Do all Cinderellas look pretty much the same?

My DD4 is so excited at the thought of meeting Cinderella. She is a very clever 4yo too. My concern is that if she meets her more than once (but differnet CM) during our trip, she may notice that she is not the same one. Do they all look pretty much the same?

Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I've had this happen to us and my girls just think that (just like with Santa) only one is real and the rest are her helpers. They enjoy figuring out which one is the 'real' one.

They first noticed this with Ariel and Belle because they are at meals, the Grotto, the parades and their shows at MGM.

Have fun!

I've worried about this one too, and still do. DD will be 7 our next trip in Dec. and I'm thinking that question is coming. But, it hasn't happened yet and you may be safe for a while. We went Dec. 2004 and she was 5. We ate at CRT and PSB and saw a few princesses in the parks as well. So, we saw Cinderella, Jasmine, and Belle a couple of different times. The only thing she said was "they don't remember me?" Now, she said this the first day and I told her she had grown so much since last year they didn't recognize her. When we saw a repeated character that we already had their autograph, I just said "we got your autograph Monday, remember?" and they usually said something about being nice to see us again. Once we didn't and just let them sign again. I also told her the princesses take turns eating between CRT and PSB- Aurora and Belle were at both. Now, DD is very gullable and doesn't question a lot, so it also depends on your DD. My DS however, I'm sure will question these things when we go back- he'll be 5. I try to avoid those things- I like to keep the magic real as long as I can- but I know eventually we'll have to get into the helper talk as well. And eventually, when they don't buy that, I'll just have to say that I believe they're real- don't you? Oh, to keep them small forever!!! :sad1:

Chances are she won't ask, but if she does, I agree. Just tell her that Cinderella can't be in 5 places at once so she has helpers. Sometimes, the characters will see a child in one place (like Epcot) and then see them again in another (like MK) and remember the child and that is really special. If the child starts asking questions like "don't you remember, I got your autograph yesterday" they really do a good job of "remembering" at the spur of the moment.

I think Disney is real careful to make sure they look alike. On a tour a few years ago, the CM told us how all the Cinderellas have to wear the same shade of lipstick, match all their makeup, avoid the beach and sunburnt nose on their day off, etc. I was really impressed!

The Cinderellas we saw were quite similar but I could tell the difference between the Princess Auroras. When we got another autograph from a different Snow White, DH mentioned how it looked different from Thursday's. Snow White giggled and said something about how she likes to change things now and then.

DD7 "knows" that they are just people but when she was THERE it was easy for her to forget! DD4 totally believes they are the real thing.

We had that happen to us with my 5 year old DD. We went to CRT for breakfast. She loved the breakfast but after she said " Cinderella was nice but that's not the real Cinderella". I ask her how she new. She said "She wasn't pretty. Not nearly as pretty as the real Cinderella." But my DD is just like my DH. She never believes anything anyone says and always questions the truth. I sent her and her friend post-cards from WDW and signed it from Cinderella. My DD's friend jumped up and down and even took it to school to show her friends that Cinderella is waiting for her to come and visit next month. My DD just looked at me and said" How does Cinderella know my name, how does she know we're coming, did she really write this, where did she get the post-card and how did she mail it?" Talk about taking the fun out of something. That will be the last time I try to do something like that.

Whenever my children meet up with a character (including Santa Claus) I always say, "Hello Belle (or other character), you remember Samantha & Emily, right?" and I put my hand on each child's head as I say it. The characters are wonderful about "recognizing" them after that.

DD wears her name badge all the time princess: - I just have to remind the characters that we saw them yesterday.

The 2 cinderella's we met were SHOCKINGLY different in appearance. I really wonder with the one if they were subbing some 3rd stringer in. She wasnt very pretty. She was very large...now I dont mean fat or anything and not particularly ragging on her or anything just trying to explain how different...Very strong features on her large face, large nose etc. BIG boned I guess you'd say. The second one had to be much shorter but it may well have been perception. Her face was small and round and she was tiny and sweet and dainty. My dd recognized the difference but it didnt matter. She was always in the moment...only later when looking at pictures did she comment on it.

What spoiled it for my older DD was looking at scrapbooks from several trips. We've tried to avoid meeting the same face character twice during the same trip. On our most recent trip I forgot that little rule and we did do both CRT and the Gala Dinner at Park Faire. But one was at the beginning of the trip and the other toward the end. I only printed one Fairy Godmother and one Cinderella....Fairy Godmother was GREAT at Park Faire. She really was an older lady...not "old" but certainly not a college kid. The one at CRT was very nice and very much in character, but she couldn't have been more than 20.

My retirement goal in life is to be the Fairy Godmother at WDW! I just need to add on a few pounds, which should be easy, LOL!

I don't think they've ever found the right 'look' for Aurora, at least not when we've been down there. Something has always been off, but it's hard to tell what, exactly. The hair once looked too fake, once the dress didn't fit properly. DD didn't seem to mind though. OTOH, all the Cinderellas we have been have been the "cream of the crop", the most perfect ones imaginable. I guess we've just been lucky, as DD has never mentioned them looking different from each other. To be honest, I've never noticed either.

To those worried about reactions when the princesses won't 'remember' their DDs, how about telling them that they meet so many sweet little girls every day that they have a hard time remembering them all?

I am no beauty- but I also don't try to get a job as a princess. The cinderella we saw at CRT was no princess. When my dd(4) saw her she whispered to me "but she is not pretty"- and that was putting it mildly) It had to be some last minute disaster and she was thin- so she fit the dress...but :scared1: Later on that same trip when she again saw Cinderella(a different more princess looking one) My daughter said "Cinderella there is someone that stole your dress." I didn't realize she had been thinking about this the entire trip. Thankfully though she chose to speak up in front of the Cinderella she was complimenting not the one she was insulting.

java, that's hilarious!

My goal has always been to be Pooh, but come to think of it I'll probably make a good Fairy Godmother in a couple of years...the way I'm graying I won't even need a wig.

Maybe Disney should put out a casting call for triplets. They could rotate and our kids wouldn't know the difference. That would make things so much easier for me. They should put it on their to-do list right after they install that perfect weather dome that I've been wishing for. :earsboy:

Only photograph her with ONE of the Cinderellas!!
I have my picture with two different Cinderellas (Cindy's Table and one on DCL) and you can tell side-by-side.

Honestly I haven't noticed but we don't fequent the princesses much. We did see Mary Poppins again and DS never questioned if it was the same one that kissed him he just assumed it was.

The one princess I have noticed is one of the Snow Whites at MK, she's not pretty and not what I thought Snow White should look like. She has a big facial features and really big cheeks and she's not the right coloring or something. I don't know something is just off about her.

Although I've never met any face characters, thinking back to parades I've seen over the years (many of which I have the pictures on my computer), the Cinderellas typically look pretty much alike. Jasmine, Ariel, and Aurora, not so much. Especially Jasmine. Couple years ago I saw three different Jasmines in various places who each looked absolutely nothing like the other (one looked nothing like Jasmine, actually). Is it just me or did I read somewhere Disney sometimes has trouble finding people who have the right "look" for certain characters?

My parents still tell me that about Santa and the Easter Bunny. And I'm 22. :rotfl:
