Do I need more magic bands?

We were there in August and we all have our magic bands from that trip. Our APs are on them, and they were all customized for us. We are going back for 3 nights at BLT in December and on the MDE page I can customize more bands. Now one of the pegs for locking the band on my daughters broke....but anyway I can decline the other 3? I don't want to keep track of a bunch of bands.....and I feel its wasteful to keep sending me more if I already have them. I know the battery wears out over time, but they should still be fine from August....and probably be fine for next Julys trip as well.

My father is coming this trip so I need to order him one....but he has his own room/reservation so he obviously needs one. But the rest of us really don't.

The AP's aren't on the bands, the AP's are in your account, the bands are numbered and linked to your account.

IMO Disney is still trying to figure out the best way to administer the bands and right know they are in overkill mode. In a couple of years after everyone is used to having them, they will probably cut back, may charge for home delivery or colored bands.

I have been told that CM's can link any band to your account so re-using your existing bands shouldn't be a problem.

As the PP said, nothing is on your band itself. Everything is stored in your MDEx account profiles and the bands simply access that information via their embedded RFID chip. Any bands that are created for you will access the sameinformation in your profile so you can have several that all work and they can be used interchangeably.

There is no way to decline bands at this time. If you do not customize them they will send you gray ones, so you might as well just pick a different color and enjoy. My family will have all seven colors by January. I bought some chain-type key rings that have plastic tags with paper inserts that you can write on. I labeled each with one of our names and I then strung all of our bands, through the endmost hole, on each of our key chains. I will throw them all in our suitcase and then we can choose which one we want to wear each day.

In the resort gift shops you can purchase the colored bands for $8.95 I believe. Currently Disney is giving them out for free. So it is up to you if you want to collect more colors or have a back-up if one gets lost or broken.

I knew that nothing is on the band, I just meant they were linked. But this would be a good idea...IF the battery were replaceable. Eventually the battery will die and they will need to be replaced, so getting backups will only work so long. Good idea though. Maybe I will just reorder the same colors we currently have. My daughter loves pink, and my son loves Blue.....and my wife and I could care less (as long as I'm not wearing a pink one) The tabs to connect them do seem a little fragile so I'll take em since they are offing them. It's not like they give me an option to decline, and they will select colors for us if we don't, so might as well make em match what I got.
