Do cast members have more than one "job"

Our waiter at the Biergarten was working later in the week on the Friendship boats. Sounded like a neat job -- inside for a few days, then outside on the boats. Nice variety.

After reading this thread I have decided that ONE job I would never want at WDW is "shift scheduler."

Say if you were Belle, could you been in the DHS show one day, and do the parade and meet and greets the next day? Or is like they have the Belle for the show, and that's all she does?

I would guess Belle in the show, as she acts and does her own singing, is an equity performer and wouldn't cross over to parades or meet and greets (or may do so only rarely as the previous poster mentioned)

Yes, anybody who does the live singing is equity. The only equity who meet and greet (to my knowledge) are equity subs who also work as characters.

Now, if they are not equity, then yes, they can. It's not uncommon to do sets (meet and greet) during the day and then do a night time show or parade. Or to do a character breakfast and then do one of the afternoon parades. That's a very common shift. Or you can do sets one day and parades/shows the next. I have done all of the above. It really hinges on if you are equity or not.

The other factor is that full time cast members, regardless of location, can do what are known as "bids". It's rather complicated, but the basic premise is that they can choose where and when they work in a typical week. That means each week will be the same (same locations each day, same day off). You can choose to work in the same location all 5 days, or you can work in one location Monday, one location Tuesday, etc.

I know there's a role in the WDW College Program (Maybe regular WDW full and part-times jobs) called a "Hopper" where you get to be trained in Attractions, Merchandise, Quick Service Food and Beverage (Counter Service), Main Entrance Operations, and Custodial. I don't know how often you can get that role though. I applied for it, but didn't get it (I got Main Entrance though!)

In 2007 I did notice a girl who worked It's a Small World and then we went over to Peco Bills to eat and she was there organizing the orders.

I don't know if this is what you mean, but on one of our trips, there was a guy who was in the Hoop-Dee-Doo. A few nights later we did the magical gatherings fireworks cruise with Captain Hook and friends. He was the MC on the boat. (we were thrilled, because he was a riot in the Hoop-Dee-Doo, and he was hysterical on the boat. He had us in stitches).

So, yes, I do believe CM's wear different hats. (literally, LOL)

Hopper is specific only to Epcot and the roles are very limited in supply.

Entertainment is a global role so there is a lot of movement from role to role and park to park. You will notice that if you look closely, the Tomorrowland band and the Fantasyland band are composed of the same peoplte. Depending on the type of performing they're doing, equity may move around just like the characters.
