto a non-pet loop, and you get caught, you run the risk of being asked to move. Not fun, and it's inconsiderate to your fellow campers who may be on a non-pet loop for a reason.

You will need to plan accordingly. If you have a pet to take care of, you can't all be at the parks all day, unless you want to spend major dollars at the kennel. Either have a designated person each day take care of this, or plan your days so that your group starts early, and come back to the campsite for a mid-day break (which is actually nice for both the people and the dog).

As a majority of campers, we travel with two dogs. We go to the parks in the morning and come back early afternoon (2:00ish) and spend some quality time with them and then go back in the evening. Sometimes we just go in the morning and sometimes in the evening. It's all about the dogs, don't 'cha know. Seriously, we usually need a break depending on the time of year we go. Florida heat zaps. A swim and a nap is a good way to have the energy to go on. While we usually have a car for travel to DHS or AK you can do it using bus transportation if you plan correctly.

ummm, no, not going to go the sneak your pet in route, lol, lol, pirate:

Just wasn't sure if you HAD to be in a pet loop since I had read that others who brought their pups stayed in loops NOT designaterd specifically for pets. Guess we better make our minds up so we can plan appropriately.

Thanks for the help !

My reccomendation is that you call and add the dog to your ressie. My belief is that they are going to put you wherever they have space - pet loop or not.

You should request a pet loop but yeah, there's a chance if all of them are full when you arrive that Disney may plunk you just about anywhere.

I would request the loop now, even if you're not sure. Then when you get there, and you left the dog at home. You can let them know that there won't be a pet at the site. You still might wind up in a pet loop, but you won't be paying the 5$ fee per night.

And having a dog to go back to, really helps break up the day. It's easy to get tired and worn out when playing in the parks. And kids of all ages can have a meltdown in the middle of the day. You get stuck in wanting to be in the park all day, but too tired to carry on.

I'm not sure if this is your first trip to WDW or not, but your kids (at least the older two) are old enough to separate from the parents and might enjoy spending extra time in the parks. We often split up - some going back to the camper (and can tend to the dogs) and others staying a little later to do something different -maybe a parade or and extra ride on a roller coaster.

If you have never been before, this idea might frighten you at first, but once you get the hang of the transportation system you (and the older kids) might be more open to the idea. Some of my best memories are of just me and one of the kids.

On your arrival day - if you think you might arrive early (before your site might be ready), plan ahead and book that day for the kennel.

You can park your camper in the overflow lot and go explore the campground, another resort or even a park - but your camper would not yet be hooked up to electricity for your pooch to stay in.

I made this mistake - and the kennels were all full that day.
