If any DVC'ers have Family in the Military, please know that we are ALL thinking about you, and your loved ones!!

God Bless!

A very dear friend (whom we met while my DH was in the Army--and in the Gulf War) is deployed right now. He needs prayers, as do all of the men and women getting ready to embark on what will be a life altering experience for them and their families!

Regardless of what anyone thinks of this war, I pray that we ALL realize the sacrifice our military and their families are paying right now. We need to back THEM 100 percent!

I remember this feeling of dread like it was yesterday, when I knew DH was officially fighting. It is a time in my life I wouldn't redo for anything. I echo Scatt's sentiments...God Bless every single one of them!!!!!

Scatt, a very thoughtful sentiment.

Lacool, I'm thinking of you. I hope that your husband and all of our military remain safe. Their devotion to our country is much appreciated, particularly in these troubled times.

God Bless our DVC Military and their families.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts for all of our military. My brother was deployed two weeks ago. It is much different now than when he was there last year. They all needed our continued prayers and support for the job that they have on their shoulders.

Blessings,
Tammy

You guys made me cry. I can't tell you how much your caring and support mean to me. DH is a marine, and has been in Kuwait a for a little more than a month now. It sounds strange to say I am anxious for war to begin, but I would really like this conflict to be resolved, both for the future safety of the world and, on a more selfish note, so that DH can come home. I am planning our first trip to WDW since becoming DVC members, and it is my sincere wish that my husband will be home in time to join us.

I have been relying heavily on DIS chats for adult conversation (about a topic I happen to love talking about -- DISNEY!) after I get my two DDs into bed. I actually went cold turkey on the chats last week, as I was beginning to think I may be developing an obsession. But the DISer and DVCers have been wonderful, showing sympathy and offering encouragement, while providing a welcome distraction from real life.

DH's job is not fun (nor is my temporary assignment as a single parent), living in a tent in the desert is not comfortable, and I can tell from his emails that delays and drawn-out diplomacy were beginning to wear on the troops. However, we both firmly believe in what he is doing, and that this is the price we are willing to pay to protect the freedoms too many of us take for granted. I pray every day for his safety and quick return. I also pray for patience and wisdom while rearing two kids alone.

This is the most I have ever said on the matter. I know that not everyone shares my views, and I don't wish to offend anyone. I also don't want to give the impression that we feel sorry for ourselves. This is his job, and he is well compensated for it. Each deployment he has been on has been a challenge for us, but we take them in stride, and believe in the end we are a stronger family for them. We learn not to take for granted the time we spend with our loved ones. I am proud of my husband and grateful to have been born in a country that offers so much.

Thank you all for your kind words of support for him and for our family.

As the granddaughter of WWII vets and a WAVE, a daughter of 2 Vietnam vets (yes, Mom was there too!) the niece of several Gulf War vets and currently deployed military members, and close friend to several others with family members currently deployed, allow me to offer my emotional support as well. This area (Norfolk, VA) is very heavily populated with the military, so it's difficult NOT to know someone personally involved.

Our best thoughts and prayers for all.

My DH is active duty Air Force. I almost feel guilty that I am lucky enough that his chances of deployment are very slim. He is finishing up one job and soon to be assigned as an instructor at a local university in Worcester as an ROTC instructor.

For those with family members abroad, I understand how hard it is as he was in Saudi on a one year remote from JUne 97- June 98. A very long, hard year. Any help I can provide to those who are separated by deployment, please let me know.

Our son is in the Army and has been over there for a couple of months. It really helps to know that they are thought of! Thanks.

Just weighing in with my thoughts and prayers for all those in the military at this time. Our very best wishes and prayers for a safe and healthy return for all.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

My Dh spent 20 years in the Navy, He was on submarine duty(which meant he was gone for up to 4 months at a time with no contact) We werent lucky enough for email or letters. A subs misssion is silence and not to be dected.
He retired about 3 years ago, but the way it works is that you go into what is called the inactive reserve. If things go really bad, he could be called back in. It is a very slim possibility.
I pray 2 times a day for our leaders and those in service to our country.

DH is in the Army, but he's still home with us right now. My thoughts are with those who have family deployed.

God bless America and our Troops. We have a very close nephew over there. He is the only boy in my DW family, so he is very missed. But he's on the Abraham Lincoln, so he's save. But for all those on the frt lines, KICK HIS BUTT AND GET HOME SAFELY & SOON!!

I am from an area that has a lot of military personnel (Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi) and the Navy Seabees (in Gulfport, Mississippi) and watched a group of Seabees heading out for overseas. I know what their wives and families are going through (as an ex-Seabee wife). But that's what they are trained for, to fight and protect our country.

All I can say to all our men and women of the military - God Bless you, Protect you, and Bring you Home Safely.

God bless our leaders and guide them through these difficult times.

God bless our Homeland warriors - the policemen, firemen and military stationed stateside who are dedicated to protecting the home front against terrorism (from abroad and from within).

And most of all, God Bless America!

It's giving me chills reading this.. I too send my thoughts and prayers to all our military and especially our dvc family members.

I too feel for all of you who have members out there. Best wishes and I hope it will be a quick war like how other people are predicting and they can come home safe and sound. This thread makes all the other discussions regarding rooms, resorts, food, etc. so insignificant :(

Our son is at Camp Wolf in Kuwait. We have not heard from him yet. He is working in the Hospital there. His main worry prior to going was that he would be back in time to use his Florida Annual Pass which expires in October. Our cousin is a navy Seal and he is in Afganistan.

It is now three minutes to 8, EST. According to all reports, the war will begin at any time. Now is the most important time for all to pray for our men and women, who so selflessly have chosen to fight for freedom, not just for us, but for the world.

We are proud of our servicemen and women, and will continue to pray for safety and victory.

God bless America and her people.

How about a DVC member who is in the military and serving in one of our allied nations? :D My dad is retired from the service as were a few other members of my family. Luckily, I am not involved in the current actions so my family doesn't have to suffer from worry about me. I do have some friends who have deployed to assist some directly while others are providing indirect support. I don't have many other Americans near me nor do I work with any so it's nice "reading" here that people are thinking of all of us who are serving. . .

Our prayers are with all the soldiers. I hope God keeps all of our "families" out there safe. I admire their strength, courage and determination.
