I have a business meeting in Tampa in a couple of weeks. The meetings will end at 4:00 on Friday July 18th. The WDW website says that MK is open until 9:30 but there are fireworks at 9:45. I am considering having a rental car already rented and driving straight to MK after my meeting ends. Do you think I will have enough time? I would need to drive from Tampa to WDW, park and get over to MK and buy a ticket. Do you think this would leave me enough time to warrant the trip? I would probabally drive back to Tampa after the park closes since I will have a free hotel room there and have to be there the next day for meetings on Saturday. What do you think? Mapquest says it is about a 75 mile drive So I figure I could be in MK by 6:00 and have until 10:00 when the fireworks end.

I would, especially if you have an AP. That would be too close for me to miss at night at WDW. Much, much better than hanging around a hotel room.......!

Plan on it. You know those Friday meetings always get over early. The only drawback is it will be very crowded.

I was in WDW for a convention. I knew I would only have one day to tour the parks and that was the day I got there. So after checking in, visiting with family I headed off to the parks. I got to MK and Epcot in 5 hours. I wasn't going to be that close and not do the parks.

I say go for it. It's like a bonus to your business trip.

Sorry to disagree:( Traffic from Tampa to WDW on a Friday afternoon will be horrible. If your meeting goes until 4pm, you'll be lucky by the time you fight traffic, park, buy your ticket (you did mention buy - do not have an AP), you will be very lucky to be walking down Main Street by 7:30. Once you leave the park, wait in line for the monorail or ferry, wait in line for the tram to your car, fight traffic to get out of the park, drive back to Tampa, you'll be lucky to be in your hotel bed by 1am. Plus, will you be able to stay awake for your meetings the next day? It sounds like a lot of hassle for a few hours of fun, but it might be worth it to some. It would be hard to be that close and not go. Have you ever been to Bush Gardens in Tampa? It's different than Disney (although just as expensive), but still fun.
