My dh fought me re: letting my 65lb 7yo ride in a stroller. But after 1 day of trying it we'll never go stroller free again. Once we did it we started noticing lots of older kids in strollers lol. We utilize our free rental w/Disney Visa card and have been pleased w/the strollers.
HTH
Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about my 55 lb / 5 year old -- at WDW we always had our stroller but now we have a (will be) 7 month old and I'm not about to buy a double stroller at this point. I hope she does okay with all the walking.
Honestly, I'm not sure. I've never really paid much attention to the size/ages of other kids being pushed in a stroller.Just wondering, do you find a lot of big kids in strollers at DLR to the extent you do at WDW?
I would rather see a 4 yr old in a shopping cart seat, than see that 4 yr old running up and down the isle, touching their nose, then fruit/vegetables, then nose, etc. Just me.
To each their own. If just resting their feet vs a full blown nap, hey what ever works for a family to have an enjoyable trip to Disneyland.![]()
having a 4 year old in the infant seat in a grocery cart.
Sit down and take a break if your tired. Its excercise, its good for ya.![]()

Perhaps one of those sit/stand strollers would work for your family?
Such as this?: http://www.onestepahead.com/product/osa/414755.html
Okay, when we went in October we saw quite a few older children in strollers and I must say....it sort of bothered me. Its one of my pet peeves. Right along with having a 4 year old in the infant seat in a grocery cart.

To be honest, I think big kids in strollers (with certain exceptions) is part of the problem of kids not getting as much physical activity these days. A lot of kids today don't have the physical stamina kids had in the past because for various reasons, they don't have the exposure to exercise. There is no real reason why older kids shouldn't be able to walk around DL. My personal opinion is that it is best to avoid strollers. I'm not talking about toddlers, small children or special needs kids. Of course there are exceptions, too, but I am saying that overall, kids are perfectly capable of walking around DL. To me, stroller use encourages the idea that physical exertion is a bad thing. Most kids get enough sedentary time--part of the DL experience is walking! I realize it's hard when you have younger ones in your party. We've never had any of our 5 in a stroller, but we don't take them until they are 4.
When I was a kid, many eons ago, we would not have been caught dead in a stroller at age 8!! Oh, the humiliation! But my 8-year-old would probably love it if we got her a stroller![]()
Mom of three said specifically the *infant seat*. Which has to mean the special things some stores have installed on a few carts for people to strap their tiny babies in, right? Which they've done b/c clipping your "baby bucket" onto the front of the cart is ridiculously dangerous and not how the carts were designed.
But Mom doesn't mean the normal seating part, I don't think.
Mom of three, I assume you mean a much older kid, like 8 or so. I know with my dude, I'd much rather he have his rest while on the move in his stroller, rather than waste my time by sitting on a bench watching everyone else having fun!
Don't get me wrong, we do some bench-sitting, but I'm finally swaying the fam to my side...kiddo rests in the Volo seat if the grownups are on the move! But my guy is only 4, and prone to horrid leg aches (as am I so I'm completely sympathetic and empathetic), not an older child.
Thanks for the suggestion! I considered it but my 5 year old is over 45 lbs - she's about 56 lbs.
