The meals are so large that DH & I will be not be comfortable touring if we each eat a full meal. If we decide to share, will we be charged extra beyond the menu price of the entree? Of course we will tip a bit extra for the server's trouble.

No, there is no charge for meal sharing. Of course, this doesn't include buffets, but for all other restaurants, there is no charge for meal sharing.

Shula's is the only one I can think of that charges for sharing.

I read from one of DIS members' post that Chef's Mickey also charges for meal-sharing.

Chef Mickeys and ALL the buffets charge full price for EVERYONE. There is no such thing as "meal sharing" at the buffets. If you have a small appetite, then it would probably be wise to choose other dining options rather than buffets and all you care to eat meals.

Anne, I've actually read a few reports of people being charged $10 for "entertainment" at a character buffet if they don't want to eat. That's not exactly splitting. But there is a reduced price for this.

I forget which meals I read this for. I was thinking one was CM's.

Snurk--yes, but that is for people who do not eat at all. They don't offer "plate sharing" though. That would kinda defeat an all you can eat price :)

I remember one time at Mama Melrose in MGM Studios that they charged us extra for dw and dd to share a plate...So, yes, at least some places in WDW do charge extra for meal sharing...

NOTE TO THE MORAL POLICE: Please don't flame me for this

I think the key to this is not to ask and just order and share! I personally have never seen a problem with this when ordering from a menu...obviously, this does not apply at a buffet style establishment...

I agree that it in certain instances it is better to beg forgiveness.

And naturally I was inquiring about ordering off a restaurant menu - not buffets or all-you-can-eat meals.

My wife and myself have split meals at many WDW restaurants over the years. My wife is a life time wieght watchers member so we tend to split meals at least half the time on our trips. We have split meals from Calif. Grill, Mama Melrose, Jiko, Wolfgang Puck and many others. We have never had to pay for the extra plate except at Shula's.

Last week we ate at Marrakesh and because the appetizers sounded so good, we each ordered one appetizer, and then all got one portion of the Lamb Couscous to share. The couscous plate was so large that between that and our appetizers, we couldn't have possbly eaten more. There was no problem ordering that way, and they even brought us 3 small plates, setting the couscous in the center of the table family-style. Worked out very well, no extra charge.
